The match had just started and I was already stressing out I kept messing up everything at the beginning everything was going fine but after a few minutes we weren't able to update our weapons
"Jeno i can't do anything the equipments are too slow to load" I say through the headphone almost in tears
"what's wrong with our software" Jeno yells frustrated
"already giving up?" Jay says smirking at us
I am pretty sure he had hacked into the software system he couldn't be trusted especially when he wants to win
"guys I got the code" Jisung says backing us up with his weapons
"that's not going to last too long" Chenle says almost like he was exhausted
"don't you think something is going wrong?" Jaemin says sensing something suspecious about the match
"what?" Chenle says tapping on the keyboard over and over again
"their equipments are working just fine but ours are lacking?" Jaemin says and all my suspicion landed on Jay
"you got no ammos?losers" Jay laughed at us
"Jisung are you done cracking some codes at least?" I said to him about to hit Jay with the computer
"wait i am almost done" Jisung says with sweaty hands due to constant typings
"calm down and give him a break" Sunghoon smirks
"guys try now I think it's done" Jisung says hitting in his best move
"no doubt you are the best" I thanked him, I made my hero chase after Jay's
"you want a rematch? Loser such a pity" Jay says, the amount of self pride he has
"so? at least I don't give up" i said dragging his hero with mine and started firing at him
"Niki don't let him win" Samuel yells from the crowd
"Kick his ass Niki don't let him win" Allen yelled like some dad
"Jay you can't just let your guards down" Sunoo yells from the other side of the crowd
"looks like your little boyfriend also thinks i'll win you should just give up" he says
"he was not talking with you asshole" I said to through the headphone
"you don't even deserve to be in the finals loser" he says attacking my hero from behind
"you should be telling that to yourself not me" I say pulling out a move to escape from his hero amd started firing
'you have slain an enemy'
"how?how is that possible" he was horrified
"you kept talking alot instead of focusing" I smirked heading towards Jisung's hero
"watch out Sung" I say backing him up from behind
"thanks I owe you one" he says giving me a high five
"oh no who's using Keil?" I asked Jisung
"its Jake and he's after you" Jisung says dodging the attacks
"shit we got a problem" I mumbled to myself my weapons weren't working, one punch from Keil and my hero is down
"Jake go after him and match his pace" Heeseung obstructed him
"on my way......shit I missed" he cursed
"how could you miss it?!" Jay yells at him
"the weapon was on load" Jake made up an excuse, I swear he did it on purpose he never missed his punch what's up with him anyways
"thanks for the opportunity" I smiled at him, I tried to load my weapons but it won't budge
"Niki watch out" Jeno says distracting Keil from attacking my hero
"something is wrong with the software system" I said in annoyance
"mine is lagging behind" Jaemin says tapping the keyboard furiously
"we really are going to lose this time" Chenle says in disappointment
"even if we lose at least try to aim for something" Jeno says with a sad smile
"man up guys" Jisung says through a frustrated face
"look out behind you" I said focusing on the screen
The match went on for 45 minutes, our heros kept lagging behind and the weapons won't load everytime we tried to escape and there were times when I wanted to strangle Jay because of how annoying he was and he kept insulting our teammates
I was standing beside my teammates below the stage, we had lost for the first time and it was really hard to take in because even though we gave our best we still lost, Enhypen-G finally won just like Jay said maybe I should just accept the truth that you can't always win.
"the trophy once belonged to us" Jaemin says with pain in his eyes looking at the trophy being held by a different team
"don't be disappointed we did our best that's what matters" Jeno says forcing a smile
"hyung just admit that you are sad too" Jisung says to Jeno
"are you kidding? I'm not sad i'm satisfied by how we played" Jeno says to us
"but we are not" I said to him, I knew it affected him too because he was not used to losing
"forget about this, tournaments will come and go its just the memories we need to cherish" Jeno says pulling us for a hug
"so will you treat us ice cream tomorrow?" Chenle raised his brows innocently
"no we have Mark hyung he will buy us the whole store" Jeno joked
"Niki you did well" Samuel says with a smile
"but we still lost what's the use" I said lowering my head
"but still i'm proud of you because you didn't give up" he says pulling me for a hug, why was he like this,why does he makes me want to ruin myself
"I don't like the feeling of losing" I mumbled, I don't want to lose you either I thought
"its okay to let someone else win sometimes that's how you learn to be better just see how happy they are" he says making me turn towards the mini stage, I realized that he was right I have never seen them so happy holding the trophy they were struggling for years
'its okay to lose especially when I have someone like him to cheer me up'
"anyways congrats on your MVP" he says with a smile
"thanks i'll treat you guys with the money" I let out a laugh
"sure and here is the tshirt" he hands me Jay's tshirt
"Niki can I talk with you? just you and I? Its urgent" Karina says approaching us
"sure i'll be right back Sam" I said with a smile
"Sam i'll take him for some time" Karina says to Samuel while he nods with with a smile
"take your time" Samuel says
"what is it?" I asked her curiously
"during the game did you feeling like something was wrong?" Karina says to me, exactly what I was thinking earlier
"our heroes lagging behind and weapons not loading honestly everything felt off it never happens.......shit are you says?" I asked her realising what happened during the match
"yes....I think they cheated" Karina says pointing out what I was thinking, but for me it was he cheated not them because they literally had no idea
"no its only Jay no one else was involved" I knew only he could get his hands dirty for winning
"maybe we should dig in further for more information" Karina says
"did you guys experience any of those during your match?" I asked her
"no but he is still a cheater" she says
"cheaters really like to maintain their reputation" I said to her
"anyways you played well maybe if I was you I would have given up already" Karina says with a smile
"if it weren't for Samuel I would be crying right now" I said looking towards him
"he really cares for you" Karina mumbled but I couldn't catch it
"you said something?" I asked her
"yeah I have to go i'll see you tomorrow good night" Karina says walking out of the mansion with her friends
"tomorrow then bye" I waved at her, I walking towards Samuel but I bumped into someone
"watch where you are going loser" it was Jay, why do I always bump into him
"its not my fault" I protested
"where is my tshirt anyways loser" he asked me
"take it before i throw it into the dustbin on my way back home" I said handing him his tshirt
"won't you go home and cry to Samuel about how you lost?" he teased me with a smug grind
"why would I cry when I played fair and square while you cheated" I glared at him
"me and cheat? you must be drunk" he says with a dry chuckle
"a cheater never admits that they cheat why would you bother" I rolled my eyes at him
"so what if I cheated? its not like anyone would even know" he smirked
"i'll expost you just wait, don't you know how my teammates worked so hard to get to the finals just for you to blow it up?" I said to him in frustration
"so?why are you telling me this?" he says to me in annoyance
"whatever people like you will never understand what its like to put in efforts and lose" I said walking away from him
"you don't know what's it like to be me" he says like I hit something he was trying to hide for years but I chose to ignore it,why should I want to know what its like to be a cheater
