SHE MOVED HER THUMB.
I GOT SHOCK AT FIRST and stared at her for a long time. But then, i came to my senses. "Babi, is this for real?! You totally moved your finger?!" I said happily. I'm having mixed emotions right now. I want to scream, jump and cry. I'm so happy with her little movement! "If you can really hear me, move your thumb again!" She then moved her thumb, but slowly.
I panicked and called for a doctor.
Tito, tita, Zoe, Kim and Joshua came into the room with the doctor.
"What happened Janella?!" Tito asked, panicking. "Jane moved her thumb!" His panicking and worried look on their faces faded.
They smiled happily and cried happily.
Six whole months with no signs of improvement, and now, this?
You really are full of surprises, Jane Florence De Leon.
"She looks like she's going to wake up soon." The doctor said. We sighed in relief while Joshua screamed, "WHOOO!!!" out of happiness and excitement.
We are all excited.
"She's recovering now, but just like i said 6 months ago, she may have so--"
"We all know what could possibly happen, but please don't say it again. We're prepared for what's gonna happen next. Let us celebrate her first improvement." Tita Evelyn said.
The doctor agreed and left with the nurse.
"I'll treat you all a wine!" I said. "Just two bottles of wine though." I added, then let out a giggle.
Tito and tita laughed awkwardly.
Well, i felt like tito Arthur and tita Evelyn are treating me a bit colder, 2 months after the incident happened.
I don't take that treatment seriously, 'cause they almost lost their daughter.
Maybe because they think it's on me.
Well anyways, i don't want any drama to happen right now. We're supposed to celebrate Jane's first improvement.
I walked to the nearest market and bought two pricey wines.
When i got back to Jane's hospital room, they are already eating.
Good thing, Joshua bought me some.
"Janella, sakto dating mo. I bought you a food bago tayo mag shot ng wine." He said. I sat in a chair and ate what Joshua gave me.
It's delicious.
"Janella, iha, can you please give us some alone time muna nina Jane? Kahit isang araw lang iha." Tita Evelyn said.
"Evelyn." Tito Arthur said, calling tita's name.
I have no idea on what's happening right now.
Zoe looks shock too.
They never treated me this way.
"What? It's just that, palagi ka na kasing nandito iha. We felt na wala na kaming privacy ng anak ko eh, kaya kung pwede lang sana iha?" I nodded since i understand her.
"Copy tita." I said.
"Don't worry Janella, we're gonna go sa ocean park kung gusto mo, just to libang you." Kim suggested.
"Kim, Joshua and Zoe are free to visit anytime. I'm just prohibiting only Janella." H-huh?
Why me?
What did i even do?
Did i do something wrong?
Ah, right. Maybe they realized that i'm the reason why their daughter is here.
Maybe they are blaming me?
"Tita Evelyn..." Joshua nearly said a thing, but i stopped him.
I don't want to cause any more of a problem. "Okay tita, it's fine with me." No, it's not fine with me.
"Don't worry Janella, isang araw lang naman hinihingi namin ng tito arthur mo." I nodded again while smiling at her fakely.
Whatever makes tita happy, then i'm also happy.
They are my family.
But only time will tell if they're really mad at me and don't want to keep in-touch with me anymore.
While we're eating, they're telling stories to each other, telling jokes to each other then laugh.
I think i was the only one who's uncomfortable right now.
"Ano, ayos ka lang?" Joshua asked, while we're walking towards the trash where we can put our trashes.
"Yeah, why?" I asked back.
"Mukha ka kasing hindi okay. If you're not, alam mo naman na pwede mo akong sabihan, right?" I nodded.
He's really is a great friend.
"I'm getting used to it, Josh. It's like, they're doing that to me for like 2 months now, and i have an idea why."
"Janella, i can feel na you're still blaming yourself for what had happen to Jane. Alam kong kahit sandamakmak na comfort ang ibigay ko sa'yo, alam kong si Jane lang ang makakapag-sabi at makakapag-pagaan ng loob mo na hindi mo kasalanan."
"As much as gusto kita i-comfort at the moment, pwede bang lumipat muna tayo ng spot? Ambaho kasi dito sa basurahan." He added.
I let out a soft chuckle.
Kim, Zoe and Him are the greatest friends of mine.
Years ago, the only friend of mine was only Zoe.
I don't talk to Alex in those five past years.
Speaking of Alex, he always call when he has the chance to.
He's also a great friend of me and Jane.
I'm also thankful that he still treats me like his friend, right after what happened.
Alex is also really worried about Jane.
He almost flew back in here when he recieved the bad news.
But sadly, he didn't had the chance to fly back in the Philippines 'cause of his loads of works in the US, since he's the boss in the US branch of Jane's parents' company.
He also comforted me and told me that it wasn't my fault.
But everytime that i'm convinced that what happened is isn't really my fault, there's always thing that always happens thats making me feel like it is really my fault.
I don't want to blame myself, but how couldn't i?
She was about to fetch me in the airport when that happened.
She's driving faster for me, 'cause she didn't want me to wait for her.
We're now inside, walking towards the elevator to go to Jane's hospital room.
"I don't really like kung paano ka tratuhin nina tito ngayon. Pero kung o-offeran ka ng sampung milyon para layuan anak nya, 'wag ka na mag-isip kung anong pipiliin mo. Huwag ka nang magkaroon ng second thoughts."
"Yeah, i know what to do if that happens." My net worth is greater than ten million, so.
"Gaga, tanggapin mo 'yung sampong milyon. Ano ka dyan?" Gosh, he really knows how to put jokes in time.
"Pero ito seryoso na ah, gusto mo bang kausapin ko sina tito at tita para sa'yo?" Wait, does he know something about me and Jane? Why is he acting like he knows something?
"For what?" I asked.
"Syempre kakausapin ko sina tito at tita para in case na galit nga sila talaga sa'yo for what had happpen at ikaw ang sinisisi nila deep inside, edi mas mas-save ko pa friendship nyo ni Jane kung kakausapin ko silang dalawa ng mahinahon." Okay, my question has already been answered by him.
Is he reading my mind?
"Don't bother. It's fine." I said.
"But gusto mo ba talaga ng ganito kayo forever?"
"Is that even a question?" I frowned.
"Oh 'wag mo ako frownan ng kilay dyan teh." I chuckled.
He has the same vibes of Alex.
I really miss Alex.
We got inside of the elevator.
It's just the two of us inside the elevator right now, that's why we can speak freely and make jokes to each other freely.
"Basta kapag 'di ka na pinapunta ni tito sa hospital room, ako na bahala mag sneak in sa'yo." I once again chuckled.
"You really are supportive, 'noh?" I said while smiling and looking at him.
He smiled at me back then let out a soft chuckle.
"Hala girl!" He shouted. I got shock because he shouted when the elevator doors opened.
I stepped back inside the elevator.
"What?!" I asked.
He stepped outside the elevator, so i followed him confused.
"What is happening?" I said, asking him.
"What if pala hindi ka maalala ni Jane?!" I rolled my eyes over him. "Nonsense. Why wouldn't she?" I said in confidence.
He's full of stupidity and foolishness.
He really is the child of Two Ghosts Squad.
When we got inside the room, Zoe and Kim are not there. Only tito and tita but they're both sleeping.
Joshua and i didn't bother to wake them up.
"J-janella."
"J-jea."
