Part IV – Call me 'Shintaro'
It's your vacant time and after having snacks, you head on to your table and continue your lesson plan for Monday. You have to finish all your tasks this month so you will no longer have a problem when you already transferred to Tokyo.
You've been working at this school for about four years now and you are surely going to miss your students. Being a teacher is tough work but you're loving it despite all the difficulties. After all, your students brought you so much happiness even if they're difficult to handle.
Pulling off a deep breath, you put down your pen and lean your back on the chair. Three more weeks and you'll be going to a new school and a nursery school at that.
You smile as you thought about your new students. It would be really different and you will need to adjust since you've been teaching high school. But at the same time, you're also excited to see their cute faces as they run toward you.
On the thought, you let out a giggle as you stand up from your seat to patch up your things on your table. You're just about to put your lesson plan inside your bag when suddenly, someone slammed the door open.
"Ms. (Last name), we need your help! Mika suddenly fainted in the corridor and we need to get her to the clinic!" one of your co-teacher said while panting for air.
"I'll be right over." You quickly put down your things as you walk hurriedly out of the room. "Have you called the school's doctor?" you ask in between breaths. You two are now walking fast down the stairs.
"Yes, we called her already but unfortunately she's not here. She's attending the conference for Doctors which is held in Tokyo so she wouldn't be able to give any medical attention. That's why we called you if ever you have any other choice."
"Gosh... does the school have any replacement if ever we had a situation like this?" you ask.
"Yes. Unfortunately, the doctor is tending an injured student so he is not available right now ."
"But still, we need to get her to the clinic." Then, you two hurriedly run towards the place. As you reach the location, you quickly called someone who could carry Mika all the way to the school's clinic.
Soon as you reach the clinic, you carefully took the girl from the person who carried her and you gently lay her on the bed. Then, you turn to your co-teacher. "Look after her. I'm going to call someone."
She only nodded in response then you immediately walks out of the clinic. You are walking rapidly towards the school's gate until you reach outside. You pause for a while to catch your breath then head on to the other side of the street. After a while, you finally reach Midorima's clinic facility.
As you got inside, you could have just left already because of the unexpected sight but because of some important matters, you ignored the feeling and head on to talk to the nurse in charge.
"Good afternoon, miss... is Doctor Midorima available? I really need to talk to him..."
"Yes ma'am... he's in the office." She said, gesturing her hand on the room's door. "You can come inside."
"Thanks..." you say as you head on towards the office, not minding the person who is now looking at you once you got inside.
"(First name)-chan..." you hear him say but you chose to ignore him.
You knock on the door and waited for an answer inside.
"Come in..." a firm voice said.
You turn the knob and open the door.
"How may I help you?" he asks, without even looking.
You walk inside, you're about to close the door yet, didn't notice that Takao had followed you so you just let him inside so he's the one to close it.
"Mido-kun..." you softly said which makes the green-haired doctor turn his eyes on you.
He stares at you for a while then at Takao. "You can leave, Takao..." he suddenly said to his friend.
"No, it's okay... It wouldn't be long..." you uttered out all of a sudden.
"(First name)-chan..."
You didn't pay attention to him, solely focusing on the other person.
He took a deep breath first before turning his eyes back on you. He's staring seriously at you while waiting for you to start talking.
You pulled off a deep breath then, "I need your help, doc. One of my students suddenly fainted somewhere and no one in our school could help her. Our doctor is at the conference and the other wasn't available either and you're the only one I know that could help her now."
Without any further ado, he stood up immediately and reach for his suit jacket. "Let's go..." he said and walks ahead of you.
You didn't know but soon as you saw his serious face, you suddenly felt something. But then, you shrug it off and walk after him, with Takao following after.
The three of you went to the school's gate but the guard suddenly went in front, halting you three.
"Ma'am?"
"Don't worry. This is Doc Midorima and his friend, Takao. They're here to assist me on something."
"Okay ma'am... sorry for..."
"No problem. Thank you..." you cut him off then, gesturing to the two inside the school.
You three quickly headed to the clinic to take a look at the said student. Upon reaching the place, Midorima introduces himself to the people inside and then walks closer to the patient. He took out his stethoscope and check on her.
"I'll go now." your co-teacher suddenly said, tapping your shoulders.
"Okay... I'll look after her."
"Thanks..." then she went off.
"(First name)..." Takao calls out your name after a while...
You pulled off a deep sigh and turn to him.
"Can we-."
Before he could finish talking, you just shake your head and stared at him seriously. "Takao now's not the time to talk. I'm sorry..." then, you turn your back on him and just look at Midorima, who is checking out your student's condition.
You are seriously staring at him and as you watch him, the feeling you just felt arises again. You don't know but as you watch him doing his work, you couldn't help but admire him. His face was serious yet you could notice a different kind of passion written on his eyes. It seems like, you're seeing the other side of him.
You only met him and for just a short while, you're already comfortable having his company.
At first, you thought he was simply a serious guy, but as you eat lunch with him the other day, you notice that he's also a bit of a shy type. He's reserved yet so straightforward about some things.
And now, you're like seeing another person. Serious and... you don't know any right words but... he looks so sensual while he attentively looks at your student's condition.
He's already done and when he turns his eyes on you, he was a bit taken by how you look at him. But he decided to shrug it off and clears his throat, which startles you slightly.
You awkwardly look away to hide your embarrassed face.
On the other hand, Takao has been looking at you and seeing how you look at his friend, which not only bothered him but causes him pain. He knew that look because you used to look at him that way.
He wears off his stethoscope and turns to you. "The reason why she fainted is because of exhaustion. Just give her a rest for a while and she'll be okay."
After hearing what he said, you just sighed in relief and stares at your student. "Thank you." you simply said as you look up at him. And soon as your eyes met his, you felt your heart suddenly skip a beat. You immediately turned away and tries to shake off the weird feeling.
"If something came up like this, don't hesitate to call me." then, he handed you over his calling card.
"O-Okay, thanks, M-Mido-kun..." you stuttered and you just wanted to smack your head for that.
"We better go..."
"O-Okay... 'til next time Mi-."
"You can call me Shintaro, (First name)..."
"Shin-chan..." Takao suddenly utters out as he stares disbelievingly at his friend.
And you, you suddenly turn your eyes on him, eyes are wide being taken by surprise at what he just said to you.
Seeing how you look, a slight tint of blush appeared on his face and he adjusted his glass just to avoid being so obvious, then he clears his throat just to shake off the feeling.
"Bye, (First name)..." then he turns to his friend who still has not recovered from what he heard. "Let's go now, Takao..." and he walks off.
Takao set one glance at you before he walks after his friend.
And you
You're just staring at the door as they went off.
What just happened sent you off-guard and flustered at the same time.
"Shintaro..." you softly said, still your eyes on the place where they went off.
