━━━━━━━━━ The sun has set as the group continue to walk through the woods following the compass in Dustin's hands.
"Something's happening" Dustin says walking in a fast pace
"Dustin, would you slow down" Eddie says following after him
"I think we're getting close" Dustin calls out to them
"Watch your step, big guy" Eddie says grabbing a hold of Dustin before he steps into the water
"Oh, man. You got the be kidding me" Steve says as they all stop at the edge
"I thought these woods looked familiar" Eddie says to them
"Lovers Lake" Robin says in disbelief
"This is confounding"
"There's a gate in Lovers Lake?" Max asks them
"Whenever the Demogorgon attacked, it always left an opening. Maybe Vecna's the same" Nancy says to them
"Yeah, only one way to find out"
Eddie and Steve pull the boat from the side of them pushing it more into the water.
"Easy man, i said easy" Steve tells him
"Sorry" Eddie says as the two of them hold onto the back of the boat
"Yeah, i'm just gonna do that" Robin says holding onto their shoulders and helps herself onto the boat
"Wheeler" Eddie says sticking out his hand to Nancy helping her onto the boat
"Thanks"
"Hey, hey, hey, you trying to sink us?" Steve asks pushing Dustin back from getting into the boat "This thing holds three people tops, okay?"
"It's better this way, okay? You guys stay here with Max" Nancy tells him "Keep an eye out for trouble"
"You keep an eye out. It's my goddamn theory" Dustin snaps at her
"You heard her" Robin says to him
"Who put her in charge?" he asks her
"I did"
"Compass" Nancy says sticking her hand out to Dustin making him place the compass in her hand
Steve starts to push the boat out into the water before he jumps in it last minute.
"You said three" Dustin says to him
"Sorry" Steve mouths back
"Bedtime at nine, kiddios" Robin says as they paddle away "Miss you already!" she calls out waving to them

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down. Show down, guys" Nancy tells the two boys
"What's going on?" Dustin asks through the walkie "Come on guys, talk to me"
"Uh, Dustin, your compass has gone from wonky to wonky with a capital 'Aah!" Robin tells him
Robin looks up from looking down at the water to see Steve is starting to take off his shoes.
"Steve, what are you doing?" Robin asks him
"Somebody's gotta go down and check this out" he says looking at her "Unless one of you three can top being a Hawkins High swim co-captain and a certified lifeguard for three years, then... It's gotta be me. No complaints, alright?"
"Hey, i'm not complaining" Eddie says shaking his head "I do not want to go down there"
Eddie then pulls out a plastic bag and wraps it around the flashlight.
Steve takes off his shirt before grabbing the plastic covered flashlight from Eddie's hands.
"A minute, i'm counting a minute" Robin says pointing her finger at him
Steve gives Robin a small smile and nod before jumping down into the lake. Steve swims down deeper and deeper into the water as he keeps getting darker.
He comes upon a pile of rocks that are covered in fish bones. He turns his head to the right where he sees a glistening red light.
He swims towards that red light to be met with a red glowing gate. It's smaller to the original gate but it's still a gate.
Steve smiles to himself before he swims even closer and places his hand into the barrier between the two worlds when something hits the other side making Steve drop the flashlight.
Steve quickly swims back up to the surface getting a breath of fresh air making the three in the boat jump back at the sudden moment.
"Oh Christ!" Eddie yells out
"I found it" Steve pants out grabbing onto the side of the boat
"You found it?" Robin asks him
"I found it. Yeah. I found it"
"Dustin, you are a goddamn Einstein. Steve found the gate" Robin says into the walkie
"It's pretty wild. It's more a snack size gate then the mama gate, but still, it's pretty damn big" Steve tells them
Steve's breaths gets stuck in his throat as something grabs onto his ankle and pulls him down a little. He looks up at the three with scared eyes only to be pulled back down into the water.
"Steve! Steve!" Robin screams out
"No! No! No! No!" Eddie yells out "What the hell was that, man?"
"Nancy, really, what was that?" Robin asks looking at her
The vine is wrapped tightly around Steve's ankle as it pulls him through the water and through the gate. He is thrown onto the hard floor where the vine drags Steve across the floor where he screams out.
"Wait, wait, wait. You're not really going in there, are you?" Eddie asks looking at Robin
"Just wait here" Robin says before jumping in the water
"Goddamn it!"
"No, no, no, no. What are you doing? He said wait" Eddie says to Nancy as she goes to dive in
"Yeah, so wait" Nancy says then jumps into the water
"No, goddamn it!" Eddie screams out looking into the water "Son of a bitch! Oh, this is so stupid. This is so stupid. This is so stupid. Shit! Shit! Shit!" he says before jumping in after them
The vine throws Steve onto a log where he grunts out. He slowly stands up from the ground where he takes a good look around to see he's in the Upside Down.
He turns his head when he nears a noise behind him to see bats flying straight for him.
Steve backs up a little to see the boat not far so he quickly grabs onto the ora as the bats keep getting closer and closer to him.
Steve steps forwards hitting any bats that are close enough to him. Behind him one of the bats wraps their tails around his neck making Steve drops the ora on the ground as he lands on his back.
The tails grip gets tighter as some bats land next to his stomach and start to dig their teeth into Steve's skin making him scream out in pain.
