IT WAS A LATE NIGHT and Giselle silently paces back and forth in her room. She's been feeling like she was about to go crazy for the past few days. She's been going to practice early in the morning when the sun is starting to rise and comes back too late in the dark night. Not to mention, her company has been extra strict on her and everything she does. She felt too stressed.
She started to feel an emotion that felt too familiar. She felt her chest tighten and tears sprung from her eyes as she started struggling to breathe. She quickly grabs her number and searches for a specific person to facetime who always calms her nerves down.
She was glad that the person she called finally picked up. "Jude?" She asks, not looking at the screen. "Say something random, anything. You know your accent makes me calm down. It's entertaining you know." She quickly says, starting to feel more anxious as the seconds pass by.
"Hello? Giselle?" It was not Jude. There was no British accent. Giselle looks at her phone and sees that she had accidentally called Pablo.
Pablo was on a lunch break during practice when he had received a facetime call from her. He was confused because out of all people, why would she be calling him?
"Fuck, sorry- I didn't- I mean-" Giselle stutters in between short breaths. She mentally curses herself for stuttering while on a call with him. She waits for him to start making fun of her but nothing happens.
"Giselle, qué pasa?" [whats going on] He asks, his voice full of concern. He can tell through the call that she seemed like she was panicking. He suddenly remembers how anxious she would get before a test or quiz in middle school.
"I feel like I can't breath. Pablo- I can't." Giselle whispers, tugging on her red locks as tears spilled down her cheeks.
Pablo started to feel even more concerned. Despite her room being dark, he could see her crying. So, he said the first thing that came to his mind in hopes to distract her. "If you were a fruit, you'd be a fine-apple."
Giselle furrows up her eyebrows at the sudden pick up lines. She glances at her phone, her vision was blurry from the tears. "What?"
"If you and I were socks, we'd make a great pair."
She felt even more confused, but she felt herself start to calm down. Her crying had finally stopped and Pablo continues. "Are you French? Because Eiffel for you."
Giselle couldn't help but burst into laughter at his pick up lines. She wipes her wet cheeks, still laughing as she looks at him through the camera. Pablo was smiling in satisfaction at knowing he helped her calm down. "Are you feeling better?"
"Yeah, thank you." She softly replies with a small smile on her lips. "Sorry- I didn't mean to disturb you."
"Don't worry 'bout it. I was just having lunch, plus you looked like you were struggling."
She lets out a chuckle. She holds her finger up and points at him through the phone. "Don't mention this to anyone. Not even Somi or Luzia or anyone else."
Pablo raises his hand up and crosses his fingers. "Promise." Before he could hear anything, he hears his name being called meaning that he had to get back to practice. "Gotta go, Gi. But call me if you need anything."
"Yeah, get back to practice. See you."
He ends the call, leaving Giselle alone with her thoughts. Her previous anxious thoughts were now replaced by Pablo. She started to see him in a different light, especially since he helped her instead of making fun of her. She pushes her feelings and thoughts away when realizing how late it was and how early her flight to Spain was.
