"You want to watch something on TV?"
"Yeah sure, you choose though I'm terrible at deciding" She said sitting down next to me. As we sat there next to each other I thought about it. I really like this girl, don't I?"
It's our third day in Ireland and I'm finally meeting all of the family today. We decided that going out for some lunch would be best as it can get a bit crowded in the house. Katie and I had looked at cafes/restaurants yesterday as she knows how picky I can be. We eventually found this cute little restaurant which was only a five minute drive from Katie's family home.
Surprisingly I was the last one ready today, I was wearing a peach mini skirt and a red turtleneck jumper with my long nike socks and classic black high top converse.
Last night I had put my heatless curling rod in my hair so that didn't take me long, I just did a simple makeup look not wanting to take ages.
As I walked down the stairs I could see Katie, Lauryn and their parents laughing at something Katie said. Sometimes I wish I had a family like that, one that I could laugh and joke with, but I guess I have that at Arsenal.
I shook all the thoughts out of my head and walked into the living room.
"I'm ready when you are" I said going to sit down next to Katie
"Well the bookings only for half one and its ten past now so we'll set off in five"
"Okie dokie"
It was now 1:15PM and we were making our way to the restaurant. I was walking a bit behind the other four. I already feel so out of place not knowing everybody properly, my anxiety getting the best of me. I see someone vaguely fall into step next to me, turning my head. I see it's Katie, I give her a small smile then turn my head back to the floor. I know Katie can sense something is wrong with me.
"You guys go ahead, her laces have come undone" Katie says to the three infront as she stops me with her arm. I looked at her confused and then at my laces, which were perfectly tied together.
"Katie, my laces are perfectly fine"
"What's wrong?" She asks
"Nothing I'm fine"
"I know there's something wrong Ro, you can tell me I wont be mad or anything"
"It's just-" I sigh knowing im going to have to tell her the truth "I-I just feel so out of place, not knowing everyone properly, and then my anxiety is just getting to me I think"
"Oh Ro," Katie brought me in for a hug ",you could've told me how you were feeling. I promise I'll stay by your side the whole time"
"Ok" We just stay stood there for a minute or two until Katie speaks again
"You ready now"
"Yeah" I say as well pull out of the hug and set off towards the restaurant again. When we got there, I let Katie go in first as her mum had texted her where they were sitting. Katie walked ahead leading the way weaving through tables until we got to a function room, which they had hired out.
It was a good afternoon. I've now met all of the McCabe's. I think we had stayed a few hours but I didn't really notice the time. When we got back I decided to change into something comfy as did the rest of them and Katie had suggested we watch a few films and maybe order some food later. We all agreed and met in the living room. Katie had brought down all of her blankets and duvets as had Lauryn and their mum and dad. As Katie's mum and dad settled down on one sofa Katie and Lauryn sat on the ends of the other sofa obviously wanting me to sit in the middle. Katie being selfish told me that I wasn't allowed to share her duvet with her because apparently I 'put my cold feet up her jumper'.
I mean it was only the one time but still, it's very selfish of her.
"You can share with me if you want?" Lauryn said as the rest were picking out a film for us to watch.
"Yes please" I said moving closer to her as she lifted the cover for me to get under with her. As Katie had chosen to watch Murder Mystery then she said we had to watch the second one as well.
About half an hour into the film, I felt an arm reach over my shoulder and pull me into them. It was Lauryn, I just let her and pulled the duvet closer up to my chin as I had started to get cold. I think Lauryn noticed this as she subtly started to rub her hand up and down the top of my arm.
As the first film came to an end Katie had given Lauryn and I her phone to choose where we were going to eat, we picked on a local pizza place that Lauryn said was good, i chose a plain margarita pizza which she teased me about for a bit before choosing a hawaiian pizza then we both decided we wanted a garlic bread to share then passing Katie's phone back to her as she finished the order taking her mum and dads orders.
The pizza finally came in the middle of the second film. Lauryn and I didn't move from our position on the sofa, balancing our pizza boxes on top of our legs, which had been curled up on the ottoman which we had pulled up right next to the sofa.
Throughout the night we had all picked out a film to watch and Katie's mum and dad had eventually gone up to bed so it was now just Katie, Lauryn, and I. The later we got into the night, the less I cared about what film we were watching. Halfway through watching Shark Tale, I could feel my eyes getting heavy.
Lauryn's POV
As the end credits of Shark Tale rolled onto the TV both me and Katie had decided it was really late and that we should get some rest. Katie got up off her side of the sofa and went to turn the light on, I quickly realised that Rosie had fallen asleep on my shoulder, with her legs tangled into mine. She looks so adorable, snuggled under the blanket.
"Katie" I whisper-shouted to get her attention
"Yeah" she whispered back
"Don't turn the light on Rosie's fallen asleep"
"Ok, I'll go and take my blankets up and I'll come back down and get her"
"No, no it's alright, I'll just stay here. She looks comfy there anyway."
"Ok, if you're sure, she can sleep for a long time, you'll probably get a dead arm"
"Eh, it'll be fine"
"Ok then" Katie says to me picking up her duvet and blankets she had brought down ",I'll bring down her blanket incase she gets cold, or starts looking for it"
"Ok" I whisper slightly moving so I'm led slightly facing Rosie, her head now fallen into the crook of my neck
A few minutes after Katie went upstairs, I heard her trying to quietly run back down the stairs, as she came through the door with the most adorable shark blanket ever. Now I understand why all of Rosie's choices were shark films, they must be her favourite animal, I'll remember that.
"Right I'm going to bed now are you sure you'll be ok with her here"
"Yes, I'll be fine you go to bed"
"Ok just message me if you change your mind"
"I will now go get some sleep"
"Ok, ok I will night" She says backing into the hallway quietly closing the door. Soon enough I was fast asleep, my cheek resting on the top of Rosie's head.
Rosie's POV
As I started to wake up I could hear some faint chatter in the background, however it was quiet probably because I was asleep. I felt I was snuggled into someone and I assumed it was Katie so I just nuzzled my head further into her neck.
"Morning sleepyhead, you gonna get up now?" I hear Katie's voice however it isn't coming from the person I was sleeping on, my head shoots up from its place to see Lauryn
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry, you should've woken me up" I said my cheeks going redder as i stumbled over my words
"No, it's ok you looked comfy and I didn't want to move you."
"Oh ok" I say slightly embarrassed, when i looked around the room to my relief all i saw was Katie sat on the other sofa, grinning at our exchange "I'm gonna go and get dressed, and call Viv she said I could call her today"
"Ok, we will see you soon" Katie said, still a cheesy grin on her face.
I quickly got up and ran up the stairs embarrassed for falling asleep on her. When I got into Katie's room I took a deep breath to calm down and then walked over to my suitcase and chose an outfit. I decided on a pair of Beth's shorts that I had stolen and Leah's Arsenal hoodie. Shoving my hair up into a ponytail after brushing it, I didn't bother with makeup as I didnt think we were going anywhere today. It's like she knew, as soon as I sat on the bed my phone rang, it was Viv.
*phone call*
V: Hey, Roro, how's it going
R: Yeah its going good, how's my baby
V: Shes good, we took her to Amanda's house yesterday and her and Bella got on like a house on fire, they just played together all afternoon
R: Awww, that's good, you better send me pictures of her
V: I will, so are you enjoying it so far
R: Yeah, it's been good, I've met the whole McCabe family
V: That's good, you need to come and meet my family soon, they are dying to meet you
R: Yeah we can after the Euro's and Beth can come with us
V: Yeah. Well I shall let you go now, ok Ro
R: Yeah ok, I love you I'll see you soon
V: I love you too
*call ended*
It's now around dinner time, me, Katie, Lauryn and their mum and dad were sitting around the table eating our dinner, when my phone starts to ring. At first I ignored it as it's probably just a spam call. However when it rings for a second time I look at it.
My phone shows the caller ID as 'Big boss Sarina', my eyes go wide. Why is she calling me?
"Er- I-I've got to go and answer this" I say standing up and walking out of the room before anyone could say anything.
*phone call*
S: Hello, Rosie
R: Hi, Sarina
S: I was just calling to see if you wanted to come to the pre-euros camp with the girls
R: Oh my god, really
S: Yes really
R: Ok then, I'll be there
S: Great your training kit and everything will be at the house in a few days
R: Thank you, so much
S: Your very welcome Rosie, I'll see you soon bye
*call ends*
Oh. My. God. I've just been asked to go to the England pre-euros camp. My face breaks out into a massive smile, grinning ear to ear as I walk back into the kitchen. As I walk through the door, all of them turn to look at me.
"You alright Ro, what was that about?"
"It was Sarina, she wants me to go to the pre-euros camp"
"Oh, Ro," Katie says, standing up and hugging me. After Katie had finished with her hug I got a hug from the rest of the family, well the ones that were in the living room anyway. We decided that the five of us would go out tonight for food and a few drinks.
I decided to message the Arsenal group chat we have. Almost immediately I had messages from everyone telling me how proud they are of me, and then Beth telling me that she's going to beat me at table tennis.
