It did not take Rinji no time at all to pack up His bag for the two day visit. He placed his bag on his back and made his way out of his bedroom, and shut the door behind him... His uncle was actually in the living room sitting down on the couch catching up on A little bit of TV.. making a appearance as the number one hero at the sports festival really drained it out of him.. He noticed that his nephew had made his way out into the living room.. "Oh.. yeah I almost forgot you're going up to see your grandparents... here let me drive you.." All Might said as he started to get up..
Rinji quickly put his hand up to stop his uncle from moving.. " it's OK uncle.. I was planning on walking and taking the train I have a lot on my mind, and I kind of want to think it out on my own... if you don't mind?" All Might slowly set back down, and look at his nephew.. "Very well then I understand I have those moments too..."
"Thanks.."
"You remember how to get there?"
"Of course, anyway Pa is going to meet me at the train station when I get to town... Then he's going to take me to their house.."
"Ok.. you know me I just wanted to make sure, but then again you're really good with directions so..." All Might looked up to look at the clock... "Yeah if you leave now you'll be pretty good on time of course you'll be getting there a little late but at least you'll have the rest of these two days to spend time with them..."
"Yeah... so see you later."
"See ya kid!"
Rinji left the apartment and made his way downstairs... All Might continue to set on the couch and thought for a moment... This past few years he hasn't been a part of his nephews life and it just seems just yesterday he was a little kid just discovering his Quirks... To him he was growing up so fast... and the littlest things that he does remind him of his father.. He was proud of his nephew on how hard that he worked to get where he was.. He also found it interesting that he was able to figure out a plan on how to make it seem like he had his uncle's Quirk... Yeah even though it causes a little bit of damage to his body he's still impressed that he was able to figure something out, and also used it to his advantage during the sports festival and perhaps got a few more offers with different heroes... But they would not know that for sure they would have to wait until they came back to school and see all the offers that everyone received...
Rinji continued walking towards the train station, and he quickly put on his headphones to listen to a little bit of music as the sun started to set... He wandered back to the sports festival and started thinking about The battle with Bakugo... Well he wouldn't call it a battle they never did Fight... but he wondered who would actually win between the two of them?
He only had a few reasons why he did not face him today... He knew that his opponent would go beyond his limit and his fighting style would probably not be the best against Bakugo... but if he was able to use his actual abilities, maybe he would've had a chance against him.. He would've been able to go past his limit just like his opponent and there would've been some times during the fight he would be able to do some defense... But then... Rinji wondered if it was the best idea to hide his true Quirks? But... he did have another reason why he made it look like he had his uncle's Quirk... because ever since that he was little when people found out that he was his uncle they tried to compare the two, and he always felt like in a way they expected more from him because he was the nephew of the number one hero... And honestly he was afraid to let everyone down especially his uncle... He wanted to be just like his uncle in so many ways.
He wanted people to see him and know that everything was going to be all right. He wanted people to trust him and believe in him just like his uncle.. because he saw the relief on peoples faces once they saw All Might... and he wanted to do that for other people too he wanted to carry the burden on his shoulders as well... He missed having his uncle in his life it was like losing another part of his father.... But when he finally reunited with his uncle after being excepted to UA He felt closer to his father and he never realized how much he miss the both of them...
Rinji finally looked up not realizing how long he was walking but he had finally made it to the train station. He was early of course like always, so he just waited until it was time for his train... finally a little bit of relief appeared on his face once his train made it to the station and he got on... since it was a little bit of a odd time there was not a lot of people on the train as there usually was... He was able to get a seat and kind of rested as the train started to head out.
Sometime later....
Rinji slowly got up and slightly started to stretch.. he then grabbed onto one of the handles as he continued on standing The train was getting close to a stop so he wanted to prepare himself to get off the train as soon as possible... it has been forever since he headband at the Akagi household... since it was already dark Rinji looked outside and saw a few lights coming from the small town that rested below the mountain...
From the way it looks it looks like the town was still the same still small, but pretty bright at night. Finally the train made it to the station slowing down and came to a complete stop. When the doors opened he was greeted with a wonderful smell... It smelled like the countryside and not the city... even though he lived in a big city in America he was grateful that him and his mom lived kind of towards the end in away... he was really glad that they did not live right in the middle... he always enjoyed living out in the countryside... cities were just too loud and cramp...
Rinji made his way off the train and started to walk towards the entrance of the train station hoping to spot out his grandpa... it did not take him no time at all when he exited the building.. Rinji's grandpa was actually waiting at one of the first parking spots at the entrance leaned up on his old blue truck..
Rojā Akagi had a big huge smile on his face once he saw his grandson leave the building and come his way... To Rinji it seems like his grandpa has an aged a bit.. he quickly made his way it is grandpa gave him a huge hug.. "Hey Pa... you actually got here early!" When he was hugging his grandpa he noticed the smell that he could not believe that he missed it was not strong but it was chewing tobacco.. he remembered that his grandpa always carried a bag with him...
"Of course I did I knew that you would most likely be on time and I never wanted to keep you waiting"
Pa was usually the time he was never in a rush to get anywhere but he was usually on time for just a minute or two late..
" I can't wait to have all of my grandkids under one roof... really sad that your mother couldn't join, but everyone understands she's hard at work."
"Yeah she said hopefully she will be able to visit she's just been really busy lately working on projects.."
"That's ok.. Now how about we head home then." Pa said with his Usual warm smile..
The two of them hopped into the truck and made their way up the mountain... Both of them were quiet on the ride and then suddenly there was a noise coming from Rinji's stomach it was growling... Pa started to laugh... "It looks like my grandson is hungry like always.."
"Yeah I did not eat anything for supper..."
"Don't worry your grandma made a little something for you to eat before you go to bed..."
Rinji then started to imagine what she could've possibly cooked, he truly loved her cooking... he could practically smell it already as they continued making their way up the mountain...
A few moments later The truck passed under a sign that has the family name on top of it.. he looked out in front of him to be greeted with a big house a old Japanese style house... The home was actually built by his grandpa years ago before any of his aunts or uncles were born...
Instead of parking right out front Pa put the vehicle to the side of the house most likely making room for other people to come in later...
Rinji and his grandpa made their way out of the truck and started to head up to the house... before they could get to the porch Rinji's grandma; Kimiko, made her way out slipping on her shoes to greet her grandson. "Rinji!" She said excitedly as she hugged him. "Hey Mimi!" When he was hugging his grandma like his grandpa she had a unique smell to her... it was a sweet smell but he could also tell that she had been cooking... it could've been that his senses were heightened because he was hungry...
Because of this his tummy started to growl once more... "Oh! Good thing I cooked you something... come on let's go inside and stop standing here in the cold..." She said slightly pushing him to come inside...
The three of them took off their shoes at the entrance and he noticed a few other pairs of shoes... Mimi notice this... "Kurisuti, Kels, and Hinotama are here.."
He then remembered that his aunt and her daughter Kels after moving back to Japan they decided to move in with Pa and Mimi... but he wondered why his cousin Hinotama was here as well?..
"Don't worry there's plenty of food for you and the others have already went to bed.." Mimi added as she started to walk towards the kitchen and he followed her... The three of them entered the kitchen and he was greeted with a big serving of rice and steak.. Pa went over and got him a cup of coffee.. Mimi quickly fixed a bowl for her grandson and placed it on the counter so he could sit on the Stool and eat. She started to wash a few of the dishes as he started to dig in with his chopsticks... "Rinji! Slow down it's not going anywhere." She said as she turned to him and this made Pa chuckle as he leaned up against the counter close to his wife... at certain times they would make conversation trying to catch up with each other and even talked about the sports festival.. and those few other times he was scarfing the food down like he hasn't ate in days...
"I'm still excited that two of our grandbabies were able to be in the finals... Rinji getting third place in the first year's category and Kels getting first place in second year's category..." Mimi said excitedly...
"Yeah every chance I got I watched her match is on my phone.. sadly ever since I've been at UA I haven't seen her... I was really hoping that we would be in the same grade but after finding that she actually skipped a grade..." Kels is actually a few days older than her cousin Rinji but when she was in America she worked extremely hard and when she got accepted to UA her scoring was extremely high and this allowed her to skip a grade.
"Yeah it will probably be difficult for you guys to see each other since you're in different grades now. But of course I'm proud of all of my grandchildren everyone is doing amazing and trying their best..." Pa Said with a smile as he went to sit down close to his grandson in the other stool...
"So what's everybody else up to?" Rinji asked as he placed his chopsticks down on his bowl..
Well... let's see... Kaen is in his second year at Ketsubutsu Academy High.. his grades are not super great but his hero studies from what I've heard are doing pretty well.." Pa said... "Ken it's been working extremely hard and in his second year of Shiketsu High... he's still learning new things about his Quirk but I've been helping him from time to time since it's similar to mine now..." Mimi added
"Oh yeah I heard that it awakened A while back... from what I heard it's really strong!"
Mimi gently grabbed his bowl to clean it as she turned back to the dishes.. "Hinotama has been coming and going he mainly works at night being a night hero so his sleeping schedule is kind of messed up for right now."
"Yes.. apparently he doesn't have any time cooking cleaning or even doing his own laundry so he comes here..." Pa added..
" and the twins have been coming over quite a bit, since their mom and dad are pretty busy with both of their jobs.. but we haven't seen them in a few days they're supposed to be here tomorrow.."
Pa looked up at the clock.. "Oh! Look how late it's getting I suggest we all get some sleep.."
They agreed and Mimi showed Rinji to his old room and gave him a good night kiss on the forehead. He finally went to bed and he was out like a light...
The next morning....
Slowly he woke up, it was pretty much the best night sleep he's gotten in a while... like always he started to stretch as he woke up... He grabbed his phone to check out what time it was and it was still morning.. Since he was on his phone he decided to send a quick text.. Too Momo.. He wanted to make sure that she was still OK and honestly he just wanted to talk to her for some reason...
After sending the text message he figured she was probably still asleep or busy so he did not expect her to reply right away. So he made his way downstairs and he could hear quite a bit of noise... It smelt like breakfast was cooking but instead of going into the kitchen he went to the dining area where some of the noise was coming from ... he was greeted with several members of his family.. Everyone was excited to see him.
Three of his uncles were at the table. Oldest to youngest Hotaru, his wife Miyoko, Tatsuhiro, his wife Atsuko, and Isamu and his wife Kazue.. All of them were putting plates of food on the table. The twins heard that their cousin was finally awake and they came running in. Han'na and Makaira quickly surrounded their older cousin Rinji grabbing both of his hands and jumping.. "YAY WE CAN EAT! WE CAN EAT!" Apparently they told the twins that they could not eat until everybody was up and it seemed like Rinji was the last one..
It was a little hectic especially with almost everyone there.. he decided to see if he needed to help with anything in the kitchen.. when he made his way into the kitchen he saw Tamami and Hinotama in the kitchen and it look like Hinotama was fixing to get a homemade biscuit. Tamami quickly saw this and reacted hitting him on the hand with a wooden spoon making him jump and Yell out! "Ouch!"
She grab the pan of biscuits and make sure that they were a little ways away from her cousin.. "What was that for!?" "You're not supposed to eat right now we're waiting for everyone!"
"Come on he's up now!" Hinotama said pointing to Rinji..
"Well hello to you too, Hino..." Rinji said crossing his arms..
"Yeah yeah yeah..." Hinotama made his way into the dining room.. Rinji went up to Tamami... "Do you need any help?"
"Thank you just take these pans of biscuits into the dining Room please." She said with a smile and she handed two pans of biscuits to him.. " and don't worry we have more than two pans so there's going to be plenty for everyone to have seconds or even thirds.."
"Ok... Hey so did you find any students that you're going to offer any work studies or internships?"
"Oh.. Yes I did see a few students that caught my eye, I can do probably three students this year sorry but you didn't make it on my list?"
"What?! Are you serious I didn't even make your list and I'm your cousin..."
"That's one of the reasons why I did not pick you it wouldn't be fair for the others, and I know you would get a few offers.. anyway the three students I Picked are all three females.. you know me just trying to help fellow future females heroes out."
"Yeah you have a good point.. do I know any of them?"
"Well somebody's nosy I'm not going to tell you..."
"Ok..." he said defeated as he turned around to take the pans to the dining room.. Mimi was going around filling up the people that had coffee cups coffee and she had reached her husband and she placed her hand on his shoulder... everyone else made their way into the dining room and took their seats... "Wait where are Kaen, and Ken?" Kels came up behind Rinji... "Don't worry they're actually at school right now but they only have half a day unlike you, and me since we go to UA high we have these days off.."
"Oh I forgot.."
The two finally sit down at the table with the family as everyone started to pass around food after food and prepared everything to be ready to eat.. the Akagi family it's just your usual average big family but the ones that marry into the family have pointed out that the family members are pretty much a bottomless pit When it comes to food.. it seems that they're constantly eating but they believe that this is where they're Fire based Quirks come into play... It's like they're fueling their flames...
Everyone made small talk as they ate. Isamu of course was messing with his two older brothers since he was the baby of the family.. but quickly his wife slightly pulled on his ear and told him to attend to his daughter Han'na that was sitting beside him and she was making a mess all over her face... "Ok!" He quickly said as he got a napkin to help her clean up a little bit as she continued on eating..
Everyone got to the topic of the sports festival, and how amazing it was this year... they were even impressed that two of the family members was able to be in the finals... "Of course it's not surprising that Kels finished first place this year she's been working really hard.." Hotaru said. "Yes. I'm really proud of my daughter there's already been heroes calling for her to intern with them." Kurisuti said with a smile. "Oh do you have any ideas on who you're going to pick to intern with?" Tatsuhio asked...
Kels looked at her uncle as she started to think.. "Well not really yet I'm still waiting on a few offers and I'm just going to pick the best one I think will suit me. And don't worry Endeavor already made a offer but I'm going to decline it..."
"Are you are you serious he's already made you an offer?" Tamami asked...
"Yeah... but I'm not interested..."
"That's good... do what you think is right but just don't do it because of family drama OK?" Pa added
"Yes.. Pa.."
The Akagi family, and the Todoroki family has always butted heads... some of it is because both families are known as strong fire users... but also endeavor tried to get them to be in arrange marriage years ago... even offered money at the time which the Akagi Family did not need... because of their family business; Phoenix gear they do pretty well in finance.. Endeavor actually tried to confront Rojā in marrying one of his daughters... but he refused he was still against arranged marriages since his mother and father was in one. He promised himself he would never put his children through that what his mother had to go through...
Isamu quickly spoke up. "Rinji.. I noticed at the sports festival you didn't use your fire. May I ask why?"
"Well you see I haven't told really anyone at school what my quirks are... and for a few years now I've been working on different techniques with both of my quirks... I've been using them like I should but I've been testing this one thing out with my metal control, making it seem like I have a similar quirk to All Might."
"So you haven't even told your teachers what your quirks are?"
Pa started to speak... " I think it's a good thing.. for right now anyway. The sports festival is shown all around the world and if you think of it, almost everybody is watching even bad people.... This will give him advantage later on and also he's trying new things experimenting with his quirks.. I did the same stuff when I was learning how to use my quirk.."
Isamu nodded his head, but he still had a slightly soured face. Maybe it was because he believed quirks should be used how they intended to be used. But also, he knew that this was going to hold his nephew back, because he realized that he possibly could've win against the winner of the sports festival if he just used his full strength and not the newest technique that he had...
Everyone continued eating breakfast, even having seconds or thirds. Mimi was so excited that she made more than enough for breakfast for everyone.
Rinji noticed something bumped his foot under the table. He slowly looked under and saw a little brown puppy. "Lou?!" he said with a smile it had been years since he saw Lou. and he was also in his puppy form,most likely so he could get under the table a whole lot better with all of these people.
He looked around to make sure nobody was looking and he got a piece of bacon to give to Lou.. Lou is really excited any quickly grab the piece of bacon and started to eat it, and this brought a smile to Rinji. When he looked back up, he noticed that his grandma was looking at him, but she did not say anything.
When everyone was done Hotaru quickly started grabbing the empty plates and stacking them to bring to the kitchen so they could be cleaned. Everyone else started to pitch in a little grabbing their silverware cups, and whatever was left of the food.
As everyone was doing this Lou had bolted from under the table and started making his way to the living room, quickly aging up to his normal size as a big dog. The twins saw this, and they yelled for him as they chased him, but Lou love the attention.
Lou has been around the family since almost the very beginning, when Pa was a hero He stumbled across a illegal animal breeder, and Lou was one of the animals turns out the animal breeder was trying to make special animals that would not age, get sick, or die. Instead of taking him to a pound. Pa decided to bring him to the family when his kids was just starting to be teenagers.
"Hey Rinji! Do you want to go upstairs? Play some video games to kill time?!" Hinotama hollered out. Before he could answer him. Atsuko quickly grabbed him by the ear. "No, you need to help clean."
This made Tamami chuckle a little bit as she handed him a washrag to wipe up the table..
He rolled his eyes, plopping the washrag down on the table and started to scrub it down. Rinji headed into the kitchen with all the other glasses that he had grabbed and poured what was left in them down the drain in the sink, he then noticed Kels grabbing one of the leftover biscuits and chucking it to Lou, which he was able to catch and eat in one bite.
Rinji thought to himself that his cousin Kels was one of the strongest members of the family in their generation, and she hasn't even graduated yet... like him she has to quirks... one of them is a really strong black flame quirk... and another one is a really strong blue energy quirk.. which come to find out during the sports festival she could use these simultaneously, and they would work well together. Using the blue energy to create shields, or even tools to help out her fire, like making a bow and arrow, and creating a fire arrow for long range attacks.
Tasuhiro walked up behind Rinji and placed a hand on his shoulder. " Thank you for the help. Don't worry about the rest. We got it from here go on relax hang out do whatever..." he said, with a smile as he took the rag away from his nephew.
"Anyway, hopefully when Ken shows up, they'll be a surprise..."
"A surprise?"
"Don't worry about it you'll see when he gets here."
Rinji decided to make his way to the living room where a few of the other younger members of the family, or either playing or just hanging out. But he could not help from wondering what could be the surprise that is uncle was talking about...
