"It's really cold in October, here in Denver." I say, pulling my thin jacket closer around me as Austin and I walk around to school.

Austin wraps an arm around me and rubs my shoulders, warming me a bit. I smile and nudge him, making him laugh. "Where did you guys live before you moved here?"

"Miami," I say, looking at my boots as we walk. "My mom and dad--" I cut myself off, not really wanting to tell him about my parents yet. "Um, nevermind."

"You don't have to talk about your parents if you don't feel comfortable with it," He tells me, rubbing my shoulders once again. "I won't force or pressure you, but when you're ready to tell me, I'm there with an opened ear."

It's quite amazing having Austin as a friend. He's very playful, yet caring and respectful towards me. I can tell he wants to know more about me, but he never pushes a subject if I'm not comfortable with it. He's just an overall amazing and great person.

So far, the only things I've told him is that our parents left us, meaning; Laura and I, and that I'm not a virgin (which was random of him to ask, but I answered regardless).

Austin has told me about his parents' divorce, which was his father in an affair, so he didn't like talking about that much, he's told me that he can write songs (although I won't believe him), and that he's never had a girlfriend or, get this, gotten kissed. I teased him about that last one, and he just blushes and stays quiets.

I have to admit, it's pretty cute when he blushes or is embarrassed.

"You're an amazing friend," I say and give him a soft smile as I look up at him. "You're probably the best someone has treated me. Other than my sister."

"It's no problem," Austin says and nudges me once again. "Hey, speaking of your sister, I heard Ross and Laura were going out to dinner soon, via eavesdropping on my brother while he's on the phone."

I laugh and shove him. "That's so rude, doofus."

He laughs, too and then we get to the front of the school. Austin nudges me and points to a group of people by the bushes of the school. It wasn't too big, but as far as I could see, it looked like they were crowded around someone. "Let's check it out." He says and we sprint over there.

As we get close enough I can hear a shaky feminine voice say, "Look, I'm sorry, but I really don't have any money. M-My mom lost her job and we're on--"

I then hear a deeper voice, who I'm supposing is a male say, "Well, I guess my buddies will have a little fun with you, aye? I mean, since you can't pay us with money."

Then there's a sound of a clothing getting ripped, but I quickly make my way over to the scene, not needing to hear anything else. Austin follows me, but I'm too worried about the girl to care.

I now have a clear view when she screams, "No, don't!"

"Hey!" I yell, my face flaring with anger. They all move away from the girl to look at me. I gesture for the girl to come my way and she does as quickly as she can, running into my arms and hugging me tightly.

"What the hell are you guys doing to her?" Austin asks, walking in front of the girl and I.

"That bitch owes me money," He says bitterly. "If she can't pay with money, she can pay another way."

The girl hugs me tighter and I rub her head, soothingly. "Touch her again, you'll be dealing with me." I say and turn, ready to walk again

Then someone says, "Am I supposed to be scared of a girl?"

I release the girl and turn back around, knowing it's the same voice that threatened the girl, I walk up to him and grab his collar. "No, you're not supposed to be scared of a girl," I say as I grip his collar tighter, choking him. "but you're supposed to be scared of me."

One punch in the face, he's knocked out.

Rolling my eyes, I make my way over to Austin and the girl again. I put an arm around her and she leans into my side, still shaking. I frown and look down at her before asking, "Are you okay? Do you want us to take you to the office or your class?"

"I-I need a new shirt." She speaks, finally look up at me. Her eyes are crystal blue, her cheeks are rosy red, although I can't tell if it's because of crying or of her cheeks are naturally flushed, and she has a very cute and round nose. I then look down to wear she's pointing and sees that her shirt is tore and your can see her a little too much of her bra. The girl covers it quickly before Austin can look.

I giggle and ask, "What's your name?"

"Gracie."

"Well, Gracie, I think I have an extra hoodie in my locker, will that work for today?" I ask, looking down at her.

She nods and hugs me tighter as we make our way into the school. "Thank you for saving me back there," she speaks up as we reach my locker. "I-I don't owe him any money; he just likes to take my money an-and threaten me. He almost did it today though, so thanks."

"It's no problem," Austin says and gives her a reassuring smile. "I'm Austin and that's Ally, by the way."

I hand her one my hoodie and put my things inside of my locker. "Are you a Freshman?"

Gracie slips on her jacket and shakes are head. "Sophomore," She says as she pulls it down a bit. "Do you want me to bring this back after a certain period or--"

"You can keep it," I say, closing my locker. "Want us to walk you to class?"

"No thank you," Gracie says and gives us a faint smile. "But thanks for the help today. You guys are a cute couple, by the way."

Austin and I chuckle and wave as she walks away.

"Maybe we're just hot together or something, because we literally didn't do anything to give off the expression that we were a couple." I tell Austin, nudging him.

He chuckles and pulls me under his arm and ruffles my hair. I laugh and try to push him off. "I'm the hotter one of this relationship, then."

"Hey, Austin! Moon's girl!"

"Looks like you're still Moon's girl, Als."

Als? Hmm, that's new. I kind of like it. Better than 'Moon's girl', anyway.

Austin releases me and both of us turn around to see a boy turning towards us. Just as the boy reaches us and is about to start speaking, Austin stops him, "We'll listen to whatever you have to say once you call Ally by her actual name."

"Sorry, Ally," the boy apologizes quickly. "Anyways, Jessica told me to tell you that you guys are invited to the party he's throwing this Friday!"

"No thanks." "Okay I'll see her there."

- - - - -

"Why do you want to go to Jessica Carter's party?" Austin asks me as we take a seat in biology. "She's a lesbian--"

I raise an eyebrow at him. "So you're homophobic now?"

"You didn't let me finish," Austin says quickly, shaking his head. "Jessica's a lesbian and, somehow, she has slept with almost every girl she wants."

"How do you she wants me? Because she invited me to her party?" I ask, scrunching my eyebrows in confusion. "Austin, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't have invited you if she wanted me."

"Ally, you've never even spoken to each other, isn't that a bit off?"

"I'm going to that party, Austin, and you can join me or be a whimp. Your choice."

"Fine. I'll go, but I'm watching over you and be careful of what you drink."

- - - - -

"Who's Jessica, anyways?" I ask Austin, putting my hair in a ponytail as we get ready for volleyball.

Since the girls' gym is getting cleaned, we're all on the boys' side, but we're still play two separate games. Girls are first and then boys. I'm not the best at volleyball, but I like sports in general so, I'm not going to get upset.

"She's in this class, actually," Austin says and looks around. "She hasn't came in recently because she had 3 weeks of during-school detention. It's usually during second hour, but her detention is over with now."

"What's she like?"

"Jessica is basically the only girl, other than you now, that works for her grade. She's great at volleyball, and works just as hard in every other thing," Austin says as we take a seat. "The only thing bad about her is that she supposedly takes advantage of every girl she wants."

"If she can get every single girl she wants, I don't think it's her that's the problem. If she sleeps with any girl she wants, she would have a reputation. And that person should have known about that reputation." I speak, standing up as the whistle is blown.

"Okay, today we're going to play some volleyball! You girls know the rule; Carter and... Becney, choose your teammates."

I suppose the ginger with beautiful green eyes is Jessica because the other girl rolls her eyes at literally everything I do. Jessica doesn't look like the type of girl to take advantage of other girls, but I could be wrong. I don't judge by looks.

"Jessica, you can go first," Mrs. Beachling says, pointing to her.

Jessica looks at all of the girls. My stomach twists for some reason when her eyes meet mine. I see a smirk form on her face before she says, "I want Ally," A few people 'ooooohhh' for effect. Jessica's eyes go to the other girls, her smirk leaving her face. "Um, Amber, Jen, Alice, and Daisha."

All of us join Jessica on her side and we wait for the other girl to choose her team. Someone taps on my shoulder and I look behind me to see Jessica, standing there with a friendly smile on her face. I give her a smile, too.

"I'm Jessica," She say, still smiling at me. "And you must be Ally."

Nodding, I ask, "I am indeed, but how do you know who I am?"

She laughs. "It's kind of hard to not hear about the person who stomped Keli to ground. I wish I did it, but eh."

I laugh a bit and she laughs with me. Just as I'm about to ask another question, the coach blows the whistle. "Okay, let's play!"

- - - - -

"God, you girls are such idiots!" Jessica screams at the girls on our team, well, except me. "How the fuck did you guys grow up?! With caked up faces and small brains?! What's so fucking hard about hitting a ball?!"

"Why aren't you yelling at Ally! She's on the team, too!" Amber screams.

Jessica's about to answer, but Daisha interrupts her and says, "Because Ally's Jessica's next fling, obviously."

Jessica rolls her eyes. "Wow, thanks for telling me who I have feelings for. Ally's cute-- wait, you're actually extremely hot, in every way possible," she says, looking back at me and winking. I find myself blushing. "I'm not saying that I wouldn't hookup with Ally, but I'm not saying my intention is to hookup with Ally. She isn't an idiot; she isn't going to sleep with me after a few drinks."

"Don't you drug your girls?" Jen asks.

"I've never touched a drug, or a pill other than painkillers. Girls who I sleep with are pretty much tipsy then play it off as if they were hella drunk."

"I don't believe you."

"I didn't expect you to," Jessica says with a smirk and turns back to me. "I promise the reason why I invited you to my party is because you're just a cool person. I won't try anything unless you do."

I nod and grin at her. I didn't trust fully trust her, but she's definitely not on my bad side.

So far, the day was pretty strange.

Comment and vote, please! I know this chapter is pretty messy, but eh. I hope you enjoyed it! :D There'll probably some conflicts soon, hmm, I don't know. *wink*
