This isn't Shippuden yet, I'm just writing a epilogue, like everyone's reaction to Y/N's "death". Hope y'all enjoy.
Back in Konoha, the retrieval team was being healed along with Satsuki. Naruko was covered in bandages and wires as she lay unconscious. Kiba was in a hospital bed as his sister was taking care of Akamaru. And Neji lay in a middle of array of seals, the medics lead by Shizune was healing a hole on the young Hyuga's left shoulder.
In the hall, sat Shikamaru and in front of him was the eldest of the sand siblings, Temari.
Temari: There's no use in fidgeting.
She said making Shikamaru look at her as he stopped fidgeting.
Temari: Sacrifice is an inevitable part of missions... Didn't you get any emotion training?
Shikamaru didn't answer as he looked at her with his eyebrows furrowed.
Shikamaru: Training and combat are different... In missions, you don't know what's going to happen.... This is my first time being a team leader in a mission... Sure we completed the objective but we lost someone too... I'm not cut out to be a Shinobi...
All was silent for a moment, until the silence was broken by a comment from Temari.
Temari: Unexpected fragility.... Men are strange... Are you afraid of being hurt?
Shikamaru stayed quiet looking depressed. He then stood and walked away walking past his father that was waiting around the corner.
Shikaku: Shikamaru.. you're being talked down by a girl, and you're running away...?
His father said to him, making him stop in his tracks and looked at his father over his shoulder.
Shikamaru: I don't want to have a troublesome conversation... I'm not a girl.
Shikaku: That's true... But you're also not a man... You're just a coward. Even if you quit being a Shinobi, missions will still happen. They will be carried out by others. Your comrades will just go out on missions with a new team leader. They might did, but if you're their team leader at that time then maybe you can prevent them from dying.
Shikamaru was silent as his father talked.
Shikaku: Take your failure as a learning experience, then maybe you can carry out missions with less problems... If you really care about your comrades then stop and think before you run away.. Consider that you may be a greater leader for their sake! That's what it means to be comrades! You coward!!
They stood there silent for a while. Soon a door opened and Tsunade walked out of the door. She informed Shikamaru that his team was in good condition, Shizune too arrived and informed him of Neji's good condition.
Tsunade: Good job Shikamaru, on a successful mission... Think about what your father just said... I don't think Y/N would want you to quit either.
Hearing that broke Shikamaru into tears. He nodded and walked away.
Later.
The news of Y/N's death spread throughout the clans. The most effected was the Kisaragi Clan. The clan head, her husband and her daughters were called to the Hokage office.
Minato: Kisaragi-sama, thank you for coming.
She bowed and greeted back.
Rei: How can we help you Hokage-sama?
Minato: I wish to inform you of the latest mission of Y/N L/N former Kisaragi. I know that he may not be part of the Kisaragi-Clan but I wish to inform you not as his Clan leader, but as you as his mother.
Rei nodded and looked at her husband while the sisters looked at each other worried.
Minato: In the retrieval of Satsuki Uchiha, I regret to inform you that Genin Y/N L/N was K.I.A.
The sisters gasped eyes widen and mouths slightly open. Rei and Shitaro( her husband) too were shocked.
Rei: Excuse me but I think I heard you wrong... Did you say that our son is dead?
Minato nodded. This confirmation broke the dam holding the tears of the sister as they cried as the parents were frozen in place.
Kanna: N..no...No! You're lying!! He can't be dead!
Shitaro came and comforted his daughters as they cried over their dead little brother. Rei came closer and attempted to hug Kanna, who seemed to be taking it the worst, but she was pushed away.
Kanna: This.. is all your fault!! I hate you!
Kanna ran in tears. Mei and Sheena looked at their mother and ran after their eldest. After they left, Rei broke her facade and let out tears as she was embraced by Shitaro.
Else where.
Sakura was on a bridge thinking about her teammates. Why Satsuki left and wondered if they brought her back or if they're ok. Suddenly a voice called out to her.
???: Sakura!!
She looked towards the voice came and saw Ino.
Ino: Sakura, everyone's back, let's go see them in the hospital!
Ino grabbed hold of her hand and dragged her towards the hospital.
In the hospital:
Naruko sat on her bed devoid of emotion... The image of Y/N's back with a chidori going through it was stuck in her head. Then she remembered his last words to her as he looked back.
Y/N: 'Make sure... To fulfill... Y..your dreams... And I'm sorry I won't be... Able to see you become... Hokage.'
She was suddenly broken out of her head as a familiar voice called her name.
Shikamaru: Looks like you're finally awake.
Shikamaru said leaning on the wall.
Ino and Sakura was now at the lobby asking for the room of Naruko. After getting the room number, the two started to make their way to Naruko. When they arrived at the door, they heard talking.
Naruko: So... Everyone else is safe... That's good... What about Satsuki?
Shikamaru: ... She's in a guarded hospital room...
Naruko: Wh..what about Y/N?
Shikamaru: .... I... I'm sorry..
The two outside the door widened their eyes at what they just heard.
Ino: 'Y/N.. dead? It can't be!'
Sakura: 'Y/N's... Dead?'
Tears were flowing down Naruko's eyes, feeling guilt that she let one of her friends die. Just then, the door flew open roughly with a loud bang as a tears filled Ino walked in and grabbed Shikamaru by his collar.
Shikamaru: Ino-
Ino: Explain! Where's Y/N?!
Shikamaru: I'm sorry... He's.. he's gone..
Ino lost strength in her legs and collapsed now on her knees crying. Sakura went to her and comforted the blonde.
Shikamaru: I'm sorry Ino... I know you two were close, so here...
Shikamaru handed her a flack jacket with a hole on the left chest area and a headband.
Shikamaru: This is Y/N's flack jacket and headband. This is all we found of his.
Ino took the jacket and hugged it close. When she hugged it something fell out of one of the pockets. She picked it up to see the ring she had bought him. Seeing this she cried even more at the loss of her crush.
