"Hello?" A familiar voice sounded after a couple rings. "Will?" I asked with confusion as my heart sank slightly.
"Julia?" He asked with the same level of confusion and shock.
"Is Colby working with you?" I asked, not wanting to know the answer. "Does he know you're talking to me?" He asked as I sighed and leaned back.
"No and he won't know because you're not going to tell him. Clearly he's working with you and that's how I got this number." I said and laid my hand over my belly.
"I don't have much time so I need you to explain fast what is going on." I explained. "Julia I-" Will started as I rolled my eyes.
"You owe me." I interrupted causing him to sigh. "I think it would be better to talk in person. Can you make that happen?" He asked as I shook my head.
"No, I can't. Just please hurry up and tell me what's going on." I said and looked up at the door, hoping Colby wouldn't be here too fast.
"While you were on your jobs for Pops, you killed someone very important to someone who worked closely with your father." Will explained as I listened intently.
"Before Colby and his gang there was a thing called the original four. Your dad, Pops, and two others." He explained as my heart sank.
"To get to the point...the other two of the four are after you." He said as my blood ran cold. "Colby's gonna get killed." I said as he breathed a laugh.
"They won't touch him. That's the sticky part about this situation. Snake is sly, hence his name. He won't go anywhere near Colby, he'll only go after you." Will said as I nodded.
"Good. Where can I find him?" I asked and kept my eyes on the door.
"You can't go after him, Julia. You won't be able to win this battle." Will said as I clenched my jaw. "Where can I find them?" I seethed.
Before he could answer me though, the doorknob started to move.
"I gotta go." I said then hung up the phone quickly as Colby came into the room.
"That was short." I said quietly as he nodded and walked towards me. "I'm letting them let off some steam in the gym." He said and closed the door.
"Did you apologize?" I asked and crossed my arms. "Of course I did. I don't mean to be such a douche but I wish you could understand the stress I'm under." He said as I nodded.
I did understand now.
Colby didn't want anything to happen to me or the baby, but he knew there was nothing he could do to save us.
I made the mistake and I had to fix it.
"Just...try to talk to me. Don't leave me out of how you're feeling, we're supposed to be a team." I said as he came over to me.
"I know. I just get so in the zone that it brings me back to before you were even in my life." He said with a sigh.
"I'm sorry." He said as I nodded. "I forgive you." I said, knowing if he knew what I was up to he would be angry.
I knew I was being shady and hypocritical but Colby was working with Will after everything that happened last year.
He didn't tell me that, so I didn't need tell him that I would be working with him, too.
"We should get you guys back in your room. I'm sorry it's hard to be trapped in that room all day." He said as I nodded.
"Unfortunately I'm used to it. I feel worse for the kids. Also I'm worried about their education." I said as he nodded and took my hands so I could stand up.
"We'll get it all figured out. I just need you to be patient with me." He said and led the way to go get the kids.
"Yeah, I'm trying Colby. We have a little bit of a ticking time bomb on our hands though." I said then gestured to my belly.
I was happy to be pregnant and obviously was excited to meet our baby but it was possibly the worst timing ever to be having a baby.
"Which reminds me. Is Nate around?" I asked as he narrowed his eyes and looked at me.
"Why do you need to see Nate?" He asked with suspicion. "I have a pregnancy question and he might know the answer, get off my dick." I said as he chuckled.
"Yeah, he's around. Probably in his office." Colby explained as I nodded.
"Bring the kids to the room, I'll join you in a minute." I said then kissed his cheek and made my way to Nate's office.
When I got there I knocked on the door causing Nate to open the door and look at me with confusion.
"Jules?" He asked and stepped to the side so I could enter the room. "Hey. I have a question." I said as he nodded. "Sure, what's up?" He asked and sat on his desk looking at me.
"Can you make a bullet proof and knife proof vest that will cover my belly?" I asked as his brow scrunched.
"Why would you need that? You're under lockdown." He said as I nodded.
"I know. I just want to be safe rather than sorry. If anyone gets in here, I need to protect this baby." I explained as he nodded.
"Understandable. Yeah, I can absolutely get that working, but it'll be a couple days." He said as I nodded.
"That's fine...I just...I need you to promise me something." I said as his face shifted.
"What is it?" He asked as I sighed and looked away. "You can't tell Colby we had this conversation." I said as he looked away. "I don't know if I can do that, Jules." He said as I shook my head.
"You have to, Nate. I don't want him thinking we don't trust him." I pleaded.
"What are you planning, Julia?" He asked with suspicion. "Nothing. I just want to keep this baby safe. It's all I want." I said with a sigh.
I felt bad for lying to everyone but I was being truthful when I said that I needed to protect my baby.
This was just going to have to be the coverup for getting that protection I knew I would need eventually.
"I'll have it made as soon as possible. Anything else you need?" He asked as I shook my head.
"No, thanks for everything. I really appreciate you, Nate." I said as he nodded. "Just don't do anything stupid, Jules." He said as I shook my head.
"I won't." I said then left the room.
I was sick of people telling me that. Even if I was to leave and storm the enemies right this second it wouldn't be 'stupid'.
Protecting the people I loved with all my heart would never be stupid.
It was maybe reckless but it wasn't stupid.
When I got back to the kids' and my room the four of them were sitting on Carter's bed while Colby stood in front of them.
"Are you yelling at them?" I asked as he chuckled. "No, we were placing bets on what you would want for dinner." He said as I nodded.
"Hit me with the guesses." I said and went to sit on my bed. "Chinese food, duh." Jenna said as I shook my head.
"Spaghetti." Little Sam said as I hummed. "No." I said and put my hand on my belly as the baby kicked.
"Dessert!" Juniper said as I laughed. "No but that's kinda fun." I said as Carter rubbed his chin and squinted at me.
"Chicken nuggets." He said causing me to laugh. "I mean always but not what I'm craving." I said then looked at Colby.
"Pizza. 100%" He said as I nodded. "Kinda." I said as he narrowed chuckled and sat beside me.
"Oh I gotta hear this." He said as I hummed and rubbed my belly.
"Pizza but with pepperoni, pineapple, and Buffalo boneless wings on it. Then on the side I want some of the icing they use for the cinnamon sticks so I can dip my pizza in it." I said dreamily.
"Oh my god, you're disgusting." Jenna said causing me to laugh. "I'm not disgusting! You can't tell me that doesn't sound intriguing." I said as Juniper pouted her lip out.
"Sissy, can't we just get cheese?" She asked as Colby stood up. "We'll get cheese and Julia's abomination of a pizza. I really have to get back to work though." Colby said then leaned down and kissed my head.
"Great, grumpy Colby is gonna make another appearance." Little Sam said as Colby sighed.
"I'm grumpy because being an adult is stupid and stressful." He said and slowly made his way to the door.
"Being an adult isn't the problem. Being a cool gang leader is." Carter said as Colby nodded. "That too. Be good for your sister, I'll get the pizza soon." He said with a sigh then left the room.
I knew that Colby was still stressed and he was trying to not be a dick especially after our little fight but I was so excited to be able to be stress free with him again soon.
I would do anything to take the stress off of him.
