*Ruby's small pov*
The next day, I arranged to meet up with Oliver to talk about the essay. I was excited and nervous at the same time. After six years of liking him in secret, I could finally talk to him, even as friends. He didn't care that I was in Slytherin, and he said that he loved my company, which made my heart flutter. I was also going to give him the money that I owed him. Because he and I made a bet when he told me that Percy used to have a crush on Y/n during the first three years in Hogwarts but then he grew to hate her but he believes that he still has some feelings even if he doesn't admit it and I believe the same for Y/n but of course she denies it. So we made a bet for how long it will take them to be together, and I said by the end of the month while Oliver said by the end of the year or never because of how selfish both of them are. But Y/n already found her prince charming, who can't stop talking about since last night, so he technically won. When I walked into the Great Hall I found him sitting with Percy who seemed to having a deep conversation with some other Gryffindors. I went and sat next to Oliver, who gave me a gentle smile while he was eating his cereal.
Ruby: You won the bet
I said giving him two galleons, and he looked at me confused
Oliver: Wait, don't tell me she has a boyfriend?
He asked and I nodded negatively
Ruby: Not yet! But from the way she talks about him, I can hear the bells from the church for the wedding
I said with a laugh and he sighed
Percy: Who is getting married?
He asked while joining our conversation. I don't know why Y/n didn't like him, he seemed a really nice guy to me and I just knew that they were perfect for each other
Ruby: No one in particular.
I said trying to lie because I wasn't going to tell my best friend's secrets to her enemy after all. He nodded and then continued talking to another Gryffindor before Oliver turned to me
Oliver: Good bluff, I will use you to cover me next time on something because Percy sucks at it! Anyway, I also found out yesterday that my best friend is in a secret relationship
He said, and I smiled at his first sentence with a blush on my cheeks. He was just so dreamy! Also, that was the moment that I realized we were both wrong. But there is no way we both didn't know well our best friends
Ruby: There is no way we were mistaken
I said, and he nodded agreeing with me, but then he came up with an idea
Oliver: Wait!
He said thinking of something and I looked at him confused
Ruby: What?
I asked and he looked excited about his own idea
Oliver: You will love it!
He said whispering to me his idea and to say the truth he was a genius! That will totally work! Before I was able to answer, I saw my best friend walking my way with her Quidditch uniform because she had to practice in an hour. But before she was able to come to us, Oliver Brown stopped her and started talking with her. I saw her blush from afar, and I smiled at them. My best friend was in love
Oliver: Wait, is it Oliver Brown?
He asked and I nodded. And that was the moment that I realized that my bestie and I totally had something for boys named Oliver. God, we had an amazing type
Ruby: Yeah
I said with a smile, admiring how cute they look. Maybe it was a bad idea to take her away from him just because we thought she liked someone else. Because she seemed to really like him, and I was so glad that she was happy. I caught Percy looking at them and the glares that he was giving to Oliver Brown. Maybe we weren't wrong after all
*End of Ruby's pov*
I entered the Hall looking for Ruby to find her talking with Wood. I walked up to them, but then Oliver B stopped me by taking my arm and I felt my cheeks become red
Oliver: Hi Y/n! I see that you have Quidditch practice.
He said, and I smiled with a nod on my face
Y/n: Yeah, like in an hour
I said nervously and he laughed
Oliver: Well, I would have come to watch you, but I have some homework to finish. I already know you will be great! See you tonight!
He said, and I smiled while waving at him and turn to my best friend who was sitting with her future boyfriend and my worst academic enemy opposite them. He was talking to someone else while they were already looking at me
Y/n: What are you all staring at?
I asked confused and Ruby just smiled looking at Oliver Wood. I knew that she was planning something. I could tell from her face, but I let it go for now and went to my practice because I had a free period in the morning, so I used it for it.
When I finished practice I changed into my uniform and headed to the first class for me today which was potions. Ah, I would die! Two hours of potions are a total nightmare. I sat next to Ruby before Snape entered the class in his usual walk and turned on the fire under some potions that were on the table with his wand. Then he looked at us with his usual I-am-done-with-all-of-you-look.
Snape: Get into teams of four
He said, with not a single feeling formed on his face. I started looking around until Wood talked to Ruby for us to join their team and I nodded my head negatively while Ginger did the same
Y/n: Nope!
I said and Ruby looked at me with puppy eyes
Ruby: Please Y/n I beg you. Do it for me!
She said whispering to me and I sighed. I was going to do her this tiny little favour, but that doesn't mean it won't have consequences for her
Y/n: Alright, but you own me later
I said before standing up from my desk to go to our table, and she smiled proudly to herself. Ruby and Oliver started talking excitedly to each other, while me and Weasley on the other hand wanted to kill ourselves at that moment. I must be given the award of Friend of the Year for what I do for my best friend
Snape: Today's lesson is about Amortenia! The most powerful love potion in the world. Who is going to tell me how it works?
He said, and I raised my hand the same time with the ginger boy. We looked at each other with a competitive look, and then Snape looked around before he sighed. No one else in the room had their hands raised except the two of us
Snape: Mr Weasley
He said and Weasley looked at me with a proud look on his face and I hit his arm before I rolled my eyes
Percy: Amortenia is rumoured to smell differently to each person according to what attracts them. It doesn't create actual love it is more like an obsession and that is why it is the most dangerous one in this room
He said, and Snape removed the lid of the small kettle. I saw pink smoke coming out of it and Snape looked at Weasley
Snape: Want to volunteer and tell us what you smell?
He said, and ginger sighed with a nod before going towards the kettle and taking a sniff.
Percy: I smell coconut mixed with the pages of a new book
He said, and I heard a small noise like someone fell to the ground and saw that Penelope Clearwater had dropped her books on the ground. She looked at him with eyes widened and then stormed out of the classroom and started crying. He wanted to follow her, but Professor Snape stopped him. Then Ruby came to me and whispered
Ruby: Pen is allergic to coconut
She said, and I looked at the door where Penelope had just left from. I felt really sorry for her at that moment. She didn't deserve to get her hurt broken. We haven't talked much before, and I didn't know her as much as Ruby did, but she deserved better from the annoying git. Weasley came and sat next to me while looking at the floor and I kind of felt sorry for him too, so for the next hour that we worked on the Amortenia I didn't make any stupid remarks that could make him feel worse than he already was.
