Rimuru's POV
Once we were a sufficient distance away from all the commotion, I called for Moss, who always keeps one of his clones with me.
"Moss, you know what to do right?"
"Hai. I'll investigate who brought that bracelet into school premises."
"Please do. These are not something that anyone can afford, after all."
I had cast a barrier, to prevent anyone from overhearing us. Moss quickly disappeared to do his job. For now, I guess I should I go back to the S-class.
I spend the remaining of the day playing with them and teaching them a few things.
At night...
Moss had brought back an entire report. In a span of half a day, he had managed to investigate the one who brought the magic item into the school and the one was being all this. The one who brought the magic item was another student, a human at that. The fact that it was a student, more or less, meant someone was working behind the scenes.
There are very few people, who would be so young, have a connection with someone to obtain such a rare magic item, and a plan to use it. But, what I am really concerned about is the reason why it was used.
It seems that the ogre child was the Prince of one of the ogre tribes. He wasn't named yet. The reason for naming at birth is simple, a monster's magicule capacity continued to increase till the time they reach they ten years of age. Upon naming, their magicule reserves multiply. So, naming once their magicule reserves are at their maximum helps in making them stronger.
The prince, being an important part in the ogre tribes was targetted because of the discontent due to the previous meeting, regarding Ivarage. As humans were unable to join, they wanted to show their discontent. Of course they cannot go upfront, so they decided to assassinate someone with a high place in the country. Of course, anyone with higher standing like my twelve patrons, or their families, or tribe heads are impossible, so they aimed the one whom they could deal with.
It seems like the child who actually did the deed was the son of am influential merchant. He was outdone by the ogre child in mathematics, despite the over being from a family of warriors. So, to get revenge, he decided to do so.
Most probably, even his family was in on the entire act. Looks like this will be quite troublesome. Dealing with this merchant will be quite easy, but I am not sure what to do to prevent such things from happening in the future.
<Master could always make an example out of him.>
True. But I doubt the ones behind this care. They are royalty after all. The royalty of Ingrassia. Looks like they are quite angry regarding their stand in the power levels of the world. It hasn't even been 3 years since that entire ordeal with Elrick. Just what is Aegil thinking?
Also, isn't it too lucky that I was there just when this situation occurred? What's the chances that something like that will happen?

<Negative. It was Hinata's ultimate skill «Lord of Fortune Fortuna» which affected the ogre Prince.>
I see. Wait. Isn't this too overpowered? I mean improving your luck like that. Why did Hinata even do that?
<It seems that Hinata was not under full control of her power and it just accidentally increased his luck.>
Wait! Isn't that very dangerous? What if it had given him bad luck?
<That is only possible if their is any enmity between the user and target.>
Sheesh. Isn't this too overpowered? First Masayuki, and now Hinata? Well, whatever. For now, let's talk with Myourmiles about this.
"Could you bring Myourmiles here? Tell him that it isn't am emergency, so he can finish what he is doing." I say to the maid. She just bowed and leaves
Usually Myourmiles would be asleep as he is a human but today he is supervising something regarding the Three Drunk Sages, so he should be awake.
After some time, Myourmiles came running into my room.
"You called for me, Rimuru-sama?" He said while panting heavily.
"There was no need to run. I am sure I told the maid to tell you to take your time."
"Hahaha. How could I make you wait? Did you have another ingenious idea?"
"No no. Rather, what I want to talk about is something more serious."
"Serious, you say?"
"Yes. So you know a merchant by the name Carter?"
"Carter, you say? The name does ring a bell. He is quite a famous merchant in the West, or rather was. His trade has been going downhill, especially after the incident in the festival nearly three years ago. But I believe he finally got permission to trade and settle in Tempest recently."
"I see."
"Why did you ask about him, Rimuru-sama?"
"You see, his son, who was attending the academy did...." I then tell everything to him that had happened in the school.
"I see. This is quite the pickle. What do you want to do with him Rimuru-sama?"
"Well, I have already thought of what to do, but what do you suggest?"
"Well, if I had to suggest, I would make his doings public, and then ban any future trade with him. Tempest will completely shut the door for him and he wouldn't be allowed to trade here."
"I see. Well, I had a similar idea. Just with a few extra steps. I was thinking of dismissing him completely and assassinating him just a few days later."
"But then all the fingers will point directly you. It would be obvious that you were the one who killed him. Shouldn't you wait some more bef-"
"That's exactly why we kill him after a few days. They cannot take any legal actions against us, but everyone will know what it means to go against us."
"I see. That is not a bad plan. It might be a good way to keep other merchants in check, but it will all be for naught if we don't deal with the mastermind behind all of this."
"Ah! You don't need to worry about that, I will personally go and talk this out with Aegil." I can't wait to show him his place once and for all.
"You will only talk right?" Myourmiles asked. Oops. Looks like my emotions were leaking out.
"Of course. Of course.... Most probably ..... Yeah...."
"*Sigh* Just don't go too far."
"Right. Also, arrange an appointment of me with Carter."
"Hai. I will see that the meeting is arranged."
"Right, as I want you to be introducing us, feel free to take your time and find date and time convenient to you."
"Understood. Well then, I will take my leave."
"Sure."
As he left the room, I took out the bracelet and inspected it. What do you think Ciel?
<To tell you the truth Master, it is difficult to guess what it might have originated from. It doesn't have any symbol to identify it. Unlike the bracelets to catch criminal mages which suppresses mana. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a relic of the past. Though there are no signs of using futuristic technology, the base design and modification are beginner level at best.>
I see. So you are saying they might be made by someone from my world?
<Yes.>
I see. Well, let's go and ask the person who have this to Carter and ask straight from him shall we?
