When Beca and I arrived at Dr. Mitchel's home, I got a phone call from my mom.
"Mom?" I answered as Beca walked inside the door.
"Jesse!" My mother squealed into the phone. "So, how's the life of a married man? Regret it, yet?"
"What?" My eyebrows knit together in confusion as I tried to figure out what I could had possibly said or done to make my mom think that. "Uh, mom, we're not married."
"What? Yes you are!" My mom argued loudly.
"Beca!" I called for her, because Dr. Mitchel wasn't home yet.
"Yeah?" She asked as she walked towards me.
"Tell my mom that we aren't married." Beca lets out a light laugh as she puts her mouth up to the speaker.
"We're married, three years now, can you believe it?" Beca playfully lies into the phone.
"Beca!" I hiss, then she realizes in serious as my mom screams,
"I knew it! I knew it! Now I'm going to beat your ass for not inviting me to the ceremony, Jesse!"
"We're not married." Beca tells my mom, the other line goes silent.
"well, you should be! Oh my God, I have the perfect proposal idea, Jesee! Take me off speaker!" My mom demands.
"We're not planning on it, either." Beca adds, then that's when mom ends the call. "Why the hell would you tell her that we're married? Now she's pissed!"
"Mom got married at eighteen, Bec. She loves the idea of marriage." Then I forgot the last little detail. "and I never told her we were!"
"Okay..." Beca trails off, unconvincingly. I roll my eyes.
"I really love you..." She walks closer to me.
"You're such a dork." And she puts my head in her hands as she attaches our lips. "I can't believe your mom thought we were married." She says when we part.
"I know, it's so stupid." Or is it?
I mean, I love Beca.
A lot.
