Sam was worried. He'd been worried for a few days. He was worried about his daughter Jones. Jones was always at the fire station expect when she had school or fire cadets but recently she'd hadn't been at the station in free time. This wasn't like his daughter, who wanted to become a firefighter and wanted to be like him.
He excused himself from the lounge where Ellie and Elvis where yet again arguing about something and headed out to the fire station after telling Steele he was going to check up on family though Steele had a feeling on who he was going to check up on.
He first checked her inventing shed and he saw it was spotless and his daughter was nowhere to be seen so he opened the front door which was locked. It was unlocked of Penny or Jones was inside though his daughter did have a tendency to lock the door on Halloween. Though today wasn't Halloween it was May 23rd.
He saw his daughter sat on the sofa in the living room looking lost and wearing a hoodie with the hood up and her blue station pj bottoms. The tv remote laying beside her as the TV played what seemed to be a film she wasn't so interested in watching.
He zoned out and soon came back to the present when his daughter was right in front of him looking alarmed and concerned at him.
Sam was about to say something when he heard a growl and then he saw the nerves scatter on his daughters face and he gently held her arm and lead her to the living room and sat her down and he sat down next to her before he pulled her into a loose hug as not to hurt me.
After a while Sam said "Jones I know you've not ate today but how long?"
"A few days" came the quiet reply and he rested his head on top of his daughters head his heart breaking at what I said next "the older years said I'm too big dad and not in a bright way either"
Sam pulled his daughter closer and into a tighter hug and said "don't listen to them okay, I know it be hard to do right now but you need to eat Jones, even if it's something small, firefighters eat to perform well"
"They do?" I asked
He had her attention. He sent a quick text to Elvis about cooking my fave which was chicken wraps. After an confirmation over text had been done Sam turned me so I faced him and he said "yeah how do you think Steele's the station officer?"
"Cause he's strong?" I replied
"That he is" Sam said as he picked me up once we got to the front door of the house
Once out and door locked Sam said "Jones how about eating a chicken wrap? Just one and then you can go in a ride in Neptune"
"Hm, don't you need to ask mum?" I asked
"I will, but she let you if you eat something for me please" Sam said as we walked to the station, clear worry etched on his face and laced in his voice
"Yes dad, sorry dad" I mumble
"Sorry for what?" He asked confused
"For making you worry" came the quiet reply before a hitch breath started a course of sobs
"Jones it's okay" Sam said as he sat on the stairs wiping away tears as they fell down my freckled face "besides it's my job as your dad to worry"
