A/N: hi everyone! This is my version of how the autobots and kids met Smokescreen.

I hope you like it.

~

As the final bell rang, signaling the end of another school day, Jack and I gathered our belongings and headed out of the classroom, the excitement palpable in the air. Soon, we all met up at Miko's locker.

I was still really exhausted from Saturday's New York trip.

"Hey guys, what are we gonna do today? Doesn't seem like the bots are picking us up" Miko asked.

"I dunno. Any ideas, Raf?" Jack asked the young boy.

Raf, always eager to contribute, nodded enthusiastically.

"Well, there's that old warehouse on the outskirts of town. I heard it's pretty cool inside. Maybe we could check it out?" He suggested. I nodded eagerly at that. I've always been keen in exploring abandoned places.

Miko's eyes lit up with excitement as she turned to me, gesturing eagerly.

"Erin, you come as well!"

I nodded enthusiastically, my heart racing with anticipation.

"Sounds like a plan! Let's go explore!" Jack excitedly said as Miko put her bag in her locker, and texted Bulkhead about our plans for today.

Raf took out his phone and searched for the warehouse

As we made our way through the streets of our small town, the conversation flowed freely, filled with laughter and anticipation.

"I wonder what we'll find inside the warehouse. Maybe there are hidden treasures!" Raf's eyes gleamed.

"Or ghosts!" She jokingly responded.

I rolled my eyes.

Ghosts don't exist, I signed.

"You thought aliens didn't either. And here you are now, in the middle of a giant war among giant alien robots!" Miko pointed out. I groaned.

Fair point.

As we approached the abandoned building, a sense of adventure bubbled up inside me. I gripped my friends' arms tightly, my heart pounding with anticipation.

"Here we are. Ready to do some exploring?" Raf cheered excitedly.

I nodded, my eyes shining with excitement. With Raf leading the way, we entered the dimly lit interior of the building, our footsteps echoing against the concrete floor. I took out my phone and switched on the flashlight.

"Wow, this place is amazing!" Miko awed.

"Yeah, it's kinda creepy, but in a cool way." Jack agreed.

"Let's stick together, okay? Safety first." Raf suggested. I nodded as the four of us stuck together.

As we ventured deeper into the building, I felt a surge of exhilaration. The darkness was scaring me a little.

"Hey Erin, you okay?" Miko asked me, noticing my heavy breathing.

"This place gives me the creeps. Let's find something cool and get outta here." Jack said.

Yeah, let's keep on moving.

And that's when we stumbled upon it—a sprawling warehouse, its windows shattered and its walls adorned with graffiti. All four of us gasped.

"Whoa, check this place out! It's like something out of a post-apocalyptic movie." Jack looked around and shuddered.

"Creepy, but cool. Let's see what's inside." Miko took a quick snap of all the graffiti as we continued walking deeper.

With cautious steps, we approached the entrance of the warehouse, the darkness within beckoning us like a siren's call. As we crossed the threshold, the sound of our footsteps echoed against the empty halls, a haunting melody that seemed to resonate with the ghosts of the past.

But our exploration was short-lived. Just as we were beginning to unravel the mysteries of the abandoned warehouse, a distant rumble filled the air, followed by the unmistakable sound of metal grinding against metal. We all froze in our spots.

"Guys? What was that?" Raf gulped. I held onto his shoulders and brought him close.

"I don't know, but it doesn't sound good. Let's get out of here." Jack told us.

"No way! We came this far, let's go check out what's ahead of us!" Miko yelled as she obnoxiously ran ahead.

"Miko!" Jack called out as we ran after her.

We ran deeper into the building and saw sunlight, and noticed our exit.

Miko was running towards another warehouse. And we ran after her, hoping to stop her.

But as we ventured closer, we heard the sounds of metal clashing against each other.

I gripped Jack's arms, feeling the tension in the air.

We managed to catch up with Miko. She was hiding behind a giant piece of debris as she took in her surroundings.

We froze when we realized what was happening.

We saw our autobot guardians, engaging a few Decepticons in a fight.

The once silent industrial district erupted into chaos as the Autobots clashed with the Decepticons. The ground trembled beneath our feet as metal clashed against metal, the air thick with the scent of burning rubber and ozone.

"Whoa, this is insane!" Raf uttered.

"I can't believe we stumbled into the middle of a battle!" Jack shook his head in disbelief.

Miko started climbing to the top of the small structure and the rest of us followed, hoping she won't fall and injured herself.

My heart raced with fear as we watched the towering figures of the Autobots and Decepticons exchange blows. I gripped onto Jack's arm tightly, my eyes wide with apprehension. Raf did the same to the other arm.

"Don't worry, Erin, Raf. We'll stay back here where it's safe." He assured us.

Suddenly, amidst the chaos, a sleek blue and white figure dashed onto the battlefield, weaving through the melee with astonishing agility.

"Who's that?" Rad adjusted his glasses.

"I don't know, but it looks like he's fighting alongside the Autobots!"

"Cover me! I've got this!" He shouted as his hands transformed into blasters.

"Acknowledged. Stay focused!" Optimus Prime instructed the newcomer.

With a nod of determination, the newconer darted forward, engaging the Decepticons with unparalleled speed and precision. His blasters fired in rapid succession, sending bursts of energy soaring through the air as he deftly dodged incoming attacks.

I watched in awe as he fought alongside the Autobots, his courage and skill was in my admiration.

The once quiet industrial district erupted into a battlefield as the Autobots clashed with the Decepticons. The ground shook with each thunderous blow, and the air crackled with energy as metal clashed against metal.

Arcee, with her sleek agility, danced around her opponents, delivering precise strikes with her twin blades. She moved like a blur, striking swiftly and gracefully, leaving a trail of sparks in her wake.

Unfortunately, a Decepticon struck her and she fell back in shock, nearly knocking over the piece of structure we were on.

"Arcee!" Jack instinctively shouted and the Autobots turned towards us.

"The children? What are you guys doing here!" Bulkhead demanded an explanation as Bumblebee went to help Arcee.

"Bulk, look out!" Miko shouted, noticing a Decepticon about to blast at him.

Bulkhead, towering over his adversaries, unleashed his brute strength with devastating force. With each swing of his massive fists, he sent the Decepticon flying through the air, their metallic forms crashing into the ground with a resounding thud.

Bumblebee, small in stature but fierce in battle, darted between opponents with lightning speed. His blasters fired with pinpoint accuracy, each shot finding its mark as he weaved through the chaos, leaving a trail of smoking wreckage in his wake.

And at the heart of the battle stood Optimus Prime, a towering figure of strength and courage. With his iconic sword and shield in hand, he led his team with unwavering resolve, his every move a testament to his commitment to protecting humanity.

However, we were so mesmerized by the action, that we didn't notice the danger creeping upon us, until Optimus yelled at the autobots.

"Autobots, protect the children!" We looked aside, and saw a Decepticon about to shoot at us! I instinctively covered my head with my hands as the others did the same.

Without hesitation, Smokescreen sprang into action, his instincts kicking in as he swiftly took aim and fired at the Decepticon. The shot struck true, sending the Decepticon crashing into the ceiling with a resounding impact.

The building trembled ominously as debris rained down around us, threatening to collapse at any moment. Terror seized our hearts as we realized the danger we were in.

"Autobots, to me! Grab your human charges and get them to safety!" Optimus commanded, wasting no time.

Arcee, Bulkhead, Bumblebee, and the newbie moved with lightning speed, Arcee grabbing Jack, Bulkhead grabbing Miko and Bumblebee grabbing Raf, missing me.

I heard a crack from above and looked up in horror to see a large piece of debris about to fall on me and crush me!

I bent down to my knees and put my arms over my head, wanting this to end as quickly as possible.

But suddenly, I felt something grab me and all I could see was my life flashing before my eyes, and the dizziness overcoming my vision.

When I opened them, I looked to see the new guy's face in front of me. He had saved me!

"I gotcha," he smiled as he continued running out of there.

He caught up with the rest of the autobots and we all saw sunlight up ahead. They started running faster, getting closer to the sunlight, and right before the building could collapse on all of us, the autobots all dived out, shielding us in the process.

As we stumbled out of the crumbling building, relief washed over us like a wave. The building crumpled, causing a lot of dust to go into the air which made me cough.

The autobots put the four of us down and we ran towards each other.

"You guys alright?" Jack asked in his usual Big Brotherly tone. I smiled and nodded my head. All of us were drenched in sweat and covered in dust and dirt.

Amidst the chaos, the new guy couldn't contain his excitement, cheering jubilantly as he surveyed the scene.

"Whoo! That was awesome! Did you see that shot?" He happily celebrated.

But his celebration was short-lived as Arcee approached, her expression stern and disapproving.

"Yes we did and that was very reckless of you! You could have brought the whole building down on top of us!" She scolded.

"Hey, at least the enemy is scrap!" He smiled. "And I helped you save one of your, uh, pets," he looked at me.

Pets? Jeez.

"Thank you, fellow autobot. Your valor is to be commended," Optimus appeared behind him.

"I don't believe it! Y-you're Optimus Prime!" He gasped. "I didn't notice or recognize him in the fight earlier coz of all the confusion, but he's Optimus Prime," he whispered to the other bots excitedly.

"Yeah, we know," Bulkhead and Arcee said like it wasn't such a big deal.

"What is your name soldier?" Optimus asked the newbie.

"Smokescreen, sir!" He saluted Optimus.

"Welcome to Earth, Smokescreen," Optimus extended his hand out towards him and smiled warmly. Smokescreen hesitated, but took it.

"It's an honour to be here! Especially with you!" He shook his hand.

"So, now what?" Jack asked.

"It's not like we can just bring him back to base," Bulkhead pointed.

"Wouldn't be the first time an ally turned out to be a plant," Arcee continued. Optimus hesitated. He seemed to notice the symbol on the side of his arm.

"I see that you received your training from Cybertron's elite guard," Optimus pointed out.

"True enough though it wasn't more than a boot camp by the time I joined. I never even got a proper graduation ceremony," he complained.

"There was a war going on," Arcee reminded him.

"Hey, all I ever wanted was to be a soldier, serve the Autobot cause. But what I got was security detail at Iacon," he sighed.

"The Hall of Records of all places? Optimus, do you not find this highly suspicious?" Arcee questioned.

"Smokescreen, what was your assignment inside the hall?" Optimus asked the newbie.

"Guarding Alpha Trion during what turned out to be the final days of the war," he replied.

"You served under the master archivist?"

"Eh, I wasn't thrilled at first watching the back of an old bot instead of kicking Con tailpipe." The rest of the autobots stared at him disapprovingly.

"Sorry, he apologized. "But the big "A" turned out to be a great teacher and a true friend. I mean, he was the one who petitioned Halogen and the High Council to make you a Prime."

Optimus paused.

"Ratchet activate the ground bridge," he concluded.

"That's it? That's all you need to hear before inviting him to the party?" Arcee asked in disbelief.

"If my former mentor shared this information, it is because he considered Smokescreen a trusted ally," Optimus said, as the groundbridge opened and we went through. Arcee stayed behind Smokescreen, to keep an eye on him the the four of us trailed behind her.

"We haven't had somebody new here since Wheeljack!" Miko explained as we walked out of the groundbridge back into the familiar base.

"What's your story, Smoke? Where'd you come from? How'd you get here? How many blasters you packin'?" Miko 'interrogated' him eagerly, as Optimus explained the situation to a confused Ratchet.

"So, these are the life-force we're supposed to protect? Are they all like this?" Smokescreen seemed uncertain.

Fortunately not, I signed, and was glad to see him reacting back in understanding.

"Sign language huh? Can't talk or the silent type?" He asked. I put up one finger to indicate the first one. He nodded in understanding.

"What happened to your leg?" He pointed, as I looked down. My pants were a bit torn, exposing the fake leg underneath it.

Long story

"I too share Miko's fascination with how you came to arrive on Earth," Ratchet distracted him.

"In a Decepticon escape pod," Arcee glared suspiciously.

"Still got trust issues, huh? Tough crowd," he shrugged before explaining his backstory.

"The main thrust of combat operations was at least 20 clicks from the Hall of Records, so things had been pretty quiet. But the situation went downhill fast. The Cons launched a massive surge that wiped out the last line of defenses surrounding Iacon.
I was the only thing left to them back, and, let me tell you, I was pumped. I mean, this was my chance to see real action for the first time to prove myself. Until everything went black. Cons took me prisoner and dumped me onto a transport ship. But I managed to give a guard the slip and hopped in an escape pod. Apparently, it was a long-distance pod, 'cause it knocked me into stasis.Next thing I knew, I'm hitting solid ground hard."

"The Decepticon warship must have picked up pod's beacon and guided it to Earth," Ratchet realized.

"Which would explain Smokescreen's welcoming committee. Bet those Cons were disappointed not to find one of their own inside," Arcee smiled, seeming to finally accept him.

"Smokescreen, do you know of Alpha Ttrion's fate, after the fall of Iacon?" Optimus worriedly asked the bot.

"I wish I did. But that was the last I ever saw of him," he admitted. Optimus's face fell.

"That's it my life story. Not exactly the glory I envisioned for myself until now. Being here with Optimus Prime I knew I was destined for great things. I mean, now that you have help, how hard could it be to end this war?" He exclaimed happily.

We all looked at each other, not having the answer to that question.

"Smokescreen, I would suggest that you take some time to become acclimated to your new surroundings. A tour of the base would be an excellent start," Optimus suggested.

I smiled and put my hands up.

"Very well, Erin and Jack will give Smokescreen a tour of our base," Optimus nodded.

Smokescreen looked at the both of us and we smiled at him.
