On this particular day, Murtasim found himself in his home office, surrounded by a sea of documents, diligently sipping on his hot coffee. Meesam, his three-year-old daughter was perched on his lap, engrossed in coloring with the markers her father had provided to keep her busy. Meerab was in their room, buried in her law exam preparations, leaving father and daughter alone.

"Baba dekho, butterfly." Said meesam as she pointed to her drawing, wanting compliments from her father. Murtasim looked down to her paper and let out a sheepish smile, "wow itni pyaari butterfly hai."  He Said as he pecked his daughters cheek. It was in fact not a pyaari butterfly, it was a blob of pink, green, and yellow in the middle of the page, but there was no harm in telling a white lie to see that signature meesam grin. Meesam blushed and whispered "thank you baba." As she resumed her coloring. Murtasim placed a kiss on his daughters hair and continued with his paperwork. "Of course bacha."

As murtasim reached for his cup of coffee, he slightly missed and knocked the cup over. The hot brown liquid spilled all over his papers and he couldn't help but curse under his breath. "Ah fuck" mumbled Murtasim.

In his haste to get Meesam off his lap and clean up the mess, her marker slipped off the paper, leaving a colorful streak on the mahogany desk, ruining her drawing and her babas desk. "Fuck..."

Murtasim froze , his face drained of color.

"Meesam, apne abhi kya kaha?" He asked, his voice laced with apprehension.

Meesam was stilled focused on her drawing, trying to fix the mistake she made. The coffee spill made no difference to her as she was in a world of her own. He waited a few seconds but meesam didn't respond. He was slightly relieved, thinking that maybe he was just hearing things until his daughter let out a soft giggle and whispered "hehehe fuck", her innocence contrasting with her father's shock

Murtasim had to address this immediately. Realizing the gravity of the situation he immediately turned Meesam to face him, "meesam.... Bacha aise nahi kehte, ye bad word hai." explained murtasim, speaking slowly so the words sunk in.

"Baba apne bad word kaha?" Gasped meesam, why would her baba say something like this. And if he was allowed to say it then why wasn't she?
Murtasim closed his eyes in frustration. "Baba baray hain na tho wo keh sakte hai, aap nahi keh sakti."

"Nahiiiii meesam bhi bari hai." whined meesam, her lips forming the cutest little pout, she was a whopping three years old but her mama and baba still looked at her as a baby.

Sometimes she was just like meerab. Ziddi. She went completely after her mother in this matter

"Acha acha aap big girl ho lekin fir se ye lafz mat kehna , ache Bacche aise nahi kehte, aap baba ki good girl ho na?" Meesam eagerly nodded her head. "Aur haan....mama ke Saamne ye lafz bilkul bhi mat kehna nahi to wo aap se or baba se naraz ho jaye gi.... Promise? "
meesam nodded her head yes and intertwined her pinky with her fathers', not really grasping the information he relayed to her.

After cleaning up the desk, Murtasim continued his work, with Meesam still on his lap. He couldn't shake off the shock of his little girl uttering a curse learned from him, but he focused on his tasks.

Meesam continued coloring but she thought about the word, what was wrong with saying it? Surely it couldn't be as bad as her baba said it was.....

Later that afternoon, Meerab decided to take a break from her studies to spend quality time with her family. They gathered in their cozy room, where a trolley loaded with tea and assorted biscuits awaited them. Murtasim poured tea for Meerab and himself and handed Meesam a biscuit. The little one happily accepted the treat and went back to her wooden blocks, attempting to build a towering structure.

"Parhai kaisi ja rahi hai?" Asked murtasim as he took a sip of his chai and leaned back on the sofa chaise.
Meerab dipped a cookie in her tea and took a bite of it before responding, "theek hai, bas aik chapter ke hawale tumhari madat chahiye thi. Topic nahin samajh araha."

Murtasim and meerab began discussing the topic from meerabs law text book, lost in conversation and chai.

Meesam happily munched on a biscuit and played with her wooden blocks, while her parents discussed Meerab's studies.

Meesam attempted to build a towering structure with her blocks, it was almost as tall as her. She was about to place the last block when disaster struck. She accidentally knocked the tower over, sending blocks tumbling.

In her frustration, she grabbed one of the fallen blocks and flung it across the room, shouting "AH FUCK!", the same word she had learned from her baba earlier.

The room fell into an eerie silence. Murtasim froze, his heart sinking as he watched his daughter break her promise. Meerab's shocked expression mirrored his own. She put her tea cup down and rose to her feet. "MEESAM MURTASIM KHAN! Ye apne abhi kya kaha?!?!?" asked meerab as her voice became louder and louder.

Meesam looked towards her baba for help, hoping he would save her from her mothers anger like he always did, but murtasim knew, in this case he couldn't say anything.

He had explained to meesam that she shouldn't use this word and had warned her about saying it in front of meerab, but a baby with a busy schedule like hers had other things on her mind like feeding her baby dolls lunch and creating masterpieces with her art set.

"Fuck" whispered meesam as her mother walked towards her.

Murtasims shoulders slumped as he watched it all go down. Meerab walked over to meesam and picked her up in her arms. "Kaha se seekha ye lafz?" She asked, her eyebrows furrowing in anger.
Meesam sensed the tension in the room and shook her head no. "Meesam, Batao mama ko, main aapko nahi datungi, kaha se seekha ye lafz?" probed meerab, determined to get to the bottom of her daughters sudden use of such foul language.

Meesam looked over her mamas shoulder at her father, he sat there pinching the bridge of his nose as he shook his head in defeat. He knew what was coming next.

Meerab followed meesams gaze only to see murtasim at the end of it. She gasped in horror. "BABA SE SEEKHA?!?!?"

Meerab swiftly turned around to meet the apologetic gaze of her husband. Her eyes shooting daggers at him. "Meerab... I can explain..."

"Murtasim! Tum meesam ke saamne ye kaise keh sakte ho? Tumhe pata bhi hai ke Iss umar main bache apne ird gird hui baaton ki nakal karte hai to phir kaise!" Said meerab, her voice getting higher as she spoke.

"I know meerab, tum theek keh rahi ho, lekin Maine jaan buch ke nahi kaha. Galati say nikal gaya. Wo meri coffee gir gayi aur phir....I'm sorry." Murtasim got up from his seat and came to stand right in front of his wife and daughter.

"Murtasim aisa pehli baar nahi hua hai, tumne kahi baar gusse main aake pata nahi kya kya kaha, shukar karo ke uss waqt meesam ne nahi suna." Said meerab, as she turned meesam to rest her on her hip.

Murtasim understood her concern, but he couldn't help but feel defensive. "Main jaanta hoon ke Mujhse galati hui hai meerab. Lekin main sirf insaan hoon, har waqt perfect rehna ahsan nahi hai."

Meerab's anger flared as she retorted, "main tumhe perfect banne ka nahi keh rahi, sirf ye keh rahi hoon keh meesam ke saamne ehtiyat se baat kiya karo."

Murtasim tried to explain "Main maafi tho maang raha hoon na, aur kya karun?"

Meerab shook her head, this wasn't a small matter. She also didn't want to argue with her husband in front of their daughter. "I cant believe you murtasim...hum baad main baat karen gaye."

She turned and started walking towards the door with meesam still nestled on her hip. "Meerab yaar—" murtasim called out only to be met with his wife's back while his daughter peered over her shoulder.

Murtasim ran his hands through his hair in frustration and mumbled "shit!" .

Meerab was still walking towards the door when meesams eyes lit up in amusement. Immediately after murtasim said it, meesam giggled and copied him. "Hahaha shit."

Meerab froze in her tracks. "MURTASIM!!! We just spoke about this!" She yelled. She swiftly turned around and grabbed the wooden block meesam was holding and hurled it at murtasim, hitting his bicep.

"OWWWW MEERAB YAAR KYA KAR RAHI HO???" yelled murtasim as he clutched onto his bicep, rubbing it to ease the barely there pain.

"Meesam, aaj ke baad main ye lafz aapke munh se na sunhoo! Aayi samajh!" Reprimanded meerab as she faced her daughter again.

Meerabs words had a higher influence on meesam because she knew that when her mama said something, she wasn't messing around. Her father on the other hand was quite easy to push around.

Meesam nodded her head yes. "Sorry mama...." said meesam.

"It's okay. Lekin Ainda se meri baat yaad rakhna." Said meerab as she hugged her daughter close and laid a kiss on her little button nose.

The room fell into a tense silence, Meesam clinging to her mother, Murtasim nursing a sore arm, and Meerab contemplating how to handle this unexpected turn of events. She then turned around and walked out the room, yelling "tumhe tho main baad main dekthi hoon." at murtasim, Her voice trailing behind her.
