RACHEL POV
Rachel Montgomery's boyfriend, Chris Green, carried an intimidating aura, yet those who knew him recognized his inherent kindness. Today, however, Chris returned home exhausted and visibly affected by a challenging day at work. Seeking solace, he crawled onto Rachel, burying his face in her chest, as if finding refuge in her presence.
Concern etched on her face, Rachel bookmarked her book, placing it on the bedside table. She embraced Chris tighter, intermittently kissing the top of his head. ''Bad day?'' she softly inquired, gently running her fingers through his hair. Chris only nodded in response.
''Do you wanna talk about it?'' she asked again, but this time, he shook his head in the negative. A comfortable silence enveloped them, and Rachel continued providing the affection he silently sought.
''Baby,'' she whispered, kissing his forehead, ''go and get changed.'' Initially resistant, Chris eventually rolled off her, changed into comfortable clothes, and returned to bed. Crawling on top of her, he lifted the blanket, creating a cozy cocoon for both of them.
''Princess,'' he softly called out. ''Can you talk, please? I don't care what you say, just talk,'' he pleaded.
Rachel complied, sharing details of her day, the new book she started reading, and plans for tomorrow. After a few minutes, she glanced down to find that Chris had peacefully fallen asleep.
Unable to contain her smile, she kissed his temple, appreciating the solace they found in each other's company.
