October 31, 1981
"He killed them!" Shouted Sirius as he stormed into the home of him and his wife, slamming the door shut behind him, his body and mind full of rage. "Peter sold them out!"
"What.." whispered Silvia Snape-Black who was standing in the kitchen cooking dinner for them hearing her husband from the hallway, "no, they can't be dead..they have to look after harry, watch him grow up, go to Hogwarts. He has to watch them grow old!" she cried, tears now trailing down her once well manicured face as mascara streams splashed onto the wooden floor beneath them.
Sirius glanced at his distraught wife as she now collapsed into his arms. "Shhhh darling..everything will be ok" he whispered into her ear as he rubbed circles with his fingers into her shiny, waist length, black hair, Silvia barely hearing him over the heartbreaking, echoing sobs travelling throughout their house.
After minutes of digesting what had happened, rage and anger was all the Black couple felt. "I'm going to kill that traitorous bastard sirius even if it's the last thing I do!" she shouted, getting up off of the floor where she and Sirius had sat just minutes prior and grabbing her black, initial engraved cloak that her brother had gifted her for her birthday.
"I'm coming with you, we will end him, together" Sirius said grabbing ahold of his wife's hand and apparating to Wormtail's home.
Bursting into Pettigrew's home, the couple found him sitting in the corner, wand in hand with a guilty, frightened look upon his face. "YOU BASTARD!" Silvia yelled, pointing her wand at him with one hand as she punched him with the other. "YOU TRAITOROUS, LYING, DEATHEATER BASTARD!" Silvia was hitting him repeatedly now as adrenaline filled her body, wanting to avenge her best friends' deaths.
"HOW COULD YOU" Sirius shouted, him now joining in after allowing his wife to get the first go at him. Sirius had his wand to Peter's throat, as did Silvia.
"You may have killed our friends Peter but you forgot just one little thing, nobody touches our family" said Silvia in a cold, unnerving voice.
"What she said" said Sirius from beside her, smirking.
"Please don't kill me!" begged Peter, "I had to or he would have killed me!" begged Peter again.
"YOU SHOULD'VE DIED. DIED RATHER THEN BETRAYING YOUR FRIENDS!" shouted Sirius.
"Now, we are going to kill you" stated Silvia.
"Together"
The killing curse was longing to touch their lips, but before they could say it, the traitor had grabbed a knife off of a table next to him, sliced his finger off and apparated out of the house leaving no time for Sirius nor Silvia to grab him. "Coward!" Silvia screamed as Peter apparated away.
Silvia was going to go after him but Sirius simply shook his head and took her hand in his muttering something about "His time will come" and that "the ministry would catch him". Sighing, Silvia agreed and the couple apparated back to the safety of their house and ate their now burnt dinner in uncomfortable silence, their minds flickering back to the events that had taken place that night. All Silvia was worried about was harry, he was never going to know his parents, but she kept telling herself that he would still have Sirius and herself; his godparents.
She was outraged, no furious at dumbledore for not allowing them to look after Harry themselves, Hagrid essentially saying that he'd be better off in a house of abusive, horrible muggles instead. Dumbledore was a manipulative, lying bastard and she knew that but no one would agree with her, for they were already too far gone with his manipulative ways.
As the couple were sat there finishing off their dinner, 'I can't help falling in love with you' by Elvis Presley began playing on the record player that Sirius had bought her for her birthday that year. It was her favourite song. Standing up, giving Silvia a sad smile he walked over to her and placed one hand onto her forearm and the other onto her waist, stood her up and began swaying them to the rhythm of the song, hoping, no praying that this nightmare would end soon.
"I love you Silv, stay with me.." Sirius whispered softly, voice cracking.
"Always" Silvia replied, her voice also cracking.
That night the couple went to bed with aching hearts and restless minds, but they had each other and that was all that mattered to them.
November 1, 1981
A wave of grief hit them like hell the next day. The couple sat in their living room, cuddled up together as their broken mind drifted off to nowhere, the sound of celebratory voices on the radio and throughout their street in neighbouring homes drifting past their ears. Yes, Voldemort was gone but so were Lily and James. Harry's parents. Sirius, Remus and Silvia's best friends. The traitor pettigrew was also gone and nowhere to be found. 'What a shit start to the month' Silvia thought.
It all happened so fast, far to fast for Silvia's liking. One minute her and Sirius were sat there minding their own business, reflecting on last nights' events and then there were about 6 Aurors surrounding them, 3 with wands to Sirius' head and the other 3 with wands to Silvia' head. Silvia recognised 2 as Kingsley Shacklebolt and Mad-eye Moody.
"You shall remain silent and as of this day you, Sirius Black and Silvia Snape-Black are being sentenced to Azkaban for being loyal followers of he-who-must-not-be-named, the murders of 13 muggles, and selling Lily and James Potter to he-who-must-not-be-named" said Mad-eye. He sounded a bit off, Silvia figured it was because she was a good friend to him.
Confusion and panic flooded the eyes of both Sirius and his wife. "What are you bloody talking about!?" Shouted Silvia.
Her hand grasping her husbands' "We haven't done anything! You should be looking for that fucking traitor Peter Pettigrew!" shouted Sirius.
"Well you would know where he is wouldn't you Mr Black? After all you and your wife did kill him." Kingsley said as-a-matter-of-factly.
"Have you had too much firewhiskey or something? We've never killed anyone in our lives even though I can as sure as hell think of a few that i'd like to" Silvia spat. The Aurors had had enough of the small talk and had casted Silencio on couple.
They were apparated to Azkaban and were met with the Minister, Kingsley had taken off the silencio charm that was cast upon them. "NO, NO! Please! We haven't done anything I swear!" said Silvia, now crying and pleading.
"At least give us a trial first!" said Sirius from behind her.
It was true, every criminal had to have a trial before the ministry could decide what to do with them. But, for some reason in Sirius' and Silvia' case they didn't get that, which was rather odd.
"Mr Black and Mrs Snape-Black I sentence you to life in Azkaban" said the Minister. Shortly after that the couple were thrown into cells next to each other and were officially locked away for life. At least, that's what they thought.
Fate had never been more merciless.
