It was finally the exam day. Nandini was all set to give her exam and she was confident of her preparation.The bell rang indicating the beginning of exam hour. All the student reached the class and settled at their allotted seats.Nandini too took her seat and prayed to her ayiaapaa
Nandini: Ayiaapa please help me to perform well okay? I have prepared well but please thoda dhyaan rakhna haan!
After few minutes Harshad came in the class as the invigilator for the exam. He distributed the question papers to the students and asked them to begin.
Nandini read the paper and knew almost the whole paper except a few in which she was doubtful so she decided to try them at last and started with the rest .
It was almost an hour now . Nandini was fully engrossed in her paper when Harshad spoke
Harshad: Students if you had any unfair means to pass this exam tell it on your own otherwise consequences would be worse..
However nandini didn't pay much attention to it and continued doing her exam.On not getting any response from the students Harshad said
Harshad: ok fine you guys don't want to tell me so i will check myself..
With this harshad starting checking the student's materials to find if they carry any chits to cheat from.When harshad was about to approach nandini's bench a boy sitting behind nandini put some chits in her pouch secretively in order into save himself from getting caught but nandini was completely unaware of it .Harshad came and stood in front of her bench and said
Harshad: Miss Nandini your pouch please..
Nandini finally lifted her head from her sheet unaware of her surrounding and looked at him confused when harshad spoke again pointing towards her pouch
Harshad : I said your pouch ..
Nandini immediately gave him as she thought there was nothing that she was hiding but alas her luck ..Harshad on checking her pouch said
Harshad: Wow nandini!! Inspite of my warning you have the guts to keep them with you to bloody cheat in the exam!?
Harshad spoke angrily on finding the chits in her pouch while she was still in confusion
Nandini: Sir..wha..what are you talking about ?
Nandini finally managed to spoke as she was not understanding a single thing over there
Harshad: I am talking about this Nandini!!
Harshad said showing the chits to her and throwing them at her face in anger.
Nandini: Sir..i..i really don't kn..know anything about it ..please sir..
Nandini was hell scared now but she was still trying to convince him that she knew nothing about it when mukti who was sitting in front of her tried to speak in between
Mukti: Sir just listen..
Harshad spoke again not letting mukti complete
Harshad: Mukti you better concentrate on your exam if you don't want me to take away your sheet..
On hearing him mukti kept quite but was sad for nandini.On other hand nandini again started pleading him
Nandini: Sir please sir...just listen to me once...its a misunderstanding..you..you can even check the handwriting it.its not mine..
Nandini tried make him understand but all in vain
Harshad: Do you think me a fool to believe you..well what else can i expect from a girl like you who always remains distracted in class.. so this is the only way you can pass the exam
Harshad scoffed at her.
Nandini couldn't take the false allegations and said being frustrated
Nandini: Sir pleaseee ..its was for one godamm class..after that i took every class of yours seriously..you just can't blame me for that one reason everytime..
And that was it Harshad couldn't take it anymore and there a sound came 'Splash!' which stunned the whole class . Nandini stood numb for a second when her hand reached to her paining cheek and harshad spoke
Harshad: Don't you dare to argue with me! Enough of this drama just give me your sheet ..you are no more allowed to write this exam ..
Saying this harshad took her sheet and went towards his table while nandini sat with a thud on her bench. Her face showed no emotions .She kept sitting there until exam time get over.On hearing the bell she was about move outside when mukti came running to her and hugged her saying
Mukti: Nandu...are you alright haan? That cheapo i won't leave him ...how can he do this!?
Nandini: Its ok muku ..i am alright don't worry..i think i should go for my maths class now..
Nandini replied coldly not letting out her emotions and went out as she didn't want to break in front of anyone even if its mukti.
After moving out she ran to the washroom and locked herself in one of it .She silently cried sitting there hugging her knees. She didn't want to cry but her tears were not stopping.While she was sobbing she heard mukti's voice
Mukti: Nandu are you inside...please tell me are you ok girl..nandu please ....
Nandini on hearing her quickly wiped her tears and stood up and answered calmly
Nandini: I am all okay mukti ..you go you must have class now ..i m also going just give me few minutes..
Mukti: ok i am going ..you take care..
Mukti went to attend her class and decided to talk to her later .
Nandini on other side came out of the washroom and splashed some water on her face so that it don't seem like she cried although her puffy eyes and red nose were a clear indication of the same
She came out and made her way to the staffroom all lost in her thoughts. On reaching she didn't find manik over there so she moved to the AV room and settled there.
After some time Manik came inside and saw Nandini sitting still staring blankly at the wall.She was looking different today.His sight fell on her puffy eyes and red nose and he didn't felt good about it.He approached her and stood in front of her bench and said
Manik: Nandini.. were you crying?
Nandini turned her face sidewards to hold her tears back which were all ready to flow anytime soon.Manik knew that something was wrong with her today. He sighed and sat beside her on the bench and holding her chin with his hand turned her face towards him which gave a clear view of her messed up face .Manik felt a pang of pain in his heart seeing her like this.She was looking so vulnerable and it made him worried for her
Manik: kidoo..whats wrong haan...tell me
Manik spoke gently and hearing him nandini couldn't control her anymore and the tears started flowing down her cheeks making him disheartened.Manik could not think of anything else and took her in his embrace tightly calming her down
Manik: hey..kiddo shh..stop crying see i am here with you..nothing gonna happen to you tell me what's bothering you haan ...i m here tell me ..please
Manik spoke in order to calm her rubbing her back continuously
Nandini: I.. I didn't do anything..i.i don't k..know how it..it came there...i am not a ch..cheater..i am really not..please tr..trust mee..pl..please
Nandini spoke all broken sobbing in his embrace tightly clutching to his shirt.
Manik on hearing her felt like his world collapsed.He had never seen her like this and unknowingly his heart pained as if someone have stabbed him with a wicked knife.He somehow broke the hug to have a look of her cupping her left cheek with his one hand and holding her hand with his other hand
Manik: kiddo i trust you okay..no matter what anyone says i always be there with you..but do you trust me enough to share what happened..haan?
Nandini nodded and told him the whole incident except the slap part with flowing tears that didn't seem to have an end
Manik: okay you stop crying..we will talk to him ..it must be a misunderstanding..
Manik although was angry with harshad for making this innocent girl cry but he thought it might be an instant reaction of what he saw at that moment and will make him understand nandini's point of view.Thinking all this his attention turned towards nandini and seeing her face he extended his hands to wipe her tears and the moment he moved his right hand to her cheek nandini hissed in pain .It was when his sight fell on her red cheek which had little swelling too
Manik: kiddo did..did he h-hit you?
Manik asked with a frown ..his eyes carrying a concern for her.Nandini
just looked down and fresh stream of tears started flowing down her cheek on remembering the incident.Manik understood seeing her and abruptly took her back in his embrace even tighter than before.
How could he? Who gave him the right to hit her? How could he do it without a second thought!?
Manik was occupied with all these thoughts when her sobs brought him back.He wiped her tears and stood up holding her hand and made his way towards the staffroom.Nandini had no energy to ask him where he was taking her or to argue with him for not going so she simply walked along with him .
But the moment when she saw harshad she realised where she was.Before she could say anything Manik barged in and stood in front of harshad
Manik: Mr.Saxena may i know why did you slapped nandini..
Manik spoke calmly but anger was quite visible in his tone
Harshad: oh..so complaining to other teachers about me haan smart move nandini ..playing the victim card ..i am impressed
Harshad spoke looking at nandini who was standing behind manik holding his hand looking down all the time.Manik felt to punch him at that moment and show him his place but fisted his hand to control himself from creating any scene.Harshad the turned his eyes towards manik and said
Harshad: So Mr.Malhotra yes i slapped her as your dear student told it to you right ..but didn't she told you why she deserved that..what she did to get that..
Manik: Really?do you have any proof of what she did ?
Manik spoke controlling himself
Harshad: i got chits from her ..what else do you need to prove her wrong
Manik: wow..what a proof...did u for once bothered to check her handwriting and match with it or did you just checked the cameras haan tell me..just on the basis of those baseless chits that could belong to any student you took your decision
Manik snapped at him for his stupid reasoning
Harshad : oh come on manik just stop this drama and that too for her ..vaise why such concern for her haan ..u can tell me..u know..
Harshad said with a smirk
Manik could not control himself at his choice of words and held him from his collars and was about to punch him when nandini held him back from doing it .On seeing nandini manik calmed him down and left him and spoke
Manik : Be in principal 's office in ten minutes
Saying this manik was about to leave when harshad spoke
Harshad: what if i don't
Manik: then i will make sure you never enter this school again..
Manik warned him and stormed out along with nandini .While Harshad scoffed at him and went out behind him to the principal 's office.
So an end to this chapter 😁
