"Meredith, are you ever going to unpack? You can't just stay in bed all day texting your boyfriend or whatever. Go out and do something, like see that boy who lives next door. His mother and I are pretty good friends now." My mom said pulling open my curtains.

"He's nineteen and still lives with his mother? I'm good." I said pulling the blankets over my head.

"Alright that's it. I've had it up to here with your attitude Meredith. I know you aren't exactly happy and I realize that, but maybe if you tried helping yourself you wouldn't be like this every single day." She yelled pulling the blankets away from me.

She does have a point there, I haven't made any effort in the past two weeks to help myself. And the whole point of coming out here was to help myself.

"Fine, I'll go see said boy who lives next door." I mumbled.

"Good, I'll let them know. Go over around one okay? Ryan and I will be at the university picking up his textbooks for the semester. So we'll be gone all afternoon. And if I find out you stayed in bed all day I swear you'll pay." Jesus she's so strict.

"Yeah, yeah. I'll be there." I rolled my eyes.

"Good. And I hear he has a twin sister, make friends with both of them. Okay?" She said cheerfully. I nodded, she kissed my forehead before leaving the room.

I leaned over to grab my phone. I had one message.

Addie: call me pleaseeeeeeee. i know you're talking to jack, and i would like to have a chat with you. i misssss you.

I smiled before calling her.

"Hey bitchhhh." She answered.

"Hi Addie, what's up?" I laughed.

"Nothing, I just wanted to talk to you. Because I haven't in about a month. So how was Christmas for you? Ours was okay, it was just missing you."

"It was alright I guess, I wasn't expecting much. But I got a few cd's, a framed and signed PVRIS poster from Ryan and some clothes." I shrugged.

"So how many signed posters is that? Four? Lucky duckling."

"Yeah, they're honestly my children."

"Coolio, so how are you liking Baltimore?"

"If I'm honest, I kinda hate it. I made a dumb mistake of coming here and should've stayed with you guys."

"Yeah, but Jack said you're not allowed to come back until June which sucks, but maybe the four of us could road trip it over there."

"You should though, it could be fun. But just wait a few months or else my mom will think it was all my idea sending you guys here to pick me up. So wait until like May or something."

"Of course, I'll try and sort that all out. But I gotta get to work, so text me later and we can Facetime or something. Cam and Shawn wanna talk to you as well."

"Okay, see you then." I smiled before hanging up. I threw my phone to the end of m bed and just laid down and stared at the ceiling.

Meredith, you need to get up and unpack. You live here now, get over yourself and get off your sorry ass.

Oh shut up brain.

But I took my subconscious advice and got up and started opening up boxes. I didn't have too much stuff, most of them were pictures of me and friends and shit like that. The first box I opened had all my other framed posters, I had the box labeled fragile about ten times. I looked around deciding where to hang them. I decided on the wall opposite the door, so you can see them as soon as you walk in.

-

Once I finally unpacked the last box, I checked the time and it was twelve forty five. Only fifteen minutes until I have to meet said neighbor boy and his twin sister.

I looked down only to realize I was still in my pajama's. I chuckled to myself before going and getting dressed. I picked out black skinny jeans of course, and jack's hoodie because it smells like him and dayum it smells good.

I grabbed my phone and went into the living room. Mom and Ryan had unpacked quite a lot before they left. I went to the door and slipped on my black doc martens and went outside, sighing before walking across the lawn the neighbor's house. It's a pretty nice house if you ask me. As I walked up to the door I felt myself getting kinda nervous because sometimes my first impressions on people aren't always the best.

"Here goes nothing." I sighed before knocking on the door. A woman around my mom's age opened the door.

"Hi, Meredith right?" She smiled as she let me inside. I nodded. "I'm Lydia by the way. You can sit here while I go get Kacey and Alex." She gestured to the chair next to the kitchen island. It reminded me of Addie and I's apartment.

A couple minutes later, a set of twins emerged from down the hallway. Looking almost as bored as I was. The girl was very pretty, I was gonna have to admit. And the guy, hot damn. He aint no Jack Gilinksy but he's alright.

"Introduce yourselves will you?" Lydia said pushing them towards me.

"Er, Hi. I'm Kacey." The girl introduced herself.

"And I'm Alex." The guy said.

"I'm Meredith, nice to meet you guys." I smiled.

So far so good.

"Well, I'll be back later. So you guys do whatever you teens do. Have fun." Lydia smiled before grabbing her purse and going outside.

"You play basketball?" Alex asked looking at my sweater.

"Oh, um no. This is my boyfriend's, he played in high school." I smiled.

"Boyfriend? Dang." He muttered to himself. Kacey slapped him behind the head. I had a little chuckle.

"Alex, really? You just met the girl, chill." She scowled at him before turning back to me. "Sorry about him. He broke up with his girlfriend a few weeks ago, so he's just jumping on anything he can find." She laughed. I like her already, but she'd never replace Addie. "And this is what he said to her. I'm sorry but we're breaking up. And then she said, your loss. But then he goes, it's not like I'm losing my keys because that would suck, it's more like getting rid of a disease. It's a good thing."

"Oh my god." I said trying to hold in my laughter.

"Yeah, he's quite the lady's man as you can tell." She said sarcastically. "But he's probably not gonna do much talking, so can we go to your house? Because I'm pretty sure it'll be far more interesting."

"Sure." I smiled and we went outside and back to my house. We went in my room and she started looking around at all my pictures and I sat on the bed.

Before I left I had a bunch of pictures printed and I covered an entire wall with them. They were all of Me, Addie, Shawn, Cam and Jack. They ranged from selfies to candid's and shit.

"Is this you and your boyfriend? Because if so you guys are goals time one thousand." She said looking at a picture of Jack and I. It was taken before we went to crash my dad's wedding. Both of us wearing sunglasses and dressed like a bride and groom.

"If you want, you can meet him and all my other friends later. We're supposed to facetime, and I'm sure they won't mind seeing you too." I smiled.

-

New Message from Addie Prescott:

addie: get your ass on facetime.

I laughed at her message before grabbing my laptop and opening facetime and calling her. I placed the laptop on my dresser and Kacey and I were sitting on my bed.

The call started and all we could see was Addie yelling at the boys.

"Um, hi." I laughed, she stopped yelling and looked at the screen realizing I was there.

"Meredith!" Cam and Shawn yelled, I waved. "Who's your friend there Mer?" Cam laughed because it rhymed. He did that the day we met too.

"This is Kacey, she lives next door." I introduced her and she said hi.

"Okay. My turn. She's my girlfriend after all." Jack said pushing the two out of the way.

"Heyyyy." They both whined.

Quite the dysfunctional group of friends I have.

-

"Wow, you're so close to all your friends. I wish I had a group of friends like that." Kacey sighed as I closed my laptop.

"It wasn't always like that, believe me." I chuckled.

"I'm guessing it's a long story and maybe wait another day to hear it?" She asked getting up, I looked at the time and it was a little bit after nine. "But I'll get going now, but do you want to go to the mall or something tomorrow? The rest of my family is busy and I have nothing to do."

"Sure, I'll give you my number and you can text me in the morning." I said and she handed me her phone and I put my number in it.

"Thanks." She smiled before leaving my room, and then the house.

I laid back on the bed smiling to myself.

For the first time in over a month, I had a genuinely good day.
