Midnight Dosa
>>>>---- 💘 ----<<<<

Important author's note at the end, please remember to read

>>>>---- 💘 ----<<<<

As 403 lay on the expansive, plush bed in the guest room of Avi's mansion, his jaw dropped in awe at the sheer size of the space surrounding him. Coming from his modest cottage in his own world, the grandeur of the room was almost overwhelming. Despite being furnished with two additional smaller rooms-one serving as a bathroom and the other as a wardrobe-the vast expanse of the guest room left 403, marvelling at the magnitude of the mansion's construction. He couldn't help but wonder about the countless individuals and the extensive time it must have taken to build just this one room, let alone the entire mansion itself.

Slumped on the plush guest room bed, 403 reached for the remote control lying nearby. Recalling Cupid 194's advice about studying humans through movies, he decided to give it a try. Though initially unsure of what to expect, 403 had conducted some research and now felt prepared to delve into the world of cinema.

Pressing the red button at random, he watched as the television screen flickered to life. Navigating through the menu, 403 discovered the option to select a genre. Without hesitation, he chose romance, eager to gain insights into the intricacies of human emotions and relationships.

The initial idea was to study humans and why love was a hard surface for them. But it was long forgotten as 403 found himself from confused at Jessy in Vinnai thaandi varuvaaiya to crying for Anjali in Enna Solla Pogirai. By the time his movie marathon ended, he felt like he'd been through the wringer.

He was in the bathtub contemplating, why do humans have to complicate love?

To 403, love seemed as straightforward as following a recipe: see someone, realize they're your "someone," profess your love, tie the knot, and voila! Happy ever after. And hey, don't forget the two-day break the ministry generously grants the cupids at the completion of each assignment. Easy peasy, right? He could only imagine that, especially with an assignment like Avi.

As he dressed himself, 403 couldn't help but shake his head in disbelief at the complications humans attributed to matters of the heart. If only they knew the chaos and confusion that ensued behind the scenes.

Descending for dinner much later in the night, 403 breathed a sigh of relief as he found the house deserted. Creeping into the kitchen in search of a late-night snack, he froze in the doorway when he spotted Mithra inside.

Mithra couldn't help but stifle a chuckle as she laid eyes on Shakthi's bright pink pajamas, which seemed to clash spectacularly with his perplexed expression. Suppressing her amusement, she met his gaze with a mischievous twinkle in her eye.

Hi

Hi

Yedhachum venuma?

( Do you need something?)

403 blinked hesitantly before finally mustering the courage to speak, his voice tinged with uncertainty.

Saapdha vandhen

( I came to eat )

Mithra's eyes widened in realization as she noticed that the guest hadn't been given any food. Making a mental note to address the oversight with the servants in the morning, she resolved to ensure that everyone in the household received proper care and attention.

Sorry nga, yevlo pasila irundhurpinga. Inime unga room ku dinner yedhuthu vara solren

( I'm so sorry, you must be hungry. I'll ask them to bring your dinner to your room from now on)

Illa paravala nga, modha yaaro kuptanga, naan dhan pasikalanu venumnu solten.

( No it's alright, someone did call me for dinner, it's me who weren't hungry.)

Earlier, he had been called for dinner multiple times, but he was so engrossed in Remo's proposal that he stubbornly refused to be distracted.

Neenga utkarunga, na dhosa soodhren

( You can sit please, I'll make dosa for you)

403's face contorted in confusion. What on earth was a dosa, and why would someone shoot it? Still grappling with the nuances of this new language and the peculiarities of human slang, he couldn't help but feel utterly bewildered by the situation.

Unbeknownst to him, Mithra harbored a passion for cooking. Initially, she had learned to cook in hopes of persuading Avi to dine at home instead of eating out. However, over time, she had grown to genuinely enjoy cooking.

As she poured the dosa batter onto the pan, Mithra glanced sideways at Shakthi and couldn't help but notice his bewildered expression.

Idhuku munnadhi dosa'ye patadhu illaya?

( Have you never seen a dosa before?)

Mithra posed her question jokingly, but her amusement faded when Shakthi shook his head negatively in response. Frowning momentarily, she then recalled that he had grown up in a Western culture, where dosas were likely not a common sight. Shrugging her shoulders, she hoped he would enjoy it nonetheless as she plated the dosa with chutney and handed it to him.

403 stared at the food in his hand, his expression a mixture of curiosity and uncertainty. Sensing his hesitation, Mithra pushed aside her initial judgments and decided to assist him. With a warm smile, she tore off a piece of the dosa,

Idha ipdhi yedhutu..

(Tore it like this..)

Indha chutney'la thottu..

( Dip it into this chutney..)

she continued, dipping the torn piece into the accompanying chutney and popping it into her mouth with gusto. 403 watched her movements intently, observing as she savored the flavors. With a hesitant sigh, he mimicked her actions, following her lead as he cautiously took a bite of the dosa.

As soon as the food touched his taste buds, his eyes widened in astonishment. Shocked by the burst of flavors, he snapped his head back and forth between Mithra and the dosa, again and again, his expression alternating between disbelief and amazement.

Concerned by his reaction, Mithra hesitated before gently inquiring,

Yenna achu? Nalla illaya?

( What happened? Is it too bad?)

However, Shakthi made an exaggerated thumbs-up sign and eagerly expressed,

Super'ah irukunga!

( It's superb!)

Mithra chuckled, shaking her head at him.

Innum kedhaikuma?

( Can I get more?)

>>>>---- 💘 ----<<<<

Avi was taken aback when he returned home to the unexpected sound of laughter emanating from the kitchen. Curious, he followed the source of the noise and furrowed his brow in confusion at the sight that greeted him. His sister was bustling about, engrossed in cooking, while Shakthi sat perched on the kitchen counter, savoring his food with gusto as if he hadn't eaten in days.

Ivan vandhu oru naal kuda agala..

( Hasn't even been a day since he came..)

Avi thought to himself, his surprise evident in the furrow of his brow. Clearing his throat to announce his presence, a departure from his usual silent entrances, Avi felt a twinge of discomfort at the thought of leaving his sister to entertain their guest alone. Mithra looked up from her cooking and greeted him with a warm smile, but Shakthi seemed too engrossed in his meal to notice Avi's arrival.

Va Avi, dosa venuma?

( Do you want dosa Avi?)

Avi nodded as he approached Shakthi, leaning casually against the counter with one hand while the other rested on his waist. Clearing his throat once more, Avi attempted to capture Shakthi's attention, but the sudden movement startled Shakthi, causing him to start hiccupping uncontrollably. Avi sighed in exasperation before fetching a glass of water and offering it to Shakthi,

Thank you

403 grinned gratefully at Avi, expressing his thanks as he continued to enjoy his meal. Observing Shakthi's childlike enthusiasm for his food, Avi couldn't help but be amused, a subtle smile playing at the corners of his lips. It was a rare moment of levity in his otherwise serious and guarded face.

Nalla iruka?

( Is it good?)

Fantastic, fantabulous, indha madhiri na yengayume saaptadhu illa!

( Fantastic, fantabulous, I've never had anything like this anywhere!)

Avi glanced back at Mithra, who chuckled at Shakthi's exuberance. As she handed Avi his plate, he too leaned against the kitchen counter, mirroring Shakthi's relaxed posture. With a curious glance at Mithra, Avi inquired,

Nee saptiya?

( Have you eaten?)

Mithra nodded to her brother, before she asked Shakthi,

Shakthi, innonu venuma?

( Shakthi, do you want another?)

However, Shakthi was too engrossed in his meal to notice her question, still not accustomed to being addressed by that name.

Shakthi?

Mithra repeated, trying to capture his attention.

Avi, noticing Shakthi's obliviousness, nudged him gently with his elbow in an attempt to draw his focus. Startled, 403 blinked up at them, momentarily taken aback by the interruption.

Huh?

Innonu venuma?

( Do you want another?)

Illa'nga podhum, thanks

( Nope, I'm good. Thanks)

Mithra finally switched off the stove, standing beside Avi who was pondering the supposed specialness of today's dosa. It seemed like any other day to him. Turning to Mithra, he remarked,

Normal'ah dhane iruku?

(It tastes pretty ordinary to me.)

Enna madhiri first time saaptu partha dhane bro theriyum?

( You should try it for the first time like me to understand how delicious it is)

Shakthi chimed in between bites, capturing the attention of both Avi and Mithra.

Avi leaned back slowly, whispering a warning to Mithra,

Nee konjam jakradha'yave iru

( Watch out for him.)

However, Mithra couldn't help but unknowingly smile at Shakthi. For the first time in a long while, someone had accompanied her in her loneliness, and her brother was eating at home after a long time, without even him realizing it.

As she watched Shakthi continue to eat with evident enjoyment, Mithra placed her chin on Avi shoulder as she watched him. Grateful and a little beyond it, she found herself feeling a sense of warmth towards him.

Thank you so much for 1k with only 2 chapters! Love you all.

Last time na 403'ah 403 nu kupudha oru reason irukunu sonnen, neenga yellarum nenachinganu enaku therla, but yaarume en reason'eh nenaikilanu enaku feel achu. So paravala na sollirren

Adhavadhu, according to him, he is not Shakthi but 403, he doesn't see himself as Shakthi. which is why he is referred to as Shakthi only from others pov, but from his pov it's 403.

like you guys can see closely in this chapter, how his referring changes accordingly with the characters. So I hope it's understandable.
