"Meet Sam Wilson, Captain America," Uatu said.
"Wait, I become Captain America in this universe," Sam asked, in genuine shock.
"You are a good choice," Steve said. To Steve, it was clear that Bucky did not want to be Captain America. Steve didn't doubt he would be a good replacement, but he lacked something, the will to actually be Captain America. Sam on the other hand was young, willing and had the heart to be Captain America. "Perhaps even the best."
"So, I am being interrogated in this," Sam asked.
"Yes," Uatu the watcher said.
"Hey," Peter Quill said excitedly, "I am in this one!"
"Yeah," Rocket said. "Why aren't we in more of these anyway?"
"I only show what I am told to," Uatu the Watcher said. "Something I have said many times."
"So," Sam said. "I'm viewing the start of Steve's career as Captain America."
"Yes," Uatu confirmed.
"Oh, no," Steve said faintly.
"What is it," Bucky asked his best friend.
"Nothing," Steve said a little to quickly.
"I know what this is about," Tony said. "Remember all those speeches Steve had to do. Promoting war bonds and such, I have a feeling that is about."
"You do not need to worry," Uatu the Watcher assured. "That is not in this event."
"That is not how time travel works," Tony, Peter, MJ, Ned, Strange, and Wong said simultaneously.
"How is that not how it works," Scott and Rhodey asked, also simultaneously.
Uatu decided not to wait for them to explain. "Time travel works how you two would expect it to work," he said gesturing to Scott and Rhodey. "It works different from your universe," he told Tony, Peter, Strange, and Wong.
They were all silent. The humans knew all to well about the racism that was very present at the time. While not completely eradicated now, it was definitely less than back then.
"So this is before you got the circular shield," Sam realized.
"Yeah," Steve said. He just hoped it wasn't to early into his time as Captain America. While he may have had a strong face and pretended to be able to handle the war, it was a much different story, especially at first.
Steve shock his head and smiled at the sight. "It seems that even going back to the 1930s, you still get to fly around on a jet pack and wings."
"Can't improve on perfection," Sam said.
"I bet I could prove you wrong," Shuri interjected herself into the conversation.
"Just ignore her," T'Challa said. "You will not win an argument with her, purely because she won't admit defeat."
"I am willing to admit when I am wrong," Shuri countered. "It is just that I am never wrong."
"So you said that time travel works how it shouldn't in this universe," Tony told the Uatu the Watcher. "So him being there is affecting time."
"It will not have any effect," Uatu said.
"But you said that time travel works like Back to the Future logic," Tony said.
"If you watch, you could get to the end faster," Uatu replied, clearly annoyed.
They were once more, silent. The reminder of the racist actions that were present during the war and present through several decades after it. Heck, they were still present today, if it was slowly going away and dying.
"Yeah," Tony said. "My dad told me all about the experiment. You were never meant to be the perfect solider, just a good man. And they found a perfect one."
"Thank you, Tony," Steve said, genuinely touched.
"Wait," Sam said. "Why is it that Miles only spent a few hours, most of which were spent searching for Peter, And I got years?"
"That will be revealed later," Uatu the Watcher said.
"Quick, raise your hand if you hate that response," Tony said. Everyone raised their hands.
Uatu said nothing and allowed the screen to continue.
"I am happy for this Sam, I really am," Sam said. "But how the heck is this not going to affect the timeline?"
"Just watch and you will find out," A very annoyed Uatu replied, deadpan.
Everyone's respect for Sam skyrocketed. He knew what would happened. He knew the march would end in getting beat and jail time, yet he still went through with it.
"Seems that Captain America has finally been found," Sam said with a smile on his face..
"So it would seem," Steve said
"Oh great," Steve said sarcastically. "A welcome back parade."
"Wait a minute," Tony interjected. "You know how to use sarcasm?"
Steve decided not to give him an answer as Pepper lightly hit Tony on the back of his head.
They all smiled at the sight of the reunited friends until:
"So Steve, are you gonna date that person's grandma," Tony teasingly asked.
Pepper elbowed Tony as Steve looked like he wanted to die.
"Seems that not even being separated for damn near 80 plus years is enough to get rid of you," Steve said jokingly. "Although seriously, thanks."
"On behalf of other me, you're welcome" Sam said partly serious, partly jokingly.
"seems that this you is still a hero, if in a different way," T'Challa said.
"Yeah, so it seems," Sam agreed
"What is up with that sign," Steve asked. "How am I even seen as a dictator?"
"At the time of your assassination, the public hated you," Uatu said. "Even as they called for you to be sent to the raft, or executed, you jumped in front of a bullet not meant for you."
The room was silent long after that. Eventually Uatu played the video.
"Gee, thanks Sam," Steve said.
"That is not what this me meant and you know it," Sam said.
