"OKAY, SO WHAT DOES THIS KID'S HOMEWORK have to do with finding Deaton?" Cora questioned because Stiles had just stolen Danny's project to show them something.

"Because it's not just homework, okay? It's a project on geomagnetic fields. They flow through the earth. They can even be affected by lunar phases, all right?" the Stilinski boy explained as he pointed to a note on one of the papers. "Now, look at this. This is a note from Harris on Danny's proposal."

Lydia read aloud, "'I strongly advise you to choose another topic. The ideas here, while innovative and thoughtful, border on pseudo-science. Not suitable for class.'"

"Harris wasn't just a sacrifice. He knew something," Scott muttered in realization.

"Now, check this out," the sheriff's son told them as he flipped through the pages to the one he had been looking for. "Allison's dad wasn't the only one with a map, all right? Danny had one, too. Danny marked all the telluric currents, okay? Now, the weird thing about Beacon Hills is that it actually is a beacon. You wouldn't believe how much energy flowing through the earth is around this town."

Scott pointed at something on the map before beginning to draw over it. "Guys, look, they match. All right, there's three places, right? Where they're kidnapped, and then the place where their body was found."

"Look, that's right on the telluric current," Lydia pointed out.

Scott nodded and suggested, "So, maybe where he was sacrificed is somewhere in between."

"Let me see that. You said there's six more bodies to be found. Deaton's one of them. Gotta be somewhere in between, right?" Stiles asked as he began to make more marks on the map with a black marker.

"Stop," Cora ordered, grabbing his hand before he could do anything else and causing all of them to look over at her in confusion. She moved his hand so that it hovered over the spot that showed Beacon Hills First International Bank where two currents overlapped. "He's in the vault. The same vault." Her phone buzzed, and after she checked it, she informed them, "It's Boyd. The plan didn't work. They cut the power."
They all looked over to Scott in shock at that. He thought for a moment before saying. "It's just like he said. Go. I can save Deaton myself."

"What? Scott, what about us?" April questioned, finally joining in on the conversation that she had been silent for the entire time. She was not really in a talking mood.
"Cora can't get there fast enough without you," he ordered before nodding for all of them to get moving so that they could save everyone in time. "Go. We can save both of them."
As he ran out of a building, Stiles turned to the rest of them. "All right, let's go."
They got into the jeep and drove all the way to Derek's apartment building, and April's leg bounced nervously as she sat next to Cora in the back seat. Once they got to their destination, they sprinted for the room that would turn on the power again.

"That's a lot of levers," the blonde girl pointed out as they all stared at the many red levers in front of them, and none of them had any clue as to what each of them did.

The Stilinski boy glanced around at Lydia. "What do we do?"

"We pull them," the strawberry blonde replied shortly, knowing that it probably could not do any harm. "We pull all of them." While the girls pulled the levers, Stiles texted Isaac to let him know what was happening.

They kept pulling until finally, one that Cora pulled turned the lights on, and power was restored to the building. They then did not waste any time in sprinting up the stairs, not taking to somewhat functioning elevators, but by the time they got there, it was too late.

Derek was crying, and Boyd was lying motionless in the water. After taking a few more steps, the blonde girl was able to see the blood that was seeping onto his shirt, and her eyes widened in realization.

Boyd was dead.

《❀》

APRIL COULD NOT SLEEP.

She had had a really really long day, which usually meant that she was ready to crash as soon as she hit the surface of her bed, but that day was different. That day was the six-year-anniversary of the worst day of her life.

It was both her mother's birthday and death day.

So, the blonde girl just layed in her bed and stared up at the very boring ceiling above her as she could not help but think back to that day, the day that she was so excited to give her mother her birthday present and found something completely different. It took her a couple of minutes to realize that she was crying.

She finally decided that she could not lay there anymore, all by herself and left with nothing but the thoughts and memories with her. So, she climbed out of bed, got dressed and left the house. She climbed into her car and just started driving. She did a few laps around the neighborhood before she finally worked up the courage to go to see her best friend.

She was going to knock on the door, but then she decided against it because she did not want to bother Melissa with her troubles. So, she snuck around the back, hopping the fence not-so-gracefully, and began climbing the tree that led to the windows on the back side of the house. She had never done this before surprisingly, so she was absolutely terrified as she climbed.

She finally made it as far as she needed to get, and the branches between her and the roof below the windows did not look very stable at all. So, she decided that her best bet was to jump. She took a deep breath before launching herself onto the roof, and it made a pretty loud noise when she hit it. She paused and waited to see if she had woken anyone up. Fortunately, it did not seem like she had. She crawled awkwardly to the window that she was pretty sure was Scott's and tapped lightly on the glass. She glanced around as she waited for it to open, and when she heard it doing so, she looked back. Her eyes widened when the person that she was expecting was not there, and someone else was.

Isaac freaking Lahey.

"Damn it," she whisper-yelled, groaning as the boy smirked up at her smugly, and she did not want to know what he was thinking at that moment.

"Oh, Romeo," he breathed out with a tired voice. "How romantic of you to come to my window."

She rolled her eyes and shook her head. She just could not catch a break that day, and it was only 2:00 AM. "Of course. I have a three-in-four chance of knocking on any window but yours, and I do it anyway. I am never trusting eeny, meeny, miny, mo again."

"Woah, that's a bit harsh. You're the one that woke me up in the middle of the night. Speaking of, why did you wake me up in the middle of the night?" he questioned with raised eyebrows and a confused expression.

She sighed. "I didn't mean to wake you up. I meant to wake Scott up."

"His window's one over," he informed her, pointing to the left to where the McCall boy's window was. She mentally face palmed when she realized that he was right. He frowned when he scanned her face and saw the puffy eyes and tear streaks. "Have you been crying?"

"No," she lied, wiping the wetness off her cheeks, but it was not convincing at all.

He did not believe her, especially since it was so freaking obvious that she had been crying. Her nose was a little red, and so were her eyes. He questioned, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," she insisted, still trying to make him believe that she was fine so that she could just get in her car and go home and forget about this altogether. Her plan to come see Scott was sounding more stupid the more she thought about it.

"Come on," he urged before trying to guilt her into telling him. "If you're gonna wake me up at two in the morning, then at least tell me what's bothering you."

She hesitated, knowing that she was probably going to regret her next words, but she said them anyway. "You want me to tell you out here when I could roll down the roof at any second?"

"Come in," he told her with a smile. He stepped slightly to the side so that she had enough room to climb inside. Her left foot slipped on the way in, and she yelped quietly when she almost slipped and fell onto the floor. He grabbed her waist to steady her, and she looked at the ground in embarrassment.

His thumb came up to her chin, and sparks shot through her body everywhere he was touching her. He lifted her head up so that she was looking him in the eye. She muttered, "Thanks."

"No problem," he replied, and they stared at each other until he snapped out of it and stepped back, gesturing to the bed in the middle of the room. "Have a seat." She nodded before doing as he said. He carefully sat down next to her as if making too sharp of movements would scare her away. She took a deep breath before the words slipped out of her mouth.

"You remember how I told you about my mom's birthday?" she asked, looking up at him sheepishly as she forced the tears to stay where they were and not start pouring out.

"Oh, yeah," he responded before realization crossed his face. "Is that, uh, is that today?"

She nodded slowly, looking at the wall in front of her so that she didn't have to see the pity in his eyes. "Yep, and it's also...it's also her death day. My mother killed herself six years ago today."

"Oh. Are you okay?" he quizzed. It was a stupid question. He knew that, but he had no idea what to say to her. Most people had no idea what to say when she told them that, not that she had told very many people.

"I don't know," she replied with a shrug. "Ashley thinks that I should stay home today, but I can't just lie there and think about it. I need to do something to take my mind off it, you know?"

He nodded slowly, a little bit cautious about what he was going to say next. He did not want to make it seem like he was comparing his problems to hers. "That's how I feel about Boyd."

"Oh, my God. I am so sorry. Here I am, rambling about my problems when your friend just died," she groaned, face palming herself for being so inconsiderate and not remembering what happened a few hours earlier.

"No, it's fine," he said, waving her off. "Like you said, it takes my mind off of it."

Her eyes met his once again, and she got lost in them for a second. She knew that if she stayed any longer, she would not be able to control her actions, and she really couldn't deal with that on that day. So, as much as she felt drawn to him like a magnet, she had to pull herself away. "I should go."

"Yeah, you probably should before Scott finds you here," he agreed, and a part of her felt left down because that part was hoping that he would stop her and beg her to stay.

She just nodded in response before making her way over to the window that was still open. As she got ready to climb back out, the curly haired boy stopped her. He called, "April?"

"Yeah?" she replied, her head whipping back to see what he was going to say. He looked like he was about to say something, but then he stopped and leaned back on the bed.

"Nothing," he answered, shaking his head as if he decided not to say what he was going to. "Goodnight."

She shot him a small smile. "Goodnight."
