close the doors and fire escapes

put curtains on the windows

meet yourself in a dream

an escape from your life

on the roof of the municipal building

smoking cigarettes in the sunset

money in our memories, we are weeping

good american pornography

your mother was drinking it white

as you left for a new idea of love

right into the arms of a substitute

for the warmth your father never gave

so the light died in your eyes

till the sun rose that night

you left his body alone

it was for the best tonight

you came to me naked

supple and firm in your skin

only your power covered you

and i wanted to be that power

you spoke in all your glory

poetic justice on the skyline

waiting on your heart to care

at least a little about me

carry your cross to the store

buying a pack of smokes and a dream

american girls in french exits

ejaculating at the sight of time

something so cold and alone

in a manger

you think more on that day

a feeling at last for me

i wrote about you to the moon

wanting every piece of you

wishing you'd give in

and allow me to see you

so you took me to the city he slept in

and told me of the girls he slept with

reminding me what lost in your eyes

telling me to never let you go

we climbed our way to the top

of the old municipal building

to give sight to our love

and sight to the hell of it all

you held my hand and told me

''i'll never forget myself in you"

and i had to live with myself

while you lived through me

you felt love for the first time

when i touched your cheek without reason

kissed your soul with mine

and connected out skeletons forever

the few drags left of our lives

as we live on top the municipal

a perfect happening of spirits

the light of our glow

we were made in his image

love in unbreaking love

we are american pornography

sided with evangelicism and diet coke
