~Daryl's P.O.V.~
After we ate we kept on walking. Soon we began walking on tracks. The rest of the group walked ahead while I stayed with Haley and Joe.
"So what's the plan?" Joe asked
"Just looking for the right place that's all" I said
"Oh we ain't good enough for you huh?" Joe asked
"Some of you ain't exactly friendly" I flat out said
"For instance Len" Haley said
"Both of you'll ain't so friendly yourself" Joe said "You know you both need a group out here"
"Maybe we don't" I said
"No, you do" Joe said as he put the cigarette in his mouth then took it out "You should be with us"
One snarling ugly walker approached us but the guys up front took care of it
"We just gotta follow the rules. You claim. If you steal you keel. And you don't lie"
"What happens if you break 'em?" Haley asked
"Oh, you catch a beatin'. But that don't happen much, cause when men like us follow rules and cooperate a little bit, well, the world becomes ours" Joe said
Yea right
Joe whistled and everyone slowed down "Right there" He said pointed to the old big garage "It's out abode for the evening"
The guys in front checked the place out finding it clean. Me and Haley looked at each other before following them inside. After we walked in everyone began to claim all the vehicles. Unfortunately they were all taken so me and Haley sat on the floor. The other guys began chit chatting when me and Haley just stood around. Len approached us and looked at Haley
"Hey sweet cheek why don't you bunk with me. Sure as hell better then sleeping on this ruggy old hard cement" He said winking to her
I scoffed "Back the hell off"
He gave me the death glare before looking back at her. He pulled her close to him "Claimed" He said smirking. The rest of the guys began laughing
I flinched and got in between then putting Haley behind me "Better back the hell up!"
"Hey, hey easy" Joe said approaching us "Now it looks like Daryl is with Haley so Len just back off"
"Whatever" Len said walking away
Joe looked at us nodding before he walked away
I turned and looked at Haley "You all right?"
She nodded "He just creeps the hell out of me"
"Not to worry baby, I'm here and I ain't going anywhere" I kissed her forehead before we sat down next to my bag
Time passed and we stayed there
"I was with Glenn, we met some people along the way. Some scientist guy needed to get to Washington because he is suppose to know how to cure this whole thing. But I think it's bullshit. I refused to go along. I didn't want to go because I needed to find you"
"Is that how you got this?" I asked rubbing my thumb over her scar on the top left on her forehead
She nodded
"Does he really know how to end all of this?" I asked
She shook her head "So he says, but I just think it's bullshit"
I shrugged my shoulders "I guess we will see how this all ends"
"Yea"
We both laid down for a little bit
"I gotta take a piss" She said standing up
"Alright I will go with you" I said standing up as we walked outside
I chuckled to myself, I love her language, that's my girl.
After we went back in we laid down. I laid my head on the bag while she laid her head on my stomach with her body laying out on the right side of me. We laid in silence for a bit while I was stroking her hair when Len approached us
"You've got to be kidding me" He said while kicking her leg "Give it here" He demanded
Me and Haley sat up and looked at him with rage and Haley looked at him is disgust
"You step back" I scolded
"My half was in the bag. Now it's gone" Len said
Why the hell does he think I took it? But now we got everyone's attention
"Now ain't nobody here interested in no half a damn cottontail expect you and your whore here"
We both stood up. Oh hell nah
"Ain't that right?" He asked
"What the hell did you just call me?!" Haley yelled
"Empty your bag" Len said leaning to grabbed the bag but I grabbed it first as I pulled Haley behind me
"I said step back" I said harshly
There was silence until Joe harshly grabbed the bag
"Did you take his rabbit Daryl? Or Haley? Just tell me the truth" Joe asked
"We didn't take nothing" Haley said and I nodded
"What do we got here?" Joe said emptying the bag
Just then some of our shirts fell out then the cottontail. The hell?
"Well look at that" Joe said
"You put that there didn't you?" Haley said
"When we went out to take a piss" I said waving my arms up in motion
"You lie" Len says
"Didn't you" I say shoving him
"You lie. You stole. We gonna teach these fools or what Joe?"
"Whoa, whoa" Joe said getting in between them "Now Daryl says he didn't take your half of the rabbit"
I looked at Haley and she looked afraid. I grabbed her hand
"So we got a little conundrum here" Joe said "Either he's lying, which is an actionable offense, or" Joe said turning to Len and chuckling "You didn't plant it on him like some pussy, punk-ass, cheating, coward cop did you?"
"I didn't" Len said still looking at us
"Good" Joe said turning to us "Well" He swings a punch at Len "Teach him a lesson, gents. He's a lying sack of shit. I'm sick of it. Teach him all the way"
The rest of the guys ran and began beating the crap out of Len. Joe turned to us
"I saw him do it"
"Why didn't you try to stop him?" Haley asked as we never let our hands go of each other
Joe shrugged his shoulders "He wanted to play that out. I let him. Both of you'll told the truth" He said pointing at us "Len lied. You both understand the rules"
I kept looking at Joe while Haley looked at the guys beating him to a pulp while she squeezed my hand. Joe grabbed the head and threw it at us
"Looks like you both get the head to" He said walking away
I looked at them before grabbing the head and storing it in the bag. I looked at her and she looked at me
"Come on, let's go to the other side, get away from this" I said grabbing her hand
She nodded and walked with me. I could tell she was more then afraid. Which worried me, she was never like this. What was wrong with her?
