Abi doesn't answer and tears appear.

Meanwhile, Abi is nauseated due to the smells coming from the train. Viji gives her a bag to vomit and helps her dispose of it.

They both talk about their education and other things but not about their families. They sleep for few hours and wake up early and have tea and some biscuits. Abi is again vomiting and Viji helps her.

The two of them settle into the apartment and both of them explore the area. They like that neighbourhood and Abi starts searching for a small apartment. On the third day, they order food online and sleep. That night, Abi starts having severe bouts of vomiting and diarrhea. She has high fever is calling for Vetri in her sleep. Suddenly Abi complains of stomach cramps. Its around 10 in the night and Viji is terrified. She walks out of the apartment to look for security and when she reaches the lift, it opens and a tall well dressed man who is looking tired walks out. Viji collides with him when she tries to enter the lift. He holds her from falling.
Vi: Sorrynga! Avasarathula mothitten...
Man: Neenga Tamizha? Puthusa irukkeenga! Enga pathattama poreenga? Ethavathu help venuma?
Vi: Illai oru emergency! Security thedaren.

Viji hesitates. She needs help but not sure if she can trust him. Tarun understands and shows his IDs.

Then the lift opens again and an aged couple come out.
MAC1: Hello Tarun! (in Telugu) No night duty? So can we go for a walk in the morning?
Tar: (in Telugu too) Sorry! I have a surgery in the morning. But I have to go now. (to Viji) Vanga! Enna emergency?sollunga! Gopalgaru! 5 floor randi!

They go in and Tarun asks a few questions while checking on Abi. He gets an ORS packet from his bag and asks Viji to dissolve it in bottled water and feed Abi slowly. Meanwhile Tarun arranges an ambulance and takes her to his hospital. He starts her on iv fluids. Abi keeps complaining of stomach cramps and calling Vetri. A nurse checks and says that Abi is spotting.
Vi: Doctor. Bayamma irukku. Appo lenthu vayatha valikkuthunnu solra. Avalukkum kuzhanthaikkum onnum illaiye? Kappathidunga Doctor.

The gynecologist comes and gets an ultrasound scan of the fetus. Tarun tells her that it could be food poisoning as Abi had seafood for dinner. The gynecologist shows the scan and the heartbeat of the fetus.
Tar: Viji! Anga parunga! Kozhanthai heartbeat nalla irukku. Kavalaipadatheenga! Ivungalukku konjam cramp irukku. But food poisoning than pola. Ingaya admit pannitten. Through the night, Abi's fever does not come down and she is thrashing in fever calling for Vetri and Amma and Periamma. Viji hears her telling "Enda ippadi pannina?"and sometimes "Vetri! Examukku padi!". Once in a while she says "Periamma! Vayatha valikkuthu! Ethavathu kashayam kodunga! Collegekku poganum!". Viji is terrified and the nurse Jothi calms her. She asks Viji to take rest for a few hours and she will take care.
Around 6 in the morning, Tarun comes there and he checks on Abi. He sees that her fever is not down and she was asleep due to exhaustion.
Vi: Doctor! Avalukku onnum agathe? Rendu naal munnadi than paathukittom. Puthu oorla orutharukku oruthar thunaiya iruppomnu ninaichom! Meen pidikkumnu sonna! He comes back with the gynecologist in 15 min and she does another scan and confirms the heartbeat of the fetus. She starts Abi on IV antibiotics. She gives further instructions to the nurse.
Gyne: Madam! Dont worry! I have given medicines and let's hope for the best.
Vi: Thank you doctor. Tarun! Amma kuzhanthi rendume pozhaichuduvanga illai?

Viji does as he says and comes back in an hour. She sees Abi sleeping and goes to the temple, prays and eats breakfast in the canteen and comes with a coffee.
Vi: Jothi madam! Abi eppadi irukka?
Jo: Juram ippo than vida arambichirukku. Nalla thoongaranga! Neenga intha bedla rest edunga!
Viji catches some sleep. Abi wakes up after a couple of hours and looks confused. She sees Viji and remembers where she is. She presses the bell for the nurse.
A:(feebly) Akka! Akka!
Viji wakes up.
Vi: Abi! Appada! Kan muzhichiye! Eppadi irukku Abi? Vayatha valikkutha? Enna pannuthu? Nurse? Nurse?

A: (keeping a hand on her stomach) Akka! Paappa! Paappavukku onnum agaliye? Sollungakka?
Vi: Nathala scanla kooda paappa nalla thaan irukku! Nee onnum pathatta padathe. Rathiri konjam spotting irunthathu. But kathalai varaikkum onnum prachinai illai.
Nurse comes in and Abi wants to go to the bathroom. Abi confirms no spotting and the nurse tells her to not get up otherwise and take rest. After the gynecologist visit and instructions, Abi is allowed to leave the hospital once she takes some food. Tarun comes.
Tar: Ezhunthutteengala? Eppadi irukkeenga? Viji patharittanga!
A: Thank you doctor. En kuzhanthaiyai kapathinathukku romba thanks.
Tar: Ithula enna irukkunga? Oru doctora naan seyyara velaiyai than senjen. Sari! Naan innum 2-3 hours la kilambiduven. En koodava vanthurunga!

Tarun takes them back and asks some general questions. Abi says that she is looking for an apartment and is planning to study for UPSC exams. Tarun offers to check in the same apartment complex and recommend them to the secretary of the owner's association.
Abi finds an apartment in that complex in an adjacent block of Tarun's. Without any big discussion, both Viji and Abi make their own joint venture. Viji provides the care for Abi and Abi provides the purpose for Viji. They both learn the ropes of starting afresh with new people in a new city. Tarun becomes their de facto brother, who took particular care of Abi's health, as she kept pushing herself preparing for the exams.
As months pass by, Abi's pregnancy progresses with minimal issues but she tends to go into bouts of moodiness. Tarun and Viji try to keep her balanced as they realise that it's not possible to make Abi cheerful. The best is a smile they can tease out of her. Though, the only time Abi is overwhelmed and more joyful is when she gets her ultrasound scans. It's her private time with her beloved child and the bridge to her past and future. She still cries once in a while during the privacy of nights but she keeps herself busy with her studies.
A week before the due date, Abi's regular contractions started around noon time though she had been timing it for sometime. As per the instructions, Abi and Viji reach the hospital with their essentials. As it is her first child, her labour is expected to be longer.
Almost six hours in the hospital, and Abi's was still in first stage of labour. Even though she knew for months now that Vetri wont be with her, she couldnt help longing for him, holding his strong hands and leaning on his strong body and feeling the rough beard on her cheeks. A part of her was also feeling bad that she is still longing for him. Seeing her tears Viji was worried.
Vi: Abi! Azhathe! Romba valikkutha? Naan vena marunthu kodukka sollattuma?
Abi shakes her head and but her tears do not stop.
Vi: ethavathu venuma? Ungammatta pesariya? Avungalai vara sollirukkalam illai!

A big contraction comes through and Abi cries for Vetri!

A: Ahh! (after the pain subsides, she closes and leans on the head board).

She hit the second stage without much complications after midnight and it was prolonged. She was getting tired and the doctors made her take walks. Then, after some time, things progress smoothly and at 6 am in the morning, she gives birth to a bonny long limbed baby girl. Abi hears someone calling the time of birth as 6 am on Sunday and she decides to call her daughter Sudarvizhi.The nurse puts the beautiful baby girl on Abi's chest and at that moment the baby gives a new life to Abinaya, mother of Sudarvizhi. Later, when she is asked to give the details for the child's file and vaccination details, she gives all their names, father's, mother's and the child's. She takes a photo of Sudarvizhi and sends it to her mother and impulsively, sends the photo as an email to Vetri's last used email address. Then, she realises what she does and blocks his email.
Thus Sudarvizhi gave birth to her mother Abinaya just like the Sun brings the hope of a new day. She made the joint venture of Abinaya and Vijaya to a family of a mother and a periamma and their beloved child. Just like Abi had two mothers growing up, Sudarvizhi too has her Abi and Vijimma.
When Sudar is one month old, Abi wrote her prelims for UPSC and cleared the Main exams when Sudar was around 4 months old. Then, she got selected for her interview and went with Sudar and Viji for her interview when Sudar was around 8 months old. Abi started her training in Mussouri. The first day of her training, Abi couldnt help but remember that this is what Vetri wanted to do. This is what he would have been, if he did not help a girl from bullies. The time apart and the time with Sudar has helped Abi come to terms with her life.
She knew that it's not possible to have Sudar with her in the campus accommodation. So she has Viji stay in Mussori and visits her as many evenings and weekends as she could and on the weekends. She is one of the trainees who is friendly with others but is always running back to her child whenever she can. The first six months of training are the toughest on Abi as she has to go without seeing Sudar for almost 21 days once. But then, the family of Abi, Sudar and Viji survive this tough time. The day Abi completes the Phase 1 training, she is the happiest as she could be with Sudar without leaving her.
When Abi finishes all the other training and at the end of three years and three months after she left Kanchipuram Abi gets her first posting as Deputy Collector in Andhra Pradesh. At that time, Sudar is a smart, healthy and happy child of 2 years and 8 months and holds together the lives of her Amma and Periamma in her tiny little hands.
On a rainy day, some seven years afer she left Kanchipuram, when Sudar is six and a half years old, Abi receives her transfer order to Kanchipuram. Abi, Sudar and Viji come to Kanchipuram. Each one in that car are of different moods. Abi is apprehensive, Sudar, her usual happy inquisitive self and Viji, both a little worried and curious.
