When morning came Taehyung rose Jungkook up,asked for a horse and left the palace.It was around five and Jungkook had no clue as to where they would be going.He was enjoying the comfort of being able to ride on the same horse with his husband .
After going for almost half an hour into the woods ,they stopped in front of a treehouse.Taehyung helped Jungkook get down from the horse.
"And this?"
"Is this your first time seeing a treehouse?"Taehyung asked
"I don't even know what it is"
"I thought the name explains itself.It a house in the tree"Taehyung said
"Isn't this for kids?"
"Yeah it was my hideout when I was still a child.I used to come here often when I wanted to be alone"
"Who made it?"Jungkook asked
"My dad.I had also promised him that I would bring my first love here one day and I have fulfilled that promise"
"Am I really your first love?"
"You didn't know?"Taehyung asked a bit disappointed.
"Just wanted to be sure"
"Let's go inside"
Taehyung gave Jungkook a tour of his favorite hideout.They were paintings on the war and some were still unfinished.On the floor there were animal hides.After the tour they rode back to the palace where they were met with an angry aunt and nephew
"Take care of your child will you?He has been crying for a while.He wants his parents"Jisoo said
"We just got carried away"Jungkook said
"And forgot you had a child?"Mrs Jeon asked.
"Well it's not the first time they have done it"Mina said
"Why don't we do something about that?"Jisoo suggested
"Something like what?"Taehyung asked
"No one will help them look after their son for the entire week.He will be stuck with them.Even in the evening"
"That's too easy.Do you think we can't take care of our son without your help"Taehyung retorted
"Shut up Taehyung.Don't upset them because we will always need their help.I was doing the talking so why did you butt in and mess up things for me"Jungkook hissed
"I apologize my queen.I'm taking my son and you can do the talking with the ladies"Taehyung said and made his escape.
"Alright"
Now it was Jungkook who was facing the fire squad.
"Details.You had sex last night?"Jisoo asked
"No,we just talked"Jungkook replied rather timidly
"And where were you coming from?"Mrs Jeon asked
"Mother have you forgotten that you are talking to the queen.You are beneath him"Mina
"Noona you are right.I will have her flogged for disrespecting me"Jungkook said
"As if.I dare you brat"his mother challenged
"I'm not afraid of any of you.Never forget who I am"
"Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed?"Jisoo asked because the omega was acting out of character.
"Did i ?If you excuse me I have to go and get myself ready for breakfast"
The three women were dumbfounded as the watched the omega walk away gracefully from them.
"Good thing they made up"Mrs Jeon smiled
"I'm glad"Mina said
"Are you sure they didn't have make up sex?"Jisoo asked
"If they did we would have heard them or someone would have talked about it already"the older of the three ladies said
"So where do you think they are coming from?"Jisoo asked.The two kept talking between themselves.Mina was just a mute persepectator.
"Isn't it the same place they always disappear to?"Mrs Jeon asked
"No,the direction is different this time around"
"Do you two want to become royal spies.Mother don't forget that his highness promised you flogging"Mina laughed
"Shut up.It is you who is instigating my son against me"
"Instead of stressing about people who are happily married and in love with each other why don't you focus on the preparations of your upcoming wedding"Mina told Jisoo
"For once you are right.Let's go and get ready for breakfast"
After breakfast Jungkook and Jeha were in Taehyung's room helping him get ready for the hunt.Jeha was playing on his father's bed while Jungkook was fixing his husband's outfit.
Taehyung had his arms around the omega's waist.
"You look more handsome today"Jungkook said
"Like I have ever looked any less handsome"
"It's not you but the outfit"Jungkook teased
"So I see"
"I wish you luck.Just be careful out there"
"Why do you want me to get for you.A deer ,an elephant or a lion"
"A lion?Really Taehyung?"the omega asked in excitement.
"Anything for you"
"I don't want anything.I just want you to come back to us in one peace.Don't get hurt.No matter what you should remember that we are waiting for you"Jungkook said
"I'm not going off to war my love.So please relax"
"I know but anything can happen.I don't want to lose you.Just come back safely"
"I promise"Taehyung smiled
"Jeha come and see your father off .Wish him luck"
"He will only clap my cheeks again"
"I don't think he is still upset with you for ignoring his mother"the omega pouted
"I can only imagine what he will do when he becomes a man.He is not even two years and he is already so overprotective of you"Taehyung said
"Jeha will always have my back so don't ever think about mistreating me ever.He might just forget that you are his father"
"I envy you"
"Dada"Jeha made grabby hands at his father.Taehyung didn't hesitate to pick him up and held him tightly against his chest.
"Let's go.Don't keep people waiting.It's not cool King or not"
"Your wish is my command"
Around three in the afternoon,Jungkook was playing with his son along with his mother and sister.They were playing in the rear of the omega's residence.The three of them saw Sunhee coming to them with quick strides.Jungkook's heart quickened when he thought of something happening to his husband.He silently prayed that everything be alright.
"Your highness.There is an emergency"
Jungkook jumped onto his feet"What's wrong Noona"
"His highness the king has...Forgive me for saying this but..."
"What happened to my husband Noona.Please just tell me whatever it is.I can take it"
"They came back from hunting and the king has been shot by a poison arrow"
Tears covered Jungkook 's eyes instantly.Turns out he was wrong when he said he could handle it.
"Jungkook"Mrs Jeon called after seeing her son spacing for a while.
"You have to go to him"
"I'm scared"
"Jungkook if you don't go to see him then people will.just assume that you are behind the attack.Possibly you would be blamed because you attempted to end his life once"Mrs Jeon said
"Where is he?Is he critical"
"The situation seems critical.The doctor even ordered everyone to leave his chambers."Sohee said
"Mother i will go to him"
"You should"
Jungkook literally ran all the way to his husband's residence.He found Namjoon ,Yoongi ,Hoseok along with all the king's men.They didn't dare stop him.
"How did you let this happen?"the question was directed at one person and that was Yoongi.The alpha remained quite.
"Wasn't it your duty to protect him with your life.That's what you signed up for right.If you can't do your job right then quit"
"Your highness ,now isn't the time"Namjoon said softly
"I get that you hate me and I never did anything about it but i won't forgive you for not doing your job and getting my husband harmed"
"Jungkook.."
"I'm done hyung.I won't say no more.You think I'm getting back at him for not liking him right?I'm just disappointed"
"We understand your highness.We apologize for letting you down"Hoseok said
Jungkook said nothing and the door was opened for him without a word.
Taehyung was laying on his bed lifelessly.All his blood vessels were turning black.He had never seen his husband this pale and pitful before.It made him weak.
Medicinal herbs had been applied onto the king's wound.Judging by the bloody cloths on the floor his husband had lost a great deal amount of blood.The doctor's assistant came and collected the cloths.
"How is he?"
"He is unconscious but there is a pulse.You shouldn't be here your highness"
"Why?Can't I see my husband or you are thinking I did that to him"
"I dare not think that way"the servant bowed
"I'm glad"
"The arrow pierced his heart and the poison is spreading rapidly throughout out his body.It appears very lethal.I apologize but I can't guarantee that he will live long"
Jungkook bit back a sob and blinked tears away"Isn't there anyway we can stop the poison from spreading"
"I'm afraid I don't know of anyway.If you know how then please let me know"
"So am I just going to lose him like that.My son isn't going to have a father and I'm going to be lonely my whole life"
"Take heart your highness"
Then Jisoo entered the room and found Jungkook on his knees.She wasn't surprised to see her brother in this state which proved that she had seen him already
"So this is all you can do.Is this all you are capable of Jungkook.Crying.Are you going to give up without a try"
"What can I do Noona"Jungkook cried.He couldn't hold back the tears."I'm helpless"
"Don't you think it's time you put your knowledge for medicinal herbs to good use.Do you think Taehyung will ever forgive you if you let him go just like that?"the Princess asked softly
"Why?"
"Do you think I'm insensitive for not crying even after seeing my brother dying.I'm just numb.That's how I feel right now.I have witnessed my parent's death and as more people die the more indifferent to death I have become"
"I need your help Noona.We can't lose him"Jungkook cried desperately
"If the ministers hear about his condition then they will get their private soldiers and march in here.They will stage a coup and overthrow a man who is already on his deathbed"
"Do you think they did this to him?"Jungkook asked
"What do you think?I have already told Yoongi and Hoseok to get their men on standby.We won't die unaware.The three of us will try to figure something to do.Namjoon has declared a state of emergency so everyone in the palace will be on high alert"
"Is Jeha and my family okay?"
"I got them somewhere safe.Don't worry.I won't let anything happen to my nephew.He should live to sit on the throne of his forefathers"
"Forget about the throne.I can't even imagine life without him"Jungkook said lowly
"That's why the three of us have to work together and try everything that we can to save him"
Jungkook leaned over and kissed Taehyung's forehead and held his hand."You broke your promise Taehyung.You had promised me that you would come back safe but"
"We only have the reminder of the day and the whole of tonight if we can get to save him.After tomorrow morning it would be difficult"the royal doctor said
"Jungkook please stop crying.You have to be strong for Jeha.He isn't dead.We still have a chance and we should make the most of it"
"I'm sorry"
"Don't apologize.I just want you to know that whatever happens I'm with you.We are family and we stick together through thick and thin"Jisoo said
"Thank you"
"Your husband is an idiot Jungkook.A fool.Did he have to wait for this to happen.He knew that those old men were getting up to no good yet he did nothing.Is this what he really wanted.To die a meaningless death"
For the first time Jungkook saw fear in his sister in law's eyes.He knew she was holding back tears.She wanted to be strong for both of them even though she was crumbling from the inside.She needed her brother,her greatest support in this world.She didn't want to be left on her own.
"He won't die"Jungkook patted his sister in law's back.
"Then tell yourself the same thing"she whispered
"It feels so much better coming from someone else"Jungkook said
"You are right.I feel the same"
"When he wakes up I'm not going to forgive him.King or not I'm not going to make things easy for him for putting me through this kind of pain"Jungkook said in between sobs.
"He doesn't deserve to be forgiven"Jisoo shook her head
"You better tell him that if he decides to leave me then I won't cry for him all my life.No matter what tradition says I'm going to get married again and it would be his lose.Jeha will call another man his father"
"I'm sure he can hear you Jungkook.My brother is a very heartless man.How can he think of leaving us and go.Forget about all of us.What about Jeha.He will ask for his father when he can't see him.What are we supposed to tell him.He won't understand a thing until he grows up"
