Adrian Parker
As Grace went away, I felt a part of my heart empty. I really wanted her to stay but alas.
As she left the house everything went silent. She literally made whole surrounding cheerful with her presence.
Everyone was and are still talking about her. She made everyone fall in love with her. Her parents must be so lucky to have her as their daughter. She really reminds me of my Ev. She is of same age as Ev.
In her presence, I felt lively and happy. The same happiness which I never felt after Ev's unfortunate incident.
Sighing I turned around to leave when my eyes fell on Sofia who was looking at the entrance with sorrowful eyes.
"Sofia? What happened? Why are you looking upset?" I asked taking her in my arms.
"I don't wanted her to go. I wanted her to stay here with me, atleast for today" Sofia chirped sadly.
"Who?" I asked rubbing her arms in soothing manner.
"Grace" Sofia said and I stopped my action. Breaking the hug I looked in her eyes. She looked really upset.
"Sofia *sighing* I too wanted her to stay but she had to leave. Her family must be waiting for her" I said trying to comfort her.
She hummed still looking upset with her departure.
"Oh comeon, don't be upset. Come with me. Your favorite dessert is waiting for you" I said trying to cheer her up and dragged her towards the food corner.
Time skip.
As the party came to an end, all the guests went to their home. Now we all Parkers were sitting and talking with each other.
Through George looked angry for some reason and my dad, he looked deep in his thoughts.
When we were talking a man entered inside. It's John, our family doctor's assistant. Seeing him George instantly got up from his seat and went to him.
"I told you to hurry up, remember? But you're late" George said greeting his teeth in anger.
"Sorry sir, I was stuck in traffic" John said but George still looked angry.
Why John is here? And also why George is angry?
"Papers?" George asked angrily to which John gave him a envelope.
What's that?
We all got up from our seats and went towards him.
"George? What's in that paper and why are looking angry?" George's wife Emily asked him to which he shook his head and gestured John to leave.
Celia came forward and stands beside George. They both nodded at each other and George finally teared the envelope. Their was a paper inside.
As soon as George read the insides of paper, he freezed.
"George?" We all called him but he looked numb.
Taking the chance, Celia snatched the paper from George's hand and she looked start reading the paper and unlike George she didn't looked numb instead she looked happy.
"Celia - George, what's wrong with you guys? What is written in this paper?" My another brother Asher asked them but they looked like they were in different world.
Emily shook them both to which they looked at each other with shock and then others. And oh my, my, my God. George was crying. GEORGE WAS CRYING. GEORGE. UNBELIEVABLE.
"George what happened? Now you're scaring me" Emily asked with crooked voice. She really looked scared.
To be honest we all are scared. George is crying, this is actually a big thing.
George again looked at Celia and then the paper which was in her hand. Later his eyes went towards me and his eyes welled up more.
"Oh my God" Saying so George hugged Emily tightly.
"George" Emily cried seeing her husband vulnerable after so many years.
"Dad, what happened? Please tell you. You're scaring us" His son said but George kept on crying.
Later breaking the hug, he gestured Celia to break the news to us.
Celia with a teary face forward the paper towards me.
With heavy heart, I held the paper and start reading it.
DNA REPORTS.
Huh!
"DNA reports?" I said loudly and everyone looked at me confusingly.
I again start reading and but what caught my attention was..
Grace Adams has the matching DNA with Adrian Parker and Sofia Parker with 99.99% and 99.97% with each respectively.
(Ps: I don't know what else to write in a DNA report. Sorry)
I frowned reading it and read it again only to get shocked.
I looked at Celia who nodded and gave me a small smile and George too nodded at me.
Shocked I re-read for the confirmation. This is not true. This can't be true. What the hell.
I again and again read the document to confirm that I'm not hallucinating.
"Adrian, at least you say something. Why is George crying and why are you looking shocked?" Emily asked trying to calm George down.
"Let me see" Saying so Ryan snatched the document from me. After a minute I heard him gasp in shock.
I was still trying to digest the news. Grace is my daughter. My? How can she be my daughter?
I was trying to answer my own questions when I heard George speaking.
"Our Ev is alive" George said and I looked at him with numb face.
"How?" I whispered not knowing what else to say.
"George?" Emily looked at him in shock.
"Our Ev is alive. Grace Adams is Evelyn Parker. Our Ev. She isn't actually Grace. She is our Ev" Celia said and Liam went towards her.
"What the hell are you saying Celia? Don't you know what Ev isn't alive. Victoria killed her when she was just three" Liam yelled at her.
"No Liam, no. Victoria never killed Ev. She just fooled everyone so that we stop searching for Ev. Your baby sister is alive. Grace is Ev. Look at these DNA reports. Grace DNA has been matched with both your parents" Celia said but Liam looked beyond shocked.
Though I can't blame him. Even I'm shocked. All these years I thought I lost my daughter but no, she was alive. In fact she was here today, on my birthday, with me.
"That's not true" Liam whispered looking shocked with the new found information.
"Celia is right. Grace is our Ev" I heard my dad's firm voice.
We all turned towards him who was looking at nothing particular.
"Dad you knew about Grace?" George asked shockingly to which dad shook his head.
"No but when I saw her today, I knew she isn't some random girl. I knew she is someone important to us, to our family. I was planning to get her information but George himself made that job easy for me" Dad said and I felt more shocked.
My eyes went towards Sofia. She was crying looking at the papers in Ryan's hands. She looked like she was having a debate in her mind.
"Sofia" I immediately went towards her and took her in my arms.
As she hugged me she started crying loudly. She was pouring all her hurt and pain in my arms. Usually I hate seeing tears in her eyes but today I couldn't stopped her. I knew this was needed. She needed to cry. She needed to pour her emotions out.
"Ad-Adrian *hiccuping* my..our daughter..sh-she is alive. She is alive. I-i was ri-right. My daughter n-never left me. My-my Ev.. My.. Aah *gasping for air* my" She couldn't compete her sentence and starts breathing heavily.
"Sofia. Sofia. Get her some water" I yelled and made her sit in the nearest couch. Emily gave me a glass of water.
I made her drink some water and wiped her tears.
"Ad-Adrian my daughter. I want her" Saying so Sofia again started crying. Emily and Kriya sat beside her and start consoling her but they were also crying.
"I can't believe this. All these years Ev was in NewYork but we had no idea" Asher said shockingly.
"Exactly. We were searching her everywhere but she was in NewYork only" Emily said crying.
"No Emily. Ev wasn't living in NewYork before. She is living in NewYork from past two months only. Before NewYork, she was living in Srilanka. She got the scholarship in my school and that's why she started living here" George sighed looking away.
"Look at the game of destiny. Our Ev was away from us for so many years. And when she was finally here, with us, we let her go" My mom cried looking at us.
"Destiny played enough games with us, now no more" I said looking at the old pic of my Ev.
