Chapter 31:
Waking Up With A Wolf
I honestly couldn’t believe it! A Werewolf! An adorable one too! I thought to myself as I brought back food from the kitchen in the Academy. Bane was hungry and I didn’t want him finding taste in me or Asuna overnight. It was around 1 o’clock now and everyone was basically dead in tiredness. Asuna was already in bed turning off her lamp.
“Night Yuna. I can’t take this anymore—too sleepy.” I agreed with her but I needed to get Bane settled in for the night. I didn’t think Headmaster Cross would allow a stray Werewolf boy to spend the night in the same room as two teenage girls but I really don’t think he’ll approve of me turning up on his doorstep saying ‘I’ve found a new friend—he’s a wolf’; too much to handle in one night in my books.
“So is it true?” I whispered going to stand next to Bane who was staring out the window and at the glittering quarter moon. “Do you guys change form on nights with full moons?”
He shook his head and caught my gaze, “Only when we’re young and we can’t control our powers properly. Our powers become much stronger in the light of the moon though—that’s when we hunt the most. We run faster, kill things more vigorously, we sometimes hurt ourselves in the process but don’t feel a thing. Sometimes it’s uncontrollable.” He explained.
I nodded, “Can you control it?” I asked him.
“Me? Oh yeah. I’m really strong. The thing that slows me down the most though is how I’m a wolf cub still. I won’t grow unless ‘She’ dies. That’s what I’m trying to accomplish. I want her dead—also before she kills anymore Werewolves and Vampires.”
I suddenly hesitated and froze. A bolt of electricity suddenly shocked my mind. Oh my God?! Could this have been the Pure Blood Vampire that framed Terra?! Could me and Bane want revenge on the same Vampire?
“Bane…” I swallowed hard as he stared at me. “Has she ever framed anyone for her own doing? Any Pure Blood’s… recently? My voice was shaky.
“Um… I think so. She likes to do that. I think a Pure Blood that knew time travel got framed for what she did. Sucks to be in that situation though.” He laughed to himself.
“Oh my God…Terra…” I murmured in non-visible rage.
Bane raised an eyebrow, “You knew the time travelling Vampire?”
“Yeah…” I spoke softly.
“Did she take you anywhere?”
I looked at him and nodded.
He grinned and moved over to my bed to sit on it. “So, where are you sleeping tonight?” He stretched out on my bed as if claiming it.
Over my dead body I thought as I went over to stand next over it. “Here? You sleep on the floor.” I commanded.
He put on a puppy dog look that I couldn’t help but feel sympathy for. “But…” he mumbled.
I sighed, “Only if you turn into your puppy form.” I said not believing that he actually would.
“OK!” He cheered and a white cloud of smoke filled the room again. He was now replaced with the cute little wolf cub from before! The bandages were still wrapped on firmly but not his pants. He wriggled out of them and howled softly.
I couldn’t help but fall in love with him in this form! He was just so cute!
I quickly walked into my bathroom and got changed and walked back into the room again. I slipped under the covers of my bed and Bane slept soundingly on one half of my pillow. He was so small and adorable! I just wanted to cuddle him!
Eventually I drifted off and dreamt about many things… Kurando was one of them. I didn’t think of him at all that night. Everything was going so fast though! But I must admit Bane was a good distraction from all the traumatic things I had to live through the day before with Kurando. For that, I’m somewhat happier.
I awoke to something strange and unordinary. I know Bane went to sleep as a pup but when I was awake again, he was back in his human form… on top of me?!
My eyes stared at his shiny silver hair that almost touched my nose. He was under the covers and I prayed he was wearing pants! Oh God please!
He moved his head upwards to face mine, “Good morning,” He yawned with a large sheepish grin.
My face burst into redness from embarrassment, “Are you wearing anything?” I whispered in a light, high-pitched voice.
He laughed, “Yes, I put on the pants before you woke up.” He lifted the covers to reveal the bottom half of his body.
I frowned, “OK cool, now could you get off me?” I asked not very politely.
He stared at me awkwardly, “Don’t you like me?” He put on a puppy dog face and pouted.
I sat up, forcing him to bend backwards slightly. “We’re not married!” I snapped softly trying not to stir Asuna who was around a metre away from us.
“We may be one day.” He said pushing his face close to mine. I moved back a bit and became flustered. He smiled and licked MY lips and I almost screamed.
“Wha—what the hell dude!” I covered my mouth in disgust. “What was that?!”
“A kiss?” He sounded confused.
“Not in my books! A kiss is closed mouths, not licking people!” I said wiping away his saliva.
He shifted closer to me, “OK then.” He whispered and pushed his lips against mine. My mind snapped and I instantly thought of Shiki! I pushed Bane off me and jumped out of bed. “What?”
“Bad dog! I like someone else!” I said.
“Oh… I thought it was a way you said thanks to someone…” He mumbled. Sure, sure I thought to myself.
I touched my lips with my fingertips. His lips were very soft… I hit myself in the head—stop it Yuna! Don’t think about that! You and Shiki are… hang on… what are we? I wondered. He did kiss me but he didn’t say anything basically. I was so confused.
“OK, but you liked it. See you’re thinking about it right now. You humans are odd.” He said getting up and walking toward the window to open the curtains.
The brightness of the morning sun beamed onto Asuna’s face and she cringed and rolled over unhappy. “Argh… Morning…” She mumbled sitting up seeing both me and Bane standing around doing nothing… nothing. “Hey guys, nice sleep?” She asked rubbing her eyes.
I shrugged; I didn’t want to tell her about how I dreamt about Kurando again. I always do now-a-days.
Bane nodded, “Yep! Yuna is so comfy to sleep on!” He cheered.
I almost jumped out of my skin in shock, “Say what?!” I cried.
“I was as a wolf… don’t worry.” He murmured.
Asuna started cracking up laughing, “Oh you two are legends! Hilarious!” She said swinging her legs off the side of her bed and standing up.
I coughed loudly, “School’s soon—let’s get ready, hey?” I said running to the wardrobe to get my uniform. Asuna pinched me on my way.
“Hello? What about Bane?” She asked pointing at him. “We have to tell Kaien!”
I sighed, “Oh yeah…” I forgot about that. “Well I have to get ready anyway for that.”
“Good point, we better leave early too.” Asuna said.
I tilted my head to one side in confusion. “Why?”
Asuna sighed, “Because if girls see a hot, pale, topless, muscular, boy with tall spiking hair and stunning looks, what do you think they’ll do?”
Bane whimpered with a smile.
I shook my head, “Yeah… we have to. They’ll chase us down the hallway.” I skipped into the bathroom quickly to get changed, not thinking to close the door because knowing me: I’m an idiot…
Asuna started making the beds and I began to slip my skirt on and my blouse. I didn’t notice Bane walk in in curiosity.
He stood behind me and poked my shoulder. I leapt about a metre into the air and fell backwards against the wall. “WHAT THE HELL?! HONESTLY?! BANE!” I cried covering up my chest with my top.
He looked so confused and blank, “What?” He asked scratching his head.
“I’m partially naked?” I said.
“So? Normally my whole pack was naked when we transformed. Nice body though—you could work on it a little.”
I grabbed my shoe and threw it at him as hard as I possibly could. “GET OUT!” I shouted and he ran out the door, closing it behind him.
I sighed loudly and got into my uniform as fast as possible and walked out into our bedroom. “Now what do you say to her?” Asuna said holding Bane’s ear.
He whimpered grumpily, “I’m sorry for… perving on you.” He managed to say in a 45 degree angle Asuna was forcing him into.
“Good.” Asuna sounded proud of herself for a moment. I grinned trying not to laugh. He was such an untamed boy but he seemed nice. He was very childish but looked like a grown-up. It was unimaginable to combine the two in one body and mind.
“OK, now I’m going to get changed now and if I catch you sneaking a peek you’ll be dead. Do I make myself clear?” She asked Bane. He looked terrified and nodded quickly wide eyed and solemn.
He ran over to me and wrapped his arms around me, “She won’t kill me, will she?”
