{August 28, three days until Mer's birthday. Drama, drama, drama!}

Mr. Gregory called a meeting for all of the kitchen staff, and I'm just sitting here like, I hope I'm not fired.
"As you all know, your jobs here during the summer were not permanent. As you also know, only four of you will be offered permanent employment at the Springside Country club. And those four are," I crossed my fingers that one of them would be me. "Cameron Dallas, Jack Gilinsky, Shawn Mendes and Meredith Skye."

Mr. Gregory smiled at us before leaving. So did everyone else.
Shawn, Cam and I had a little group hug type of thing. But Jack just went back to work.
"Well doesn't he seem bitter today?" I chuckled.
"Yeah, because he misses you." Cam said quietly.
"What?" I looked Cam straight in the eyes.
"Don't deny it Mer, you guys were perfect for each other and after you two stopped talking or whatever happened he's just been all sulky and annoying. Plus if he find out that you're dating Johnson he'll go nuts." Cam explained.
"Well shit, I'm sorry that he acts like a little bitch when I lose my temper. If he wants to be friends with me he's just gonna have to accept the fact that I'm not perfect. And plus me dating Johnson shouldn't have anything to do with our friendship, which obviously is non existent." I huffed.
"Okay Mer, think what you want but I'm telling you know it's gonna end badly." He said before walking away.
I just looked at Shawn like what the hell. He shrugged. I just rolled my eyes and went into the dining room.
It looks like there's a new hostess, and she's pretty oh dear lord.
Jack had already started to make his move on her. I won't let that happen, so I made my way over there.
"Back off Gilinsky, I got this." I snickered. He rolled his eyes and went to take more orders.
"Don't waste your time with him, he's not worth it. Take it from me," I laughed. "I'm Meredith by the way."
"Adelaide, but you can call me Addie." She smiled.
"Oh my gosh, I love your name. But uh I gotta get back to work. We should hang out sometime. Does later today sound good?" I asked hopefully.
"Absolutely! Meet me outside after work." She said smiling.
"Alrighty, see you then!" I smiled and went back to work.
She sems really nice, I just hope Jack doesn't get to her. She doesn't need that in her life.

"Hey Addie." I smiled as I walked into the lobby.
"Hi Meredith, uh is it alright if I call you Mer?" She asked.
"Oh yeah, everyone calls me that," I nodded. "So do you want to come back to my place? I can provide food and netflix."
"Sounds fantastic." She smiled and we started walking towards my apartment, I've started walking to work. It's been a lot nicer out lately so I decided eh why not?
When we got there, Cam and Jack were checking their mail box. Coincidently so was Jack J. Oh no. Gilinsky doesn't know I'm dating Johnson. Only Shawn and Cam know, and this isn't how he needed to find out.
"Hey babe." Johnson said before coming over to me and kissing my cheek.
"Hii." I said softly. I looked over at Cam and Gilinsky, both of them just staring at me.
"Whatever." Gilinsky mumbled before going in the elevator back to his apartment.
No 'I'm happy for you Meredith?' Fucking nothing. Okay then. Okay.
"Asshole." I mumbled. I took Addie's arm and we took the stairs, leaving Johnson and Cam without another word.
"Mer, is there something going on between you guys? And that's why you look like you're about to cry." She asked me as I sat down on the stairs.
"I just don't know anymore, I know I'm in a relationship and I should be happy with him, but there's something preventing me to do that. And his name is Jack motherfucking Gilinsky." I put my head in my hands.
"Mer, if he's the one you want to be with, then why aren't you?" She lifted my head up.
"I don't know Addie, I just don't know." I sighed.
"Well, first thing's first, you probably should be single." She giggled.
"But Johnson and I literally have been dating for less than a month though." I said, somewhat disappointed.
"Meredith, look. I'm gonna ask you something and you have to answer me as honest as you can. Alright?" I nodded. "Do you really like Johnson or is this just a rebound thing?"
I thought about it for a few minutes.
"If I'm completely honest, yes. He's just a rebound thing, and I don't have the heart to break up with him." I admitted.
"Well I do, let's go." She dragged me all the way to Johnson's apartment.

Oh no, oh no, oh no.
Once I got back to my apartment Jack was pacing around, for one reason and one reason only.
"Jack, what's wrong?" I asked.
"I can't believe her, she's going out with my best friend. This isn't how I wanted things to be Cam." He fumed
"Why are you making such a big deal out of this anyways? I thought you didn't like her." I sat on the couch in front of him.
"It's complicated, you wouldn't get it." He mumbled.
"Try me." I smirked.
"Fine," He groaned before sitting down. "I don't like her Cam, I love her."
"What!?!" I shouted.
"See, I knew you wouldn't get it." He started to get up.
"No, come back. What on earth makes you think that you love this girl." I wanted to see if he actually means it. He came back and sat beside me.
"She wasn't supposed to mean this much to me, I was never supposed to fall this hard. But I did and that's the truth. But I didn't just fall in love with her, I fell in love with all the little things she didn't know she was doing. Like how she crosses her eyes when she's annoyed or when she's super concentrated she'll stick her tongue out a little bit." He gushed.
"Bro, if that's how you feel you need to tell her." I said to him.
"I was going to, on her birthday. But I can't because of Johnson. He just fucked it all up. But that's just tough love I guess." He sighed.

"It's okay Mer, I know you like someone else? Did he really just say that to me as we broke up? Lol okay, thanks for making it easier for me bud." Addie and I laughed.
She literally just broke Johnson and I up, just so Gilinsky and I could be together. {lol bye it hurt my heart to keep mer and johnson together}
What a trooper.
"At least you guys are still friends, I remember one time me and this guy had dated for six months, and I realized I just didn't like him that way anymore. So I broke up with him, and he threw a fit. In the middle of a park. I just kinda awkwardly walked away." She laughed at the memory.
"You have the kind of bravery I need in my life." We both laughed and entered my apartment. I threw my bag on the floor and went straight to the kitchen.
"This is such a nice apartment, I wish I had the money to move into my own place." She said before getting up and sitting on the counter. Then something dawned on me.
"You wanna be roommates? My room is big enough for two." Even though we just met today, I feel like we can become great friends.
"Seriously, you'd let me?" She asked with her eyes wide.
"Of course, we can move everything in tomorrow. I believe we share the day off?" I smiled.
"I believe you're right, it's a plan." She giggled.
"Sounds like a plan."
