Once they arrived, Jongho knocked on the door and they waited a couple seconds before a shabby looking guy opened the door ever so slightly so you could barely see anything.
"Hello, we're FBI agents from Seoul Gangseo Police Station, were just here to ask a few questions about the kidnapping in the local café almost three weeks ago." Jongho said to the shady guy.
The guy proceeded to close the door while rapidly saying "sorry, don't know anything about it-" but got stopped by Yeosang as he put his foot there to stop the door from shutting.
"Sir, I'm afraid you're going to have to let us."
"Says who?"
"Says the law, sir." Yeosang replied to him, finding his behaviour rather rude.
"Fine." the man finally gave in.
"First we're gonna need your name." Jongho said.
"Uh, Choi Mark." he said almost as if he was unsure.
"Okay, first of all, were you there at the time of the event, if so did you witness it?" Jongho asked the first question.
"No, I was just walking past with my two mates."
"Okay, and do they live here with you?" Jongho asked again.
"No."
"Just a reminder sir, you're gonna have to be honest otherwise we'll have to take you into interrogation." Yeosang said to the man, as he could easily tell he was lying just by his tone and body language.
"Fine, fine, yes, they do." the guy admitted.
"And what are their names?" Jongho continued with the questions.
"Uuhhh, Joe and Ollie." he hesitantly replied.
Yeosang and Jongho were definitely right in their suspiciouns, there's no doubting that now.
"Can you call them here please?" Jongho demanded.
"I think they're both busy right now-"
"Sir if you don't call them here we can legally go into your house without your permission and speak to them ourselves." Yeosang warned him.
"Fine, fine!" the guy finally obliged. "Please wait one moment, I'll go get them." he said in a defeated tone.
So the two waited a minute or so, longer than expected for him to just go and get two people. The two already found it sketchy enough that he had to go and get them rather then just calling them over.
"Okay, I'm back." the guy said, returning with two other guys either side of him.
After talking to them, Jongho and Yeosang decided it was wise to inspect their house since their answers were mostly hesitant and strange. It took them a while to oblige but they got there eventually.
Jongho went upstairs first while Yeosang remained on the ground floor. He entered the kitchen first and looked around, his eyes circled round the place until they landed on a knife in the sink with a deep red substance on it, which he assumed couldn't be anything else but blood, however he decided to act like he didn't notice so that the three men wouldn't go off and try anything.
He looked back at one of them and they'd gulped in that moment. This was when Yeosang was 99% sure they were the kidnappers. They were making up fake names and lying to them.
He noticed that two of them were following him around while one of them went up along with Jongho. They both found this rather interesting, as if there's something they really don't want them to see.
"You can stay calm and do whatever you like while we inspect the house by the way, no need to follow." Yeosang told the two that were following him before speed-walking upstairs to find Jongho.
He ended up being in a bedroom to the right of the stairs and he saw the third guy standing just by the door.
"Agent, a word." Yeosang said to Jongho as he entered the room. Jongho gladly accepted then they both looked at the guy standing in the doorway and then he got the message and left, failing to simply close the door so Jongho had to do it for him (not forgetting to roll his eyes while doing so).
"Agent, I think I might have found something." Yeosang said almost in a whisper as both of them kept an eye on the door making sure it didn't even creek open.
"What is it?"
"I saw a knife covered in what I'm very sure was blood. It was a deep, thick, red substance, I figured it couldn't have been anything else. Then one of them gulped when I made eye contact." Yeosang explained.
"That's ironic, because I found a cloth covered in blood- or should I say a red substance so I asked him what it was from and he said hair dye but none of them have red hair. And I saw a certificate on the wall with the name Jang Hojun, that's none of their names." Jongho said.
"It's got to be them." Yeosang said.
"Well, of course. Okay I think what we should do now is check the basement and call over the actual sheriffs to hold them down while we go and check." Jongho suggested.
"Yeah, okay, you get them here while I go back downstairs to inspect some more. Then in about five minutes let's meet by the stairs." Yeosang said.
"On it." Jongho said right before silently talking into the walkie talkie to get three sheriffs here as soon as possible. Yeosang then went back downstairs while Jongho continued his inspection upstairs.
And then as they discussed, they met by the staircase after five minutes and acted like they were discussing something as the three men stared at them nervously, but also as if they were planning something which Jongho and Yeosang actually caught onto quickly.
But then there was a knock on the door and you two knew exactly who it was so you pulled out your guns and pointed them at the three men as they put their hands up.
"Drop any weapons you have on you. NOW!" Yeosang yelled at them sternly.
"You, open the door, now." Jongho told the one closest to the door, also in a stern and strict tone.
As he opened the door the three officers came barging in.
"Hands behind your backs!" one of them exclaimed as each of them went behind a guy and held their hands together firmly to handcuff them together as the officers remained behind them, one hand holding their hands together as the other had guns pointed directly to their heads.
"Now, where is the basement?" Jongho asked them, but got no response, only deadly glares from each of them.
"I said, where is the basement?!"
Still nothing.
"Answer or else you're all coming with us!" one of the officers yelled.
"Ugh fine it's to the left and then on the right." the middle one said, getting flares from the other two.
Then, Yeosang and Jongho immediately charged off in that direction, rapidly making their way down the stairs.
What they saw relieved them, yet also made them feel terrible.
"Officers!" one of the children cries out, running up to them. All three of them immediately start crying.
"Thank God you found us, we don't know how to repay you! Please help us, our mother-" the one who seemed to be the eldest cries out.
"We're here to help okay, you're in safe hands now. What have they done to you?" Jongho asked them.
None of them could say anything, they only whimpered.
"They... they-" the middle child tried to speak but could barely get words out.
"They barely gave us food or water, and we haven't showered in weeks, and they... they assaulted our mother. More than once." the middle child quietly said through sobs, almost whispering.
"And they also cut us, scratched us and beat us in many places." the eldest managed to get out through all her crying.
"Okay, you're all in safe hands now, okay? They're going to be punished severely for what they've done. No one deserves to be treated the way they treated you guys. Now, let's get you out of here. Well prepare a some delicious, filling meal, yeah?" Yeosang said.
"I'll get your mum, don't worry." Jongho said to them as he picked up the mum's corpse from the floor, bridal style.
"Follow me, and stay very close." Yeosang said, leading the way.
As they made it up and the culprits saw the victims, their faces flushed a sign of horror and they started vigorously moving around, trying to get out of the officers' grips.
"Stay still!" one of them shouted, putting the gun even closer to their head as they led them into the cop cars.
"You motherfuckers! Wh-" one of them screamed back while still trying to move in the officers grip while also being forced to get into the cop car.
"Be quiet!" the officer yelled at him.
And with that, Yeosang and Jongho were proud to say they've cracked the case. It felt so relieving for the both of them. Relieving enough that they did something they never thought they'd even consider. They planned to go have some Korean BBQ to celebrate the closing of the case and all the hard work they put into it. Of course they'd both also have a team dinner to celebrate but they somehow thought it would be nice to have one with just the two of them. It was Jongho who shyly brought it up and Yeosang was ready to say no but he thought he'd give it a shot 'cause why not? He can't miss out on the Korean BBQ.
For the BBQ they decided to just meet Infront of the restaurant. Once they went in and sat at a table, the first thing Jongho did was excuse himself to the go to the toilet while Yeosang just sat their looking at the menu. Although his eyes were on the menu, his mind was on something completely different.
He realised working with Jongho isn't all that bad. Maybe it could actually be good?
six months later~
It'd been six months and Jongho and Yeosang have gotten met, and they've gotten very close despite not being very fond of eachother in the beginning. So close to the point where they've been given more and more shared tasks because they work so well together. As much as they wanted to hate it, they knew they just simply couldn't.
They decided that they'd meet up on a day where both of them are off and just do whatever they feel like.
"Hey Jongho!"
Oh, and they dropped honorifics with eachother. Jongho only uses honorifics because Yeosang is older than him but not the same ones they used when they were just two spies working together.
"Hey Yeosang Hyung!"
And they did a little handshake before deciding to just take a walk by the river.
They talked, gossipped, laughed, everything, for atleast thirty minutes before finding a bench right by the river and sitting down for a bit.
A peaceful silence came upon them for a few minutes just before Yeosang spoke up.
"Jongho-yah"
"Hm?"
"I just wanted to say I'm really sorry for how cold and rude I was in the past. It might not have been direct but I was still inconsiderate. In all honesty, if was because I used to really dislike you as another agent-in-charge my age because I thought your tactics and all that were shit, but now coming to realise it, I don't think they're shit. I think they're fantastic. So fantastic that I didn't even realise that all of it was just jealousy. And it's great to be working a lot more with you now, I've learned a lot and I'm greatful for that so, thank you bro." Yeosang said to Jongho sincerely.
"Hyung, I should be the one to thank you. I also learned a lot from you. I love working with you if I'm honest. And I forgive you, don't even worry about it because I was also a pretty big dick to you because I actually thought the same about you when really it was all just jealousy for me too." Jongho said right back to Yeosang with a sincere smile.
After that they went in for a sweet hug.
Jongho's POV
I inhaled his sweet scent as I hugged him.
"There's actually something I'd like to say and get it off my chest." I said as we pull away from the hug.
"Go on." Yeosang said.
"I hope you don't think this is weird or anything and I also hope this doesn't affect our friendship but... I think I've gained feelings for you over the past couple months. I came to realise that the same time I realised that it wasn't hate but infact jealousy which was like three months ago, maybe? I just needed to tell you because I thought hiding it for even longer would make it harder for me to confess, and also just worse in general." I said to him in a quiet tone since I felt really shy to be confessing to my crush.
It felt great getting it off my chest after so long, but what matters is, what will he say?
"You think, or you know?" he questioned.
"What do you mean?" I asked, pretty confused.
"You said you 'think' you've gained feelings for me. You think or you know?"
This gave me a really bad feeling in the stomach. It wasn't exactly going how I anticipated.
"I- well.. what I meant to say was I've gained feelings for you I just thought saying 'think' would make me come across as less..." I failed to finish my sentence while unable to make eye-contact as he looked at me intensely waiting for my answer.
"Less what?" he asked, really putting me on the spot. "Whatever it is, don't. Because it made me scared. Saying 'think' means you don't know whether you do or not and I wouldn't want to be heartbroken incase you don't." he said to me.
I immediately let out the breath I was holding.
Well that took a turn.
"So- you feel the same?" I ask.
"No shit, you idiot. You have no idea how happy I am right now." he says to me with the biggest smile I've ever seen from him.
We just stared into eachother's eyes as our faces got closer and closer. Once our faces are barely an inch from one another, I spoke up in an almost whispering voice "are you sure this is right? Isn't it risky, for our careers, I mean?"
"Nah, they should be greatful." was all that Yeosang said before grabbing my neck with one hand and smashing his lips into mine.
I slowly brang my arms around his neck as our lips moved steadily in sync.
I don't think I've ever felt anything better up until this point in time.
I think I love him.
