we arrived at my room and i sat down on the bed. bernard sat down next to me and held out a fist "open your hand and put it under mine"
i did what he said and he put a ring in my hand "you can use this to signal me when you're back at your house. you can signal me whenever i just might not respond sometimes because i'm very busy"
i nodded and put it on my ring finger, but on my left hand so it didn't look like i was married. i remembered how my dad was acting so i decided to apologize for it.
"hey bernard," bernard looked over at me and i continued "i am so sorry for the way my dad was tonight. he's not always this insufferable. he just hates when new things are sprung onto him like this. it's not like he has anything against you, because why would he, but he just doesn't like people in general."
"it's not you're fault he was like that meadow. you have nothing to be sorry for. now get some rest, you have a long year with your dad ahead of you." bernard walked out, leaving me to fall asleep in this random room.
