(This is a small side story imma do to relieve you guys from all the angst that has been going on around the story rn, so while i cook the last few chapters, i'll write about 2 chapters for this little side story (although that might change)

After the meeting had finally ended, Sera explained to Emily why she made that harsh decision
As much as she didn't want to....
Disappointed and saddened
Emily was about to leave when she heard the group of teens Alex called out to earlier, confronting Sera
They were discussing with her, asking several questions, but she shushed them down, and dismissed them
She heard the entire conversation
And after they left through the main entrance, she was startled to suddenly see them leave
Trying to avoid being caught eavesdropping, she pretended she just saw them while passing by
"H-hey...guys"
She greeted them sheepishly
When they saw her, they bowed slightly
The tallest of the group, Aiden, glanced up at her repeatedly, he was unusually nervous to be in her presence
"S-seraphim Emily, do you need anything?"
She waved her hand down
"Please, there's no need to be so formal, just call me Em, as always"
She tried to let out a chuckle but it came out dry and cold
She wasn't really feeling the best right now, but she still felt the need to apologize
She bowed to them, which startled the group, her voice was wavering
"I-i...i apologize on behalf of Sera and the other rulers of Heaven"
"Be-because of the wrongs we have committed against you..."
Aiden frantically waved his hands to her, the other two followed suit
"N-no! Please don't apologize, i-it's not your fault"
She raised her eyes to him
"But..."
He interrupted her, although not in a rude manner
"Please, you even sided with him, you risked a lot there as a Seraphim, if anything we're really grateful to you"
Hearing his consolation, she could tell he was being honest by the warm smile on his face
Tears welled up in her eyes, she started crying and hugged him
"Thank yooouuu!"
Her words were slurred due to her incessant crying, he blushed at her hugging him so suddenly
She's...she's so soft...
"T-there there"
He patted her head, caressing it gently
Seeing this, Luke and Lucas smirked at each other, and then at Aiden
What are they planning?
They began walking away, pointing at him with finger guns, Lucas whispered "good luck" to him
Aiden was beyond shocked
These fuckers! Don't jump into assumptions!!!
I can't believe you did this to me!

He looked at his friends with scorn until they were out of sight
After a little while of sobbing, Emily seemed to have calmed down, she rubbed her eyes while looking down
"Sorry about that, i'm just...so shocked, those exterminations....they're awful"
Seeing her cry like this was unexpected, especially since she was a Seraphim, but he was alright with it
Afterall, he knew her rather well, one could say they were friends
Since it was Emily's role to bring joy to all of Heaven's residents, she spent a lot of time cheering him and the others up, at that time, two years ago
They had just lost a friend, they thought Alex was gone forever for sure, but she gave them hope amidst their despair
Her cheerful personality was something Aiden didn't know he needed
But despite spending a lot of time together, he never knew her too personally, being way too shy to properly ask her about personal things
One reason was her position as a Seraphim, but the main reason was probably because she was the very first girl he had actual feelings for
He was greatly confused with himself at first when she caused him to have butterflies in his stomach
Her smile made his heart race, and he didn't know why...
Aiden never had issues with girls, he never felt nervous around them either
Maybe because he never truly loved any of the girls he ever dated, at least not romantically
But after two long years he realized that these feelings...
They were real, very real
He was in love with a Seraphim of all things, and his friends knew it, which often led to situations like this, where they just vanish out of sight, and leave him with her
"I know...i don't like the exterminations too..."
"That was a pretty spooky reveal"
Emily: "You don't sound surprised"
Aiden looked down with a smile
"You know....yesterday, he walked over to us like nothing"
"I thought that if we ever saw him again, it would be a huge surprise"
"Or some grand entrance"
"But he just...walked over and said hi"
"It was like talking to a ghost, and i felt like an immature kid for thinking it would be something glorious"
Emily sniffed a little, her nose stuffy from crying, she patted his shoulder, which earned a little blush from him
"You saw your friend for the first time in two years, of course you'd be shocked"
"I guess that's why the exterminations didn't surprise you"
Aiden: "Sigh, yeah..."
He sat down on a bench
"I had a hunch anyways, didn't think it would be true though"
She slowly sat down next to him, it seemed like she wanted to talk a little more
Aiden: "Don't you need to go and uh...bring joy to all?"
Emily flinched slightly
"I uh...i-i don't know if i can right now"
She slided a little farther away from him, as if to give him space
Aiden realized how foolish it was to say something like that out of the blue, and he facepalmed
Good job you moron, now she thinks you don't wanna see her
Not only that, but i bet she's too sad and hurt about what she found out recently
I suck at socializing so muchh!!

"S-sorry"
His voice was barely above a whisper, but it still reached her ears
"Huh? For what?"
Aiden: "I didn't mean to...be rude...if that's how i came off"
He covered half his face with his hand, looking to the side with half closed eyes, a small blush dyed his cheek red
She noticed how timid and nervous he was, and in her eyes it was nothing short of adorable
Cute...
"It's okay...that's not what i got from you at all!"
She moved closer to him, sitting right by his side
Aiden felt relieved that he didn't offend her
There was an awkward silence between them until Aiden got a wonderful idea
"H-hey how about we go for a stroll around?
She smiled a little, the idea seemed just swell, maybe she could still enjoy herself
"Sounds good..."
He got up from the bench, and lended his hand to her with a smug
"Your majesty?"
She smiled, raising an eyebrow, and looking to her side
"Pff-..."
Aiden: "C'moon~"
She closed her eyes and playfully took a deep breath, making herself "formal", looking towards him again
She opened her eyes and took his hand
"It's a pleasure...commoner"
Aiden: "Pff-!"
Both of them tried to hold in their laughs, and so they headed to the main plaza of the heavenly city
While they strolled around, Aiden spoke up
Aiden: "Hey uh...i'm sure you noticed Alex reacts kinda....explosively, to bad news"
Emily: "I thought that reaction was understandable"
Aiden flinched slightly
"Y-yeah...it was, but you know...he always reacts like that to...bad things"
Emily looked at him
"Is that so?"
Aiden: "Yeah...so i just wanna say that, if we ever see him again, just know that it's part of him, he has some anger issues"
"His father wasn't...exactly the nicest person"
Emily's eyes widened slightly, knowing this only made her feel worse about Alex being sent down
"Oh Lord...that poor soul"
Seeing how that affected her, Aiden facepalmed
You MORON, you're supposed to make feel BETTER!
"H-hey how about we go there?"
He pointed towards an arcade that was open
She glanced at it, and brightened up slightly
"Sounds fun..."
While inside, Aiden thought of something that could make this more fun
Aiden: "How about we make a bet?"
Emily: "Hm?"
Aiden: "Whoever gets more tickets can choose the price we get"
Emily: "Ha! I'm in!"
She leaned close to his face, staring into his eyes with a smug
"Don't regret it if i gift you a doll!"
Aiden blushed at her sudden approach
But quickly brushed it off
"Heh! Speak for yourself!"
First they went to a game of basketball, the goal was to throw a few balls on the hole inside the machine, it was decorated with lighting and little hearts
Aiden lost miserably
Emily: "Pff- should've practiced better"
Aiden scoffed
"Basketball's not my thing anyways"
While they scanned around for other games, a beautiful swan plushie catched Aiden attention
Woah....i NEED to win now, i need to get that for her, it fits perfectly
"How about that one?"
She pointed to a little water gun game
"Ooh, i used to play shooting games while i was alive, you're screwed!"
Aiden did a lot of exaggerated poses while shooting water beams from absurd angles, and he landed every single shot on the the targets
A small mountain of tickets got out of the machine, this intimidated Emily
Aiden looked at her with a smug
"Throwing the towel already??"
"N-no...this is nothing!"
She tried to play the game too, but it barely started and she was already losing
"Why won't they sit still?!"
As the game finished, the only did half the points she needed to catch up to him
"Argh!"
And Aiden was beaming with happiness, though she pinched his cheek
"Don't get cocky already! There's plenty of games!"
As she walked away to find other games, Aiden stared at her from behind

I don't see it yet
There was something missing about her at the moment
She's not as cheerful
I guess...she can't laugh, can she?
Not after the news
Then he set a goal for himself, that be would make her laugh at least once, to bring that little spark back to her soul, that's what friends are for after all
And he loved her, for Heaven's sake
They spent the next hour competing about who gets the most tickets
Playing a game about sliding a disk across a table and mark points
They played pinball
Competitive tetris, which was a one-sided beating by Emily
Finally there was only the photo cabine left, Aiden was a little worried
She hasn't let out a single chuckle...
At least I'll get that swan
Inside the cabin, he saw that it had a few costumes, he grabbed one, and put it on
"Look Em! I'm a Aidenchovy"
He lifted his hands up cutely, only his head sticking out, he looked like a small little chubby bean, even though the costume was a fish
Her eyes widened in response, and her cheeks swelled up with air
"PFF- HAHAHA!"
"You look so funny!"
Ah...there it is...
Finally she laughed out loud, it warmed his heart, and he smiled a little
Aiden: "Funny and handsome aye?"
Emily: "Wheeze"
They took a few photos
In one of them they were both posing in a "cool" way, crossing their arm with a smug and leaning on each other's backs
In another, they pulled their faces to look goofy
In yet another one, she flew a little so she would be taller than him and hugged him, pressing his face against her chest, he was a blushing mess in the photo while she did a peace sign and smile
After the photos
She was still wiping a few tears from her eyes
Emily: "Oof, my face hurts, i laughed too much"
Suddenly she felt something soft pressing against her face, when she opened her eyes she saw a little beak, and white feathers
Aiden: "H-here...for you"
Emily: "..."
She gasped a little
"Really?"
Aiden: "Yeah...i...i noticed you were a little down"
"Which is understandable of course!, h-haha!"
He waved his hands left and right sheepishly, trying to justify himself
"So...i figured i might try to...cheer you up, even if it's just this..."
After he said this
She looked down at the swan she was holding and then back at him
And her face poofed in a scarlet red blush
"T-thank you..."
She buried half her face on the plushie, looking down a little
"I really like it"
He blushed too, although much more than she did, he gripped his chest for a moment
MY HEART!!
She's too freaking cute...agh!
Despite being a bit shy, Emily noticed something on his hand
"Eh? Why is your hand hurt?"
Aiden: "Huh? This?...oh..."
Upon seeing those wounds, Aiden was reminded of not so sweet memories
Trauma follows one down to their grave, and bounds itself into their soul
Those wounds on his knuckles...always reminded him of...times of despair
Aiden: "Oh it's...it's nothing..."
Emily: "How come i've never noticed these?
Seeing how he was slightly shakened up by this, she was concerned
"Are you sure you're okay?..."
Aiden's face turned from a nervous forced smile to a bit of a sad face
"Let's just say...i used to have anger issues...too"
She held his hand and caressed it
Although, he didn't blush much this time...
"Okay then, just...you can always tell me if you're feeling under the weather okay?"
He smiled a little
"Okay..."
"Let's go?"
Emily grinned at him
"Yeah..."
When they were about to leave, Aiden bumped into someone, although he kinda bounced off their belly and almost fell
"Oof...s-sorry about that-"
"Watch where you're fucking going, asshole"
Aiden instantly recognized that voice
It was Adam
He immediately frowned upon seeing him, crossing his arms
"Adam, still gaining weight as always huh?"
Adam glared at him, while Lute appeared behind him
Lute: "Respect your superior, Aiden"
Aiden: "I don't remember asking your opinion"
Adam scowled and lunged towards him, stopping inches away from his face, Aiden flinched at this, although he recovered and returned the glare
Adam: "Listen here crybaby, i only followed your lame ass all the way over this place because Sera needs to see Emily, and she won't stop bothering me about it, so shut your trap and go cry somewhere else"
Aiden: "That nickname is getting old fat ass"
Adam: "Get used to it, you were the one who cried everyday for the past two years 'cause:
OoOoH mY fRiEnD iS sTuCk dOwN tHeRe"
"So much that Emily had to spend hours on your pathetic presence just to calm you down"
"You're an issue bitch, don't get in my way"
Aiden shrinked down, his face melting into a mix of lack of confidence and sadness, he looked down, unable to say anything else
"Adam! That's enough!"
Emily stepped in, stopping Adam in his tracks
He just sighed
"Alright princess, let's go"
He grabbed her arm and pulled her along with him
"Ow ow! Alright! Geez!"
Seeing his angel get treated like an object made Aiden furious, and fueled by pure rage he snapped out of his intimidated state
"Mind being more gentle?"
He said, pulling his arm away from her
Adam growled
"Look, i don't have time for this, just go cry in a corner and let me do my fucking job"
"Unless you want a punch to the face"
Aiden glared into his eyes
"Try me"
Emily tried to separated them both
"W-wait, guys let's not fight, i'll just go-"
Though it was a little too late
Adam: "You fucking wimp! I'll give you a reason to cry"
He threw a punch at him, though in Aiden's eyes, everything seemed to slow down
And it all faded to white
Husk: "Hey kid..."
Alex: "Hm?"
Husker handed over a cup of wine to him
Husk: "Ain't ya worried about your other friends up there?"
"If what you told us about what happened in the meeting was right...they could get into trouble for questioning the big bosses up there no?"
Alex chuckled at this
"I'm sure they'll be fine"
He smiled while moving his cup a little, seeing the wine spin around inside it
"I gave them a little gift before leaving"
Husk: "A gift?"
Alex: "Yeah....and Aiden knows how to fight..."
"They'll be just fine"
Back in Heaven, Aiden deflected Adam's punch, grabbing his wrist, and throwing his own fist at him, putting his back into it
It was a clean hit, it sent shockwaves and golden lighting all around, which surprised Aiden too
Adam was knocked back, slided a few meters away, still landing on his feet
Aiden looked at his fist confused
Black flash??
He was genuinely excited about what just happened
Wait no, that was golden
Adam on the other hand, was even more pissed off
"You fucking cunt!"
Before he could lunge at Aiden again, Lute stopped him
"Sir, not here! Everyone is watching"
Adam: "Let me go! He punched me in the face, that fucker!"
Lute: "I know! I'm angry too, but we can't start a fight in public!
Adam was more convinced after that, not willing to get in trouble with Sera
"Fine...but i'll remember this..."
Lute glared at Aiden, and spoke with a silent yet clearly angry tone
"I hope you know that this insolence won't go unpunished"
Aiden just rolled his eyes
Emily walked over to him
"A-are you okay?!"
"You didn't get hurt right??"
Adam: "Why are you asking him that?, I'm the one who got hurt"
She turned around and gave him a cold glare
"You're the one who started this Adam"
Adam was shocked at this response from her
"Scary..."
He said, shrugging nonchalantly afterwards
It was clear she had resentment over him, after finding out what he had been doing for the last millenia
Emily turned back to Aiden
Looking at him with puppy eyes
Aiden blushed a little
"I-i'm okay..."
Emily: "No you're not! You're shaking!"
Aiden: "Yeaaah m-maybe i'm not really happy about punching someone, even if it's Adam
He looked at his shaking hands
Ugh...i hate fights...i shouldn't have gone so far
Though that was satisfying
Emily: "Are you sure you're fine?"
Aiden held her hands gently, which earned a blush from her
"I'll be fine, just go alright?"
"Don't forget this"
He gave her the swan plushie from earlier
"A beautiful gift for a beautiful angel"
Her eyes widened, and her feathers and hair fluttered a little
He gave her a soft kiss on her hand, and she went on her way, walking along with Adam and Lute, holding the swan close to her heart
That was...kind of cool...i didn't know he was this strong
Once they were out of sight, Aiden fell to his knees, becoming a blushing mess
"Oh my God...i actually flirted with her..."
He lied down on his back, arms and legs stretched to the sides
"Aaaaaghh!"
He covered his face with his hands and kicked his feet
Although this little moment was interrupted when he felt his own hands shaking
He stared at them for a couple seconds, then clenched them into a fist, inhaling deeply
"It's okay..."
"It was for a good reason..."
"I'm not....like that anymore..."
"If i'm up here, then that's enough proof"
He got up, and headed to his own home
It was overall a great day, he felt like he got closer to Emily, which made him really happy
