I don't own. This belongs to their respective owners. I make no money of this.
"Who is that," Peter asked.
"That is the Sandman," Uatu answered. "Another villain in your rouge gallery."
"I am not going to lie, that is very impressive," Tony said.
"To a human, maybe," Rocket countered.
"Rocket, shut up. We are stuck in here for an indefinite amount of time," Gamora said. "It would be best to not make everyone hate you."
That kept them quiet. Peter related to the kid. After his Uncle Ben died, May had to work very hard to keep up with his hobbies especially with marching band and the academic decathlon team.
"I am Groot," Groot said.
"Yeah, we know, Twig," Rocket replied.
Once more, Peter found himself relating to the kid. He tried so hard to do something, only for it to get taken away. He fought to Thanos on Titan and died. He fought Thanos at the Avengers Compound and Tony died. Before that, he could have used his powers to stop the robber who went on to kill Uncle Ben. He helped Beck only for him to be a fraud and attempt to kill him and his class. Peter won, but not before one of Beck's men altered a video of him fighting Beck and reviling his identity. No matter what, he always somehow failed.
Seeing Peter deep in thought, MJ grabbed his hand and gave it a squeeze. At least he still had May, MJ, Ned and Happy. He hadn't lost them yet.
"In my defense, Mysterio reviled my identity and now the entire planet hates me," Peter said.
"If we succeed, that will never happen," MJ comforted him.
"That really shows him for scale," Steve said. "How are you going to defeat him."
"Well I could just vacuum him up," Peter quipped before getting serious. "So I could make a cure using a radioactive-" He stopped explaining when he saw everyone staring at him. "What?"
"Nothing," Client said. "It is just we often forget just how smart you teenagers are."
"Tell me about it," Shuri said.
"Someone having a crush on a teacher is nothing new, but getting upset at them getting engaged is a bit creepy," MJ said.
"This is borderline stalkerish," MJ said.
"As much as I relate to the kid with feeling powerless all the time, I agree," Ned replied.
"Not even Flash was this bad," Ned pointed out.
"Agreed," Peter backed Ned. "Mainly just teasing and name calling. He rarely resorted to physical violence."
"He is definitely more bark than bite," MJ agreed.
"No woman should be ashamed that their husband or boyfriend left them," Carol said.
"We know that," Steve said. "She doesn't."
"I am finding it very hard to feel sympathetic for the kid when he is fighting Peter," Tony said.
"I still want to know how the heck he built sand castles like that," Ned said,
"I doubt he is going to tell us," Peter told his best friend.
"Well considering that-," Drax was cut off by Peter Quill.
"Drax, we know he is from a video about a different universe. We really need to teach you about sarcasm and metaphors."
Every guy in the room instinctively covered their groin.
"Hey look, he actually learned to defend himself, unlike you, Steve," Buck said.
"I would have if I could," Steve replied.
"You could have kept your mouth shut and not needed to," Bucky countered.
"You either die the hero or live long enough to become the villain," Scott quoted.
"Is there any movie you haven't seen," Hope asked.
"None that I am aware of," Scott responded.
"And he has made friends with the ones that had bullied him. Except I doubt that they stopped bulling others," T'Challa stated.
"Sadly, he more than likely joined them," Peter responded. "Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely."
"Did you just perfectly quote Lord Acton," Tony asked.
"Yeah, why," Peter replied.
"I am Groot," Groot interrupted their conversation.
"The tree wants to know who Lord Acton is," Rocket translated.
"He is a British historian from the 1800's, he was famous for his previously said quote," Tony answered.
No one said anything, curious as to where this was going. Probably not anywhere good.
"I feel bad for the kid, but he shouldn't have bet with the mob," Steve said.
"I don't-" Rocket was hit by Gamora.
"Rocket, shut up."
Everyone watched with wide eyes. That had escalated very quickly.
Peter was once more relating to the guy. No matter how hard he tried. The public hated him. While some were okay with him before his identity was reviled, after it was reviled, almost everyone hated him.
"His loyalty is admirable, if foolish," T'Challa said.
"I will respect a person who remains loyal to their friends or beliefs, even if I don't agree with them," Thor added.
