Colby's POV
"Thank fuck." I said as we finally got back on the road to Seattle.
It has been a rough couple of days being trapped in the middle of nowhere while the love of my life was putting her life at risk for no reason.
"Have you gotten in contact with Jeremy?" Sam asked as he sped down the road.
"Yeah, we're gonna go straight to his place. He found the warehouse so we'll go tonight." I said and texted Jeremy.
We were only five hours away at this point but Sam was speeding to get there. It was already bad enough that we were delayed for so long.
After driving for a while, I decided to give Nate a call so I could check on the kids.
"Hey, man. I see you got some service." Nate said as I nodded.
"Yep. Are the kids doing okay?" I asked and scrubbed my face with my hands. "Yeah, they're worried about you and Julia." He said as I sighed.
"I know. I wish I could say anything that would reassure them but I have a horrible feeling that it won't end well." I said and closed my eyes.
"You guys are going to figure this out, Colby." Nate said as I nodded. "We're gonna try." I said as Nate chuckled.
"I have someone here that wants to talk to you." Nate said as I nodded.
"Put her on." I said, knowing exactly who he was talking about.
"Colby?" Juniper asked quietly as I grinned. "Hey, kid." I said with a sigh. "When are you and sissy coming back?" She asked with a sad tone.
"I'm not sure. Hopefully soon." I said, keeping my tone level. "Is sissy okay?" She asked causing me to frown.
"She's gonna be okay." I said, not knowing if I fully meant that.
I knew I would do everything in my power to keep her safe but I wasn't sure what to expect.
"I want you guys to come back." Juniper whimpered. "I know, love. I wish we could come back right now but we still have stuff to do here." I said and looked over at Sam.
"We'll be back as soon as possible." I said as Sam looked over at me with a reassuring smile.
"Then when we come back we can take you guys out somewhere fun." I said causing her to gasp slightly.
"We'll be able to leave?" She asked with a hopeful expression. "Yes, ma'am." I said as she giggled. "Okay! I can't wait!" She squealed with enthusiasm.
"Be good for Nate and your brothers and sister. Okay?" I asked and looked out the window again. "Okay! Love you!" She said causing my heart to warm.
"I love you, too." I said then hung up. "We gotta get Julia home." I mumbled as Sam nodded. "We will." He said and focused on the road.
I appreciated his confidence considering the shitty situation we were getting into. He seemed to truly believe that we were going to be able to pull this off.
We drove for a couple hours before we got to Seattle. There was no time to waste so made our way to the old secret society base.
It felt weird to be back here and it was moderately illegal for me to be here since I promised the governor I wouldn't be back if we cut ties.
What he didn't know wouldn't hurt him.
"Colby." Jeremy said as he opened the door. "Hey, man. As much as I'd love to catch up let's walk and talk." I said as he nodded.
"Have you really not seen Julia?" I asked as we walked. There was a hesitation coming from him that made me automatically think whatever he was going to say was going to be a lie.
"God, she's gonna kill me." He mumbled then looked over at me. "She came directly to me. I told her this was all a bad idea but she didn't listen." Jeremy said nervously.
"You lied to me?" I asked, trying to keep my anger at bay. "I had to, Colby. I was afraid if I told you what was going on that she would do something stupid." He explained and led the way to his car.
"God damnit. Where is she now?" I asked and got in the car. "At her hotel." Jeremy said as I nodded.
"Which one?" I asked and started the car. "I don't know. She wouldn't tell me." He said as I rolled my eyes.
"Jesus Christ. Okay, where's the warehouse?" I asked and looked over at Jeremy. "Go that way." He said then pointed to where I needed to go.
I was honestly annoyed that Jeremy didn't tell me he's been helping Julia but I appreciated that he didn't tell me in an attempt for Julia to keep working with him.
"Has there been any new details?" Sam asked from the back seat. "No. We've just been scoping the place. "Have you gotten in contact with Max?" I asked as Jeremy nodded slowly. "Yeah, you could say that." He said as I narrowed my eyes.
"Did Julia go with you?" I asked as he nodded. "Fuck, so now everyone knows she's here." I groaned. "I wouldn't worry about that." Jeremy hummed then pointed to where I needed to go.
"Why do you say that? The dude can't keep his damn mouth shut about anything." I said with frustration. "She cut his tongue out." Jeremy said as my eyes went wide. "She what?" I asked and looked over.
"Cut it out like it was nothing." He said as I chuckled. I knew Julia was a strong and determined person but I never thought I would hear of her cutting out someones fucking tongue.
I'd be lying if I said it wasn't hot as fuck.
"There." Jeremy said and pointed to one of the unsuspecting buildings. "Julia is in there." Sam said as my stomach dropped.
"Why do you say that?" I asked and parked the car. "That's our car." Sam said and pointed to the SUV parked across from us.
"Fuck." I grumbled then got out of the car. "Where are you going?" Sam asked as I shook my head.
"Stay here. I'm gonna see if she's in there." I said then walked over to the car. "Jules." I said and walked over to window, seeing nobody in the car.
On the center console there was a note. I opened the car door and grabbed it, reading the words on the paper carefully.
Colby,
I promise I never did this to hurt you. All I wanted in life was a bit of normalcy and you gave me that. I made this mistake though and I need to fix it. If anything happens to me just know that I love you more than anything. Please take care of the kids for me and the baby if she survives.

"God damnit!" I hissed then grabbed my phone. Since she has been talking to Nate on this burner phone I was able to get her number. I tried calling her a couple of times in the past couple days but she didn't ever answer.
This time was different.
"What?" Julia answered, her voice hardly even a whisper. There was a hint of fear in her tone but it was masked by anger.
"Julia, where are you?" I asked with an angry tone. There was a silence on the other line for a second. I only knew she didn't hang up because there was a hushed whimper that escaped her lips.
"Julia." I said after a moment. "I need to hang up." She said as I sighed. I knew she was inside but I needed her to tell me exactly where she was.
"Julia, where are you baby?" I asked, trying to be more gentle with her. She would never tell me if she was afraid of me being mad.
"I'm inside the warehouse. My mom is involved." She whispered withe fear as my heart clenched. I fucking knew she wouldn't stay away for long, but I didn't think she would stoop to this level.
"God damnit, Jules." I said with a sigh. "You can't come." She whimpered as I shook my head. "I'm already here. Jeremy told me everything." I said and looked back at the car Jeremy and Sam were in.
"I can handle this myself." She said angrily, causing my stomach to ache. After hearing what she did to Max I believed she could hold her own for a little while but I wasn't going to let her think she could handle this while she was carrying our daughter.
"No, you can't. You can't do this by yourself but you especially can't do it when you're pregnant." I snapped harshly.
"Fuck you, Colby. Don't come in here." She said louder than she was speaking before. I was annoyed that she wasn't going to give in and let me help her out. I don't know why she was being so defensive about it but I didn't appreciate it.
"Really, Julia? We're gonna do this right now. Get out of there!" I yelled, talking to her like I did when we first brought her to LA.
I needed her to understand that what she was doing was stupid and that she wasn't going to come off as weak for having me help her.
"There are guards at every door, Colby. You can't get in anyways. I'm gonna prove that I can do this. If you don't believe me then you don't deserve to be in my life." She said as my heart cracked.
Was she really willing to throw everything away to prove a point?
"Don't do that, Juliana. You're being stupid right now." I said harshly, trying to get it through her thick skull that no matter how strategic she was, these people were going to outsmart her.
It wasn't that she wasn't strong. It was that she was inexperienced.
"Bye, Colby." She whispered as my breath go caught in my throat. It felt like a final goodbye before she went through with her death wish.
I expected the phone to cut out after those two words but before it could, Julia shrieked causing my heart to stop.
"Jules?" I asked frantically as I made my way back to our car. I couldn't hear anything on the other line besides some mumbles, meaning she didn't have the phone with her anymore.
"Fuck." I said then hung up and opened the door. "What's happening?" Sam asked with a serious tone.
"We have to go in. We don't have much time." I said then closed the door and turned towards the building that would seal our fate.
