They say you have never felt more alive than when you're a teenager - wrong.
You're never more alive when you're doing something you're not supposed to do but the teenager bit was a plus cause you can never be sent to jail.
-and yes, that is what was going on Jisoo Kim's brain as she raced on the school corridors of the Mountbatten Academy. It was already dark out and everyone had gone home except for the caretaker who stayed at the school until late hours checking everything - which is the main reason why Jisoo got caught stealing the school's test papers
And before you judge - no, she wasn't doing it for herself - well...she was but not in the way that you would think.
It started with Lisa Manoban and her crazy ideas - and Jisoo who enables that crazy ideas but we'll get to that later - Jisoo Kim needed to escape the angry caretaker first.
She managed to jump off the back fence and to the woods leading to a park in the nearby neighborhood - where she bumped into none other than Park Chaeyoung - she plays a part in this as well but let's get to that later. (Mostly because Jisoo is too awestruck to move)
"Kim" Chaeyoung snaps her fingers in front of the girl's face
"W-what?" it was so out of character for Mountbatten Academy's resident rebel to stutter but then again this is Chaeyoung Park
"What are you doing at the park at this hour?" Chaeyoung asks, looking around to see if there's anybody else there - there was none.
"Lisa - she made me steal the answer key for tomorrow's test" Jisoo answered without thinking
"What?!"
Jisoo took a step back with how loud that was - maybe she shouldn't have said that to the Student Council's president.
"Uh..." Jisoo was scrambling to find the words to explain but she was coming up empty, "Do you want to have coffee?"
"What?"
"Coffee" Jisoo repeats, "I'm going to explain this - over coffee"
Chaeyoung had just stared at her with a confused expression plastered on her face
"My treat -"
"-okay, let's go. I know a place" The student council president immediately agrees
...
"This test is 30% of all seniors grade and we want everyone in our class to pass"
Chaeyoung was busy chewing her bagel to speak but when she was finished she slammed her hands on the table, "That doesn't mean you should steal the answer key - you could've taken the high road and tutored the class"
"Yeah but the high road is exhausting and this is easier" Jisoo stressed
"Wow- I mean how?- not really how but why?" Chaeyoung was lost for words
"Nevermind that - are you gonna tell this to the headmaster?" Jisoo asked calmly
"I-"
Jisoo waited patiently for Chaeyoung -, "-I won't" she lets out a sigh of relief
"Because Lisa will lose her scholarship" Chaeyoung quickly added
"Yes - that" Jisoo agreed lamely
While Chaeyoung enjoys her croissant - Jisoo's mind goes back to her conversation with Lisa Manoban just a few hours before she decided to steal the answer key
"It's senior year" Lisa says as they sat down the bleachers enjoying their few minutes of peace before going back to class
"It is - any plans for college"
"Yeah, I just need to graduate and I have scholarship waiting for me in New York"
"That's great! I'm happy for you man!" Jisoo was genuinely happy for the Thai - she knew being a scholar in Mountbatten Academy was not exactly an easy feat considering half the kids that go there are spoiled little snots who thinks their privileged life is to die for - which is also the reason why Lisa is so thankful for Jisoo
"Chaeyoung Park is running for valedictorian"
"I know"
"Of course you know, I can't believe Mountbatten Academy's resident rebel is too afraid to ask out her crush"
"Shut up" Jisoo blushed when she sees Chaeyoung walking in their direction along with Jennie Kim - the two seemed to be in a heated argument
"I wonder what's up" Jisoo asks Lisa
"Oh that - Jennie told me that Chaeyoung is worried that only half of the class will graduate this year"
Jisoo didn't bother ask Lisa how she got that information. "Which alumni failed college that made them rethink their whole academic standing?" it was no secret that their school caters to the stupid rich heirs and gives out scholarship to smart less privileged kids
"I have no idea but Chaeyoung is worried what it will look like if she's the student body president and yet half of the senior class isn't graduating"
"That's she's smart and half the people in our class are stupid?" Jisoo joked
"you know..." Lisa starts and Jisoo could recognize that look from a mile away
"Oh no, what are you thinking?" Jisoo asks, "And before you start - I'm in"
yeah, they are the crackhead duo.
And that is why Jisoo ended up stealing the answer key - because she was whipped and she was looking for trouble.
...
And just when she thinks she got away with it - she gets summoned to the headmaster's office with Chaeyoung waiting outside
"You ratted me out?" Jisoo asked incredulously
"No! this place is covered in cctv's" Chaeyoung whisper shouts at her
Before Jisoo could rebut the office door opens and the two of them are sent in
"Miss Kim, Miss Park" Headmaster Choi greets the two
"Now - before we start discussing about anything. I have called your parents and they have agreed to come here so now...who did this?"
Jisoo looks at Chaeyoung for a moment, "Did what?"
"Someone broke in the school yesterday"
"And...?" Jisoo asks
"I was hoping you could tell me since the cctv's caught you running around the hallways"
"...can I talk to Chaeyoung for a bit?" Jisoo didn't wait for the reply and dragged the student council's president outside
"They don't know what I did"
"But they know you did something!"
"I could've fallen asleep or something" Jisoo reasons. As they were whispering with each other in the hallways, Namjoon - a guy from their class walks past them and enters the headmasters office with a smirk
The two watched as the ogre of a boy walked inside the headmaster's office
"I'm fucked aren't I?"
"Yes" Chaeyoung Park answered without hesitation
Once Namjoon had left and they went back it was clear that the headmaster knew what Jisoo did - "Tell me, Miss Kim. Who forced you to steal the answer key to the finals test? - was it Lisa Manoban?"
"What?" Jisoo asked
"Your parents will be here any minute - I'll discuss with them your punishment for stealing the answer key" the headmaster dials something in his telephone, "Have Lisa Manoban come-" he was cut off because Jisoo pressed the switch hook which ended the call
"-What are you bloody doing?" The headmaster asked in rage
"Please the English accent doesn't match anything with you - why do you need to call Lisa Manoban in here?"
"Didn't she forced you into stealing the answer key?"
"She didn't" Jisoo answered and Chaeyoung just stared as the two bantered back and forth
"She did" the headmaster insisted
"wait a minute - your using Lisa as your fall out because you can't have me expelled"
"I can expel you as much as I can with any kid" the headmaster threatened. It was an empty threat and everyone knew that
"Then expel me - why would you rope Lisa in this? She's innocent"
The door opens before the headmaster could respond and Jisoo's parents walked in - the air definitely shifted. "Miss Park, please return to your class - I can handle this" the headmaster dismissed Chaeyoung. The student council president left the room after throwing Jisoo a sympathetic look - it didn't help the situation but it felt nice having your crush look at you like she cares.
"Miss Kim appeared to be in some sort entanglement - but rest assured I will handle it" Headmaster Choi assures the Kim's
Jisoo knew if she didn't say anything Lisa would be the one to be punished and she might not always agree with her parents but she's every bit of spoiled rich brat as anyone in this school is
"He threatened to expel me" Jisoo spoke up and that piqued her parent's interest
"You what?" her dad asks the headmaster
"I-I "
"I fell asleep on the rooftop yesterday and got locked out of school - he thinks I stole the answer key to the final's exam based on the words of some kid in my class - and not only did he threaten to expel me, he told me that my parent's - you guys - have no power over him and I quote 'I can get rid of you with the same speed I can get rid of your parents' end quote" Jisoo smirks evilly as she can see her parent's eyes seething in anger
"We're leaving" is what her father said - which they did, leaving Jisoo alone with the headmaster once again.
"Listen" Jisoo snaps her fingers to get the man's attention, "I can have my parents let you keep your job but you will let me, Lisa and Chaeyoung off the hook - in that way you get to keep your job, most of the seniors pass and you don't have a scandal breaking out in school"
She didn't have to wait for the answer - people like Headmaster Choi always needs a fall out boy and she wasn't about to let Lisa Manoban be that boy - although...
...
Chaeyoung and Jisoo had the same smirk when it was announced that Kim Nam-Joon have been expelled for violating the school's code of conduct and for cheating on the final's exam - of course he didn't go down without a fight but sadly he could not get a single senior student to corroborate his theory of Jisoo Kim and Lisa Manoban masterminding everything
"You have more wit that I expected, Kim" Chaeyoung says before she stands up to deliver her valedictorian speech - Headmaster Choi grumbling on the sidelines.
"They say you're never more alive when you're a teenager - I say you're never more alive when you're doing something you're not supposed to - there's a rhyme to things and with a little bit of charm and wit - we can achieve a lot things-" Chaeyoung Park's eyes settle on Jisoo Kim's and they share a smile, "-we could be immortals just not for long"
A/N: the speech actually makes zero sense - I think? HAHAHAHHAH but hey another update? Just wanna give you guys a little something cause it's hell week in school and I'll be extra busy with my college applications
