𝐎𝐈𝐊𝐀𝐖𝐀 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 put Kohana to bed. She was running around the place for a while before she fell asleep on the couch, laying on his lap. He brought her to the guest bedroom and put her to sleep before making his way down the stairs. He checked the time.

"2:25 am..." he said, "maybe I should go to bed,"

He then heard a small knock on the door. He checked the peep hole and saw who it was. He opened the door.

"(F/n)..." he saw the blood, her arms wrapped and her leg had a pretty big bandaid on it.

"Hey..." she looked at him, "c-can I come in?"

"Of course," he let her in, "what happened at the dinner?"

•| ⊱✿⊰ |•

(F/n) was now sitting on the couch, Oikawa sitting near the end of the couch, giving her space. (F/n) was still shaking from the adrenaline rush from the event and was struggling to keep the cup of tea in her hand from spilling.

“So…” (F/n) looked at Oikawa, who was waiting patiently for her to talk about what had happened, “the dinner didn't exactly go as planned,”

“I assumed so,” Oikawa said, taking a sip of his tea, “it’s okay if you don’t want to talk about this,”

“No,” (F/n) shook her head, “I… need to talk about this…, especially with someone outside of work,”

“Alright,” Oikawa nodded, giving her the floor.

(F/n) took a deep breath in, “this is going to be a lot to take in, so prepare yourself,” (F/n) gave Oikawa a look before she went on to explain everything.

“As you know, there was a dinner/party event regarding the people who we work with collectively and our director. Everything was going fine, but I couldn’t help but feel as if something was wrong. And as I thought that, I saw someone shoot the chandelier and yelled at everyone to get away from the table,” (F/n) took a sip of her tea, “And then we heard shootings and everyone around us were getting shot and were dropping like flies. Kita managed to get me behind a pillar before we made a run for a room, which happened to have Kenma in it. Then the power went out and we decided to split up to find our friends and get out of there,”

(F/n) stopped, memories flashed through her eyes of the horrible sights she saw, causing her breath to stay in her throat. Oikawa noticed and debated on whether to comfort her or let her be. But he decided to bite the bullet and scooted closer to her while putting his hand on her shoulder.

“S-sorry,” (F/n) shook her head and took a deep breath, placing the mug down on the coffee table.

“Take your time,” Oikawa told her before he set his hand down.

"I um…" (F/n) looked at Oikawa, "I almost got killed,"

Oikawa's eyes widened. He knew that death was a risk given her job.

"And if it wasn't for Akaashi, I wouldn't be here," (F/n) looked down.

"But he was there," Oikawa said, "that's all that matters,"

"Yeah but-"

"Hey," Oikawa placed his hand on her hand, which was fidgeting with the edge of her skirt, "yes, something could've gone wrong, but it didn't," Oikawa pushed back the fact that his heart was racing, "you're here, you're alive, you're not badly injured, that's what matters most,"

(F/n) stared at his hand. She felt something deep down inside of her that felt nostalgic. It brought her back to a memory she had in high school. But she pushed it back when she felt unexpected tears roll down her cheeks.

"Hey…" Oikawa put his mug down and gently pulled (F/n) in his arms. (F/n) tensed up but slowly wrapped her arms around him, quietly crying in his chest, not wanting Kohana to wake up. Oikawa stroked her hair, remembering how he used to comfort her when they were in high school, "it's okay (F/n), you're okay,"

He whispered the same phrases he did back then and all the small gestures that helped her calm back down.

Eventually, (F/n) relaxed her gripped and started to pull away. Oikawa retracted his arms but still kept her close. (F/n) wiped her face but kept her gaze down.

"Sorry," she sniffed, "that wasn't like me,"

"Don't apologize," Oikawa told her, "there's nothing wrong with showing a bit of emotion,"

(F/n)'s eyebrows scrunched together, "says you,"

Oikawa scoffed, "what's that supposed to mean?"

(F/n) giggled and looked up at him, "exactly what it implies,"

"Hmph," Oikawa pouted but he felt a smile creep on his face.

(F/n) then rested her forehead against his chest. She knew she regretted the gesture, but she couldn't help but miss this. She missed when she and Oikawa were okay with each other. She missed when they were close, even if it was short lived and out of nowhere. She'd never admit it out loud though. She knew deep down inside her feelings for him had never left. She thought they disappeared ever since that night. But they just happened to resurface when Oikawa came back from Argentina.

And Oikawa would be lying if he said his feelings disappeared too. Truth is, his feelings only grew since that night. As much as he tried to deny them and replace them, they still stayed no matter what. And that's what scared him most. Because in the off-chance that (F/n) found someone before he could ever get to her, he'd be stuck knowing he could never love anyone else, because (F/n) already had his heart.

-

Oikawa looked at the time displayed on the TV box. 3:45 a.m.

"Hey," (F/n) looked up from resting her head on his chest,"

"Hmm?"

"We should probably head to bed," Oikawa scratched the back of his head.

"Shit," (F/n) ran her fingers through her disheveled hair, "I forgot to call Monte about all this,"

Oikawa stared at her for a bit, contemplating what he was going to say.

"W-why don't you just spend the night?" Oikawa suggested, "or, the rest of the morning I guess,"

"Are you sure?" (F/n) asked.

"Yes," Oikawa nodded, "why wake Kohana up?"

(F/n) thought about it, 'she'd definitely be cranky about it,'

(F/n) then nodded, "alright,"

"I'll get you some spare clothes," Oikawa got up from the couch.

"Thank you," (F/n) got up and made her way to the guest room where Kohana was.

•| ⊱✿⊰ |•

Oikawa felt his throat itch from dryness as he stared at the ceiling. He couldn't go to bed right away due to the rush of different feelings he had about the turn of events that had just happened. He felt his cheeks heat up and shook his head.

'I'm so whipped already,' he rolled his eyes at himself and got up from the bed. He walked through the hallway with the intent of getting a drink of water. He walked past the guest room and noticed the door was wide open.

'It couldn't hurt to peek,' he told himself before carefully peeking his head through the door. His heart warmed up at what he saw. (F/n) was sleeping soundly along with Kohana. She had her arms gently around her daughter who had her back pressed up against (F/n)'s stomach. Kohana had her blanket wrapped around her, but (F/n) didn't have one. She relied on Oikawa's old sweater and volleyball shorts for warmth. As long as Kohana was warm, she was happy.

Oikawa couldn't help but smile a bit. He made his way to the closet in the hallway and pulled out another blanket. He quietly made his way into the guest room and unwrapped the blanket from its folding, gently placing it over (F/n). He then walked out of the room before stopping at the doorway.

He sighed, walked back to the two, and debated on what he was about to do.

He slowly leaned in and placed a kiss on Kohana's forehead, which earned a small, subconscious smile from her. He then gently placed a kiss on (F/n)'s forehead before making his way out of the room and down the stairs to complete his original mission of getting some water.

But what Oikawa didn't know was that (F/n)'s lips had formed a small, subtle smile. And no, it wasn't a subconscious action.

•| ⊱✿⊰ |•

(F/n) had woken up from the sound of cooking and the smell of food. She slowly stretched around Kohana, who was still sound asleep. She opened her eyes and blinked a couple of times before her eyes adjusted to the brightness of the room. She felt the blanket around herself, smiling a bit before she shook her head, furrowing her brows at herself for her unconscious reaction.

(F/n) looked down at Kohana, who was now facing her. She had a bit of drool coming out of her mouth as she continued sleeping soundly. (F/n) chuckled quietly and placed a kiss on her forehead before getting up from the bed and making her way to the bathroom to freshen up. She saw the packaged toothbrush and small new toothpaste next to Kohana’s toiletry bag and smiled to herself. She brushed her teeth and washed her face before making her way down the stairs.

She saw Oikawa in the kitchen, cooking up some food. Oikawa felt another presence in the room and turned his head around.

“Hey,” Oikawa greeted her, “thought you weren’t going to get up,”

“Ha ha,” (F/n) laughed sarcastically before taking a seat on one of the high chairs by the kitchen countertop.

“How are you feeling this morning?” Oikawa asked, turning his attention back to the food he was making.

“Better,” (F/n) told him with a smile on her face, “um,”

Oikawa looked at her with a slightly raised eyebrow.

“Thank you,” she looked at him, “for last night,”

He smiled to himself, “Of course,”

(F/n) then heard her phone ding and looked at the kitchen outlet.

“Your phone has been going off since I plugged it in,” he told her.

(F/n) sighed and grabbed it. She saw loads of messages she received from everyone. People asked if she was okay after seeing the news. People asked if she could work today or attend future meetings. People asked if she needed time off to heal both physically and mentally from yesterday’s traumatic events. But she ignored all those messages and went straight to her contacts to call someone.

Ring Ring Ring.

“Hello?” a small, timid voice answered.

“Hey,” (F/n) greeted gently, “how are you?”

“Okay,” the voice said.

“That’s good,” (F/n) said, resting her arm on the counter, “how is he?”

“Fine,” the voice answered, “Shirabu said he lost a lot of blood,”

“Yeah,” (F/n) remembered the sight she saw, “I’m glad we found him in time,”

“Me too,” the voice sighed, “I owe you one,”

“No you don’t,” (F/n) chuckled, “would’ve done it for free in a heartbeat,”

“...” the line was quiet before (F/n) heard soft sniffles, “thank you,”

“Don’t cry Kenma,” (F/n) cooed, “you’re okay,”

“He almost died (F/n),” Kenma said, struggling to maintain his breathing.

“But he didn’t,” (F/n) reassured him, “we found him and got him help as soon as possible. He’s alive, he’s breathing, and soon he’ll be testing your patience once he’s recovered, that’s all that matters,”

(F/n) heard a small giggle from him, “I guess you’re right,”

“Of course I am,” (F/n) smiled, “both of you take a break from work okay? The rest of us can handle it for the next few weeks,”

“Okay,” Kenma looked at Kuroo, who was still sleeping, “you should take a break too, you know,”

“I know,” (F/n) said before ending the call.

Oikawa finished cooking and served (F/n) a plate of food.

“Here,” Oikawa gave the plate to her.

“Thanks,” (F/n) thanked him and started digging in, “where’s your plate?”

“Getting it right now,” Oikawa served himself a plate and started eating while cleaning the kitchen up.

(F/n) then got another call. She rolled her eyes at the contact name and looked at Oikawa.

“Hello?” (F/n) greeted, and Oikawa stopped his movements to make no noise.

“So you’re alive,” the voice said, which made (F/n) her eyes. She placed her finger over her lips, gesturing to Oikawa to stay silent while she put the phone on speaker mode.

“Yeah?” (F/n) replied, “what about it?”

“We have more work for you,” the voice said.

“Great,” (F/n) said sarcastically while she rested her head against the counter.

“Think you can come to the warehouse?” the voice asked.

“I mean, I don’t know,” (F/n) furrowed her eyebrow, “not like I was injured or even slightly traumatized by the turn of events that happened yesterday,”

“...” the line went silent before rustling was heard, “we have some insight about Oikawa’s case,”

This caused both adults to look at each before staring at the phone.

“What kind of insight?” (F/n) asked.

“Well,” the voice said, “the person responsible for the ‘turn of events’ yesterday might be the lead of who’s trying to hurt Oikawa."

This made Oikawa’s eyes widen.

(F/n) sighed, “we’ll be there tomorrow,”

•| ⊱✿⊰ |•

“Has Hajime called at all?” (F/n) asked Oikawa.

“He texted this morning,” Oikawa said, finishing his breakfast, despite the lack of appetite after knowing that his case is connected to the events that almost got (F/n) and her friends killed, “he’ll be gone for the rest of the week,”

“I see,” (F/n) knew Oikawa was feeling uneasy now. She sighed and thought about what she was going to say. But before she said anything, the two adults heard the small voice of Kohana.

“Mm good morning,” Kohana said, yawning. She had her blanket wrapped around her but was dragged to the floor.

“Well well well,” Oikawa greeted, “look who finally decided to wake up,”

“Shush mean man,” Kohana pouted angrily and walked to (F/n).

“Good morning princess,” (F/n) picked her daughter up and started kissing her all over her face, making the toddler giggle.

“Mommy stoppp,” Kohana said in between giggles.

“Hmm,” (F/n) smiled, “how did you sleep?”

“Good,” Kohana wrapped her arms around (F/n).

“Do you want some breakfast?” (F/n) asked.

“Mhm,”

“Good,” (F/n) said, “Oikawa’s making you some right now,”

“He can cook?” Kohana asked.

Oikawa playfully scoffed, “of course I can cook,”

“Hmm,” Kohana squinted her eyes at him, “it better taste good,”

“(F/nnn),” Oikawa whined, “she’s adding so much pressure, it’s making me nervous,”

“Deal with it,” (F/n) said, earning a giggle from Kohana.

“Hmph,” Oikawa pouted and continued making her breakfast with the added pressure.

While the two were waiting, Kohana noticed something about (F/n)’s clothing.

“Mom?” Kohana raised her eyebrow, “are those Oikawa’s clothes?”

Oikawa blushed at Kohana’s question. He was thankful he was turned around.

“Yes, they are,” (F/n) nodded, “he let me borrow them for the night,”

“Hmm,” Kohana thought about something, “they’re very big on you,"

“Well,” (F/n) looked at Oikawa, “he’s a lot bigger than me, so it makes sense,”

“Yeah,” Kohana said before turning to look at Oikawa, “are you done with my food yet?”

“Yes yes,” Oikawa turned around with the plate of food, “so impatient,”

“I know where she gets it from,” (F/n) said before turning Kohana around in her lap so she could eat the breakfast.

“Hope it’s up to your sophisticated taste,” Oikawa told the small girl.

“It better be,” Kohana said before she dug in, Oikawa waiting patiently to hear her thoughts. After a couple of chews, Oikawa heard the words he wanted to hear.

“I guess you’re not a bad cook,”

A man walks into an abandoned building. He is greeted with two silhouettes; one of a tall male and another of a female. He kept his distance but made sure the light from outside was shining on him.

“Hurry up,” the tall male said, “we don’t have all day,”

“I have observed and gathered new information about the ‘family,’” the man says.

“What about?” the tall male asks.

“It seems as if the two parents are getting closer now,” the man informs.

“So your plan is working,” the tall male said to the female.

“I knew it would work,” the female said, “he’s still in love with her,”

“And the kid?” the tall male asks.

“Has no clue he’s the father,” the man explained.

“I see,” the taller male smiles, “and how can we be sure you’re telling the truth?”

“You don’t,” the male says, “you just have to trust me,” the male says with a smile.
