six months later~~
"AH"
Me and Jo's friends started bursting out laughing when I jumpscared Jo in the canteen queue.
"Ah that was priceless" Nicholas said.
"His reaction was gold" EJ added on.
"I was gonna say y/n's coming but then she went like this so I didn't and I'm glad I didn't" Harua said as he demonstrated when I signalled for him to not say anything when he saw me and was clearly about to tell them I'm coming.
"Same" Maki said, as he too saw me when I was approaching them.
"Nah but you even scared me" Taki said as his hand was on his chest.
"Of course she did." Yuma said, knowing all well that Taki gets scared of everything.
"Yeah I saw you jump" Nicholas said to him while laughing again.
"Oh by the way im'ma just cut in the line with you guys here 'cause there's no way I'm going to the back of that." I said, pointing the back of the queue which was like miles away.
"I might come watch you guys practice after school. I have nothing better to do, all my friends made plans." I said to them.
"Oh that would be nice." Maki said.
"Yeah you can give us feedback" Jo said.
"Wah, true captain right there" EJ said, making us laugh a little.
We eventually got our food and they sat with the rest of their friends while I went to sit with mine.
"How was talking to Jo?" one of my friends asked as I sat down.
"I playfully rolled my eyes and told them "is Jo all you lot can think of?" and they giggled.
"Okay but seriously." another one of them said.
"Well it was good. I talked with his friends too, it was quite fun."
"Lucky girl." Reina said to me.
"Yeah you're literally friends with THE Asakura Jo like, how do you do it?" another friend asked.
"I... talk to him? Hate to break it to you ladies, but it ain't rocket science." I joked.
Anyways, after having to talk about Jo for the next twenty minutes after that, the bell rang which meant we had to go to last period, which for me was biology.
After that painfully long biology lesson, I made my way to the sports hall and sat in the stands. I waited a few minutes while scrolling through my phone before hearing faint commotion getting more and more audible from the back and echoing throughout the hall. Obviously, it was Jo and his team, so when they saw me, I said hi to all of them and we had a mini chat before they began their practice.
Jo's POV
As I was making my way to the changing rooms with Yuma I started to get a little nervous at the thought of my own crush watching us practice. I didn't have a problem with it, I was just nervous that I'd make a fool of myself infront of her or something.
"Don't worry dude, you're the captain for a reason. Just act natural, be yourself and you'll be fine." Yuma said to me while patting my shoulder.
"Thanks man" I said to him.
We then made it to the changing rooms and it was surprisingly only Harua and Fuma there, so we were pretty early.
Anyways when everyone was there I made my usual announcement and then we headed into the hall. As we were walking there I could see y/n in the stands and that's when I asked the person nearest to me, which happened to be K Hyung, if I looked okay. He said I looked great so I then continued walking with confidence, and she waved at us and we all greeted her and had a mini chat before going to actually practice.
"Okay so let's do a warm-up! You're all gonna hate me for this but let's do ten burpees and then run a lap round the court."
"UUGHHH JO-KUUNN" Nicholas exclaimed.
"What did we ever do to you?" Taki added on.
"I'm sorryyyy." I said in defence.
I looked over at y/n and we made eye confact while she was laughing with that beautiful smile on her face.
During practice I couldn't help but look over at y/n countless times. Each time I glanced over, she looked gorgeous as ever. Literally just sitting there. I don't even know how that's possible. Once practice was over, before going to the changing rooms, we went over to y/n as Maki asked her "so what did you think, y/n?"
"Honestly, you're all amazing, there's nothing more to say. You're definitely ready for the championships I'll tell you that. You're all gonna beat everyone's ass." she said while swinging her bag over her shoulder and walking down to us.
"Wow, that's actually great to hear." K Hyung said.
"Yeah, if y/n says we're ready for the championships then I believe her." Fuma said to the team, making y/n giggle as he smiled at her and we agreed with him.
"Thanks for the feedback y/n." Maki said brightly.
"My pleasure." y/n replied, smiling.
"I'll wait outside the changing rooms." she said as we went in.
y/n's POV
I said bye to a select few of the boys as they came out the changing rooms one by one or in pairs until Jo came.
"Ready to go?" I asked him.
"Yup. No one else is walking with us today." he said while putting his bag on.
"You were all seriously so good, like I can't even put it into words. I was not expecting that. Like I was expecting you guys to be super good but not this insane. I'm no expert but I think I'd be terrified to go against you lot if I had to play you." I told Jo.
"Really? Thanks y/n, that means a lot. I'll tell the team you said that." Jo said sincerely.
"Heh, alright."
"y/n, do you mind if come by yours for a bit today?" Jo asked me.
"No, of course you can come. Why, is there something going on at home, or.."
"No, no, I just wanna hang out." he said.
"Oh okay, you just said it in such a sad tone"
"No, no, don't worry, everything's fine" he reassured.
When we got to mine I officially introduced Jo to my brother and they seemed to get on pretty well while we were down there eating.
Then we went up to my room and ran into my little sister so I introduced her to Jo too, and when we got to my room he said my sister was really cute.
Anyways we talked for a bit about random stuff and I showed him random stuff around my room, we were having a good time. I was sitting in my chair while he was sitting on my bed when he said "y/n, there's actually something I want to tell you." out of the blue.
"O-okay, go on" I said.
"This is something I've been wanting to get off my chest for a long while now, especially since we've been friends. There's something I've been keeping from you on purpose for the last four years because I was afraid you wouldn't.. feel the same about it. The truth is, I love you, Hamada y/n. I want you to know that you're stunning, beautiful, cute, kind, funny, and everything. My feeling for you were strong to begin with and I didn't think they could get any stronger until we became friends. I mean, why do you think I've rejected all the other people who liked me? I was waiting for you, y/n."
This left me looking at him in disbelief because... I never.. ever thought he would like me back like that. Is this a dream come true?
"I- Jo I-is this for real? I never thought you'd have feelings for me because, well I do too. I never thought you'd like me out of all people. You have so, so many people crushing on you all over the school and you choose me? If I'm completely honest I didn't even have a crush on you before we became friends. Only thing I thought about you was that you were handsome. I also liked that you weren't one of them typical arrogant, self-absorbed heartthrobs, you've always seemed so nice and ignorant of your fans. But as soon as we became friends my feelings for you went sky-rocketing, I'm not even joking." I confessed.
"Wait, really?!" he asked in disbelief.
"Yes really." I confirmed.
"No way! Am I dreaming? This is amazing, I feel like I've accomplished something big." he said, standing up and shutting his eyes in relief/excitement which made me smile.
I stood up too and just hugged him. We stayed like that for a few seconds before pulling our heads away, but remaining in that position. I could see his cheeks turning red which was really adorable, so I let out a laugh and kissed his cheek which made them turn 100x more red. What a cutie.
The next day in school, we announced to all our friends that we were officially together. I didn't expect my friends to go as wild as they did when they heard the news. They all hugged me, and get this, they actually talked to him. But the only things they told him was to treat me right and not let them down and stuff like that. And the reaction we got from Jo's friends felt heart-warming, to be honest. I'm guessing they knew that Jo liked me all this time, obviously, and so they were happy for him that he finally gets to date his crush, so yeah, it was cute.
two weeks later~~
Me and Jo were cuddled up in his room and we just finished up watching a heart-warming movie.
We looked at eachother with pouts at how cute the movie was and honestly, the sensation of how close our faces were in that moment made me feel something. It's like something was controlling me, but I suddenly pressed my lips against his and we stayed like that just for a couple seconds. As I pulled away I got a frozen Jo for a good ten seconds.
As you could probably guess, he got ridiculously shy after that. You could tell he liked it though.
You could also tell he wanted to say something but he wasn't saying it. I didn't even have to say anything to work it out. He wanted another kiss, so I did exactly that.
After that one he giggled and looked at me lovingly.
"I love you Jo." I said to him.
"I love you too" he said back with flushed cheeks.
And that was our first kiss together.
a/n: at first I was gonna make Jo captain of a rugby team cuz I saw the first howling: now concept photos so I was like IT HAS TO BE RUGBY but bec Jo is very basketball like he literally did it for years, I decided to go for basketball 😁
