-3rd person POV-
Y/N Wheeler is a brave kid, some would argue that she's short tempered which isn't wrong at all. She's definitely not the type of girl that is all worried about looks, she's usually found in jean shorts with doodles on them, a black tucked in T-shirt slightly pulled out to make it puffy around the waist. Her go to shoes are black high-top Converse. She's fairly clumsy as well, most times she's got a plaster on her knee and a few small ones on her knuckles from fighting at school. She's never worried about reputation at school, it's more so the material in class. Her and her friends love science, but she's also got a special place for English in her heart. Music is a big part of her life as well, she's always got a bag over her shoulder that lays right by her hip with all her music and her Walkman inside.
Her friends are quite important as well. There's Lucas Sinclair, a short tempered dark skinned kid with black hair. Will Byers, a shy pale kid with a brown bowl cut. Mike Wheeler, her twin brother, very pale, black hair. And best saved for last, Dustin Henderson, very smart boy, he's got beautiful curly brown hair usually tucked under his hat, anyone could honestly forget what the top of his head looks like, he holds a very special place in her heart. She doesn't know it yet but so does she for him

"Something's coming...something hungry for blood" Mike spoke looking around the table at all of us "A shadow grows on the wall behind you, swallowing you in the darkness."
"What is it!?" Will asked leaning over the table slightly
"What if it's the demogorgon?" Dustin asked looking around
"Aw jeez! We're so screwed if it's the demogorgon!" I said thinking about what Dustin had said
"It's not the demogorgon" Lucas said looking at the both of us
"An army of troglodytes charge into the chamber!" Mike said slamming down the figurines
"Troglodytes" me and Dustin spoke in perfect unison
"Told ya" Lucas spoke leaning his arm on the table
The boys laughed a little I sat in silence, I know Mike, he's not done.
"Wait..did you hear that?" Mike looked around "that- that sound, boom, Boom, BOOM!" Mike slammed his hand on the table causing us to jump and gasp "That didn't come from the troglodytes, no that came from something else. The demogorgon!" Mike slammed down the demogorgon piece
We all groaned "We're in deep shit!!" Dustin shouted throwing his hands up slightly then putting them back down
"Will your action!" Mike said looking straight up at Will
"I don't know!" Will looked down
"Fireball him!" Lucas suggested
"I'd have to roll a 13 or higher!" Will argued
"To risky! Cast a protection spell!" Dustin added
"Don't be a pussy! Fireball him!" Lucas argued
Lucas a dustin went on until Mike slammed his hand on the table "The demogorgon is tired of your silly human bickering it stomps towards you BOOM!"
Lucas, Dustin, and Mike continued yelling, Will panicking. "Will, no pressure just do something, anything" I said loud enough only he could hear me
"FIREBALL!" Will yelled as he rolled, the die falling off the table. We all jumped up to look for it some silently cursing, Mike yelling "Where'd it go!?"
We all searched until I heard mom yelling "Mike! Y/N!" She opens the basement door and stands at the top of the stairs "Mike! Y/N!" she shouted down the stairs causing me and Mike to look up at her
"Mom we're in the middle of a campaign!" Mike said putting his arms out
"You mean the end. 15 after." She said pointing at her wrist
"No!" everyone groaned in the background
"Mom! Wait! Just 20 more minutes!!" I said running up the stairs Mike following behind
"School night Y/N, I just put Holly to bed. You can finish next weekend" she said putting up the leftovers from dinner
"But then it'll ruin the flow!" Mike argued
"Michael."
"We're serious mom! The campaign took 2 weeks to plan!" Mike added
"How were we supposed to know it would take 10 hours?" I asked
"You've been playing for 10 hours!?" You could hear concern in her voice
"Dad! Don't you think just 20 more-" mike was cut off
"I think you should listen to you're mother" dad said trying to fix the TV
Me and mike stood in the front room door way, upset. We turned to mom slowly as dad hit the TV our mouths slightly hanging open.
The boys walked upstairs with all their bags on their backs, dustin carrying the pizza box that contained only one slice left. Dustin went upstairs as the rest of us walked outside, Will and Lucas getting on their bikes. Dustin walked out shortly after looking at me "There's something wrong with your sister"
"What are you talking about?" me and Mike asked
"She's got a stick up her butt." He said getting on his bike and earning a snicker from me
"Yeah, it's because she's dating that douche bag Steve Harrington" Lucas added
"Yep, she's turning into a real jerk." Dustin said looking at me and Mike
"She's always been a real jerk!" Mike argued
"Nuh-uh, she used to be cool" Dustin said putting his kick stand up and walking his bike forward "Like that time she dressed up as an elf for our elder tree campaign" he road out of the driveway
"Four years ago!" I shouted after him
"Just saying!" He shouted back
"Later" Lucas said riding away and I gave him a small wave bye
Me and Mike stood watching them ride off "It was a seven" Will said looking at Mike
"Huh?" Mike asked as I turned and walked to go inside
"The roll, it was a seven, the demogorgon got me" I heard will inform Mike, I smiled at his honesty as I walked inside the house, up the stairs, and into my room.
I walked over to my bed and sat down, reaching to my radio and put girls just wanna have fun into the cassette player part, I turned it down low so only I could hear it and layed down in bed. I laid the covers over me and shut the light off, I closed my eyes and breathed slowly, listing to the music
"but girls just wanna have fun. Oh, girls they wanna have fun"
I slowly fell asleep

I walked downstairs in my usual type of outfit, shorts, black shirt, and my high top shoes. I had my usual bag with music and my walkman in it hanging at my side. I had a pen tucked behind my ear because I planned on drawing on my shoes and shorts later.
I'm the last one downstairs as usual, I always wake up late. I ran to my seat passing mom as she grabbed the ringing phone and I sat next to Mike as he was pouring syrup on his eggs "Ew! That's disgusting!" me and Nancy said at the same time causing Mike to pour some in our eggs smiling
"Michael!!!" I yelled out
"What the hell Mike!?" Nancy asked
"Quiet!" mom shouted over her shoulder
Me and Nancy started fussing at Mike for ruining our eggs
"Oh come on Y/N! You can't be that mad! You barely even eat breakfast anyway!" Mike said, which was true, I'm usually not hungry in the morning but today I was
"I was gonna eat it all today! I'm actually hungry!" I snapped
We kept arguing
I did not eat my eggs, at all.

Me, Mike, Dustin, and Lucas are all riding our bikes to school, I've got my headphones on so I'm not really paying much attention.
We pass a bus as we pull up to the school, we quickly put our bikes in the bike rack as the bell rang.
"That's weird..I don't see him" Mike said talking about Will as I took my headphones off
"I'm telling you, his mom's right. He probably just went to class early again" Lucas said as we all started to walk inside
"Yeah, he's always paranoid Gursky's gonna give him a another pop quiz" Dustin spoke from beside me
"Step right up lady's and gentleman!" came a voice from behind us ugh Troy we all turned around "Step right up and get your tickets for the freak show"
We all looked at him annoyed, I once beat him in a fight in the 4th grade the first time he bullied Dustin, that still never stopped him because I've beat him in many more fights after that, yet he still fucks with us. "Who do you think would win more money in the freak show?" he asked his 'friend' "midnight, frogface, toothless, or klutz?" he said shoving us all as he spoke our weird names he gave us.
I crossed my arms, giving him one last chance to stop. His 'friend' pretended to think then pointed at Dustin "I go with Toothless" he said mocking Dustin's lisp
"I told you a million times my teeth are coming in its called Cleidocranial
dysplasia" Dustin defended
"I sold you a million syimes" The kid mocked
"Do the thing" Troy said
"Do it freak!"
I cracked my knuckles ready to punch Troy but Mike pushed my hands down "Not worth it" he whispers as Dustin took his jacket off
He cracked his arms forward and I smiled as Troy and the other kid groaned in disgust. Troy pushed past me and Mike trying to walk away but not before I tripped him. "Assholes" me an Lucas mumbled
"I think it's kinda cool Dust, it's like you have supper powers or something!" I said grabbing Dustin's hat and placing it on my head, walking backwards a bit
"Like Mr fantastic" Mike said starting to walk away with Lucas
"Yeah except I can't fight evil with it" Dustin replied catching up and taking his hat back
We all walked into school together talking and joking the whole way to class

I took my seat in Mr Clarke's class, front row, right next to Dustin. God I hate these seats. It's so hard to doodle on things when Mr Clarke can see my every move.
I dug in my bag for the pen I had behind my ear earlier this morning, I uncapped its with my teeth.
The boys were talking a I pulled up Dustin's sleeve and started to draw my name on his arm with a little heart and a smiley face next to it. I recapped my pen and smiled as he looked at what I put on his arm.
The bell rang signaling everyone to leave, as the class quickly poured out the door Mr Clarke spoke about an upcoming test. Once the class was gone he turned to us standing at the front of his desk
"So, did it come?" Mike asked eagerly
"I'm sorry boys, and Y/N, I hate to be the barrier of bad news but" he paused
We leaned forward a bit hoping he was playing a joke
"It came!" he spoke excitedly
We walked into the AV room, Mike first us following behind.
"Yes!" Me and Mike whisper under our breaths as he sat in the chair
"The heathkit ham shack." Mr Clarke said "Ain't she a beaut?"
"I bet you could talk to new York on this thing!" Dustin said messing with a dial
"Think bigger" Mr Clarke said
"California?" Lucas asked looking at him
"Bigger"
"Australia?" Me and Mike asked in unison earning a nod from Mr Clarke
"When Will sees this he's totally gonna blow his shit!" Lucas was ecstatic
"Lucas!" Mr Clarke scolded
"Sorry" he said as me and Dustin giggled
"Ello this is Mike Wheeler, president of hawkins Middle AV Club!" Mike said with a horrible accent
Dustin took the headphones right off Mike's head and lead into the speaker "What are you doing" I laughed
"Ello this is Dustin Henderson, secretary and Treasurer of Hawkins Middle AV Club! Do you eat kangaroos for breakfast?" he spoke in an even worse accent. I laughed along with Mike as Lucas grabbed hold of the headphones.
Right then a knock went through the open door "Sorry to interrupt but may I borrow Michael, Lucas, Y/N, and Dustin" the principal asked as Hopper the chief of police stood in the hallway
We all just stared in disbelief

We all spoke over eachother after getting the news that our friend, Will Byers has gone missing.
"Ok Ok Ok" Hopper cut us off "One at a time. You, you said he takes what home?" He pointed at Mike
"Mirkwood"
"Mirkwood?" Mike nodded in response and hopper looked to the other cop "Ever heard of Mirkwood?"
"Sounds made up to me." The second guy said
"It's from Lord of the rings" Lucas said. I mentally face palmed at his stupidity
"The hobbit" Dustin added
"It doesn't matter" Lucas slowly turned to Dustin
"He asked!"
"hE aSkEd!"
They started arguing with me and Mike in the middle
"Hey, Hey, Hey. What'd I just say? One. At a damn. Time." Hopper shut down the argument "You." he looked at Mike
"Mirkwood, it's a real road it's just the name that's made up" Mike spoke
"Its where Cornwallis and Kerley meet" I added quickly
"alright I think I know where that is" Hopper leaned back in his chair
"we can show you if you wan-" Mike started
"I said that I know it" Hopper's voice was loud, it scared me a bit
"We can help look." Mike said getting a bunch of yeah's from us
"No." Hopper said quietly, I shut my mouth and placed my foot on my knee, uncapping my pen and drawing little bugs, and bats on the white part of my shoe. The boys kept arguing.
"No. After school you are all to go home. Immediately. That means no biking around looking for your friend. No investigatin'. No nonsense. This isn't some lord of the rings book." He spoke sternly
"The hobbit" Dustin added, I hit his arm with the back of my hand and leaned forward a bit to look at him just to lean back again
"Shut up!" Lucas yelled leaning over me and Mike to hit Dustin like I did but Dustin hit him back. They argued back and forth and Hopper leaned forward in his chair again
"Do I make myself clear?" he spoke quietly. When he got no answer he stood up "Do I make myself. Clear?" he was intimidating
We nodded and said "yes sir"

"We should be out there right now! We should be helping look for him!" Mike protested at the dinner table
"We've been over this Mike, chief says-" mom was cut off
"I don't care what the chief says!"
"Michael!" mom scolded
"We have to do something! Will could be in danger!" Mike argued as I moved the food on my plate around
"More reason to stay put."
"Mom!" I started to argue
"End of discussion." she looked at Nancy
We went silent for a second before Nancy started "So, me and Barb are gonna study ay her house tonight. That's cool right?"
I could not believe her! She should not be able to leave! I know she's lying!
"No. Not cool." mom said picking up food from her plate
"What?! Why not!?" Nancy argued
"Why do you think!?" baby holly looked around and as she met my gaze I smiled making her feel slightly more comfortable "am I speaking Chinese in this house!? Until we know wil is ok no one leaves."
"That's such bullshit!" Nancy whined
"Language" dad speaking for the first time since we started dinner
"so we're under house arrest just because Mike and Y/N's friend got lost on the way home!?" Nancy had shouted
"What this is Will's fault!?" Me and Mike shouted at Nancy
"Nancy take that back" mom demanded
"No!"
"You're just pissed of because you wanna hang out with Steve!" I shouted out angry. She thinks thinks it's Will's fault. That bitch! She glared at me but I didn't look away because she scared me, I know I can beat her in I fight, I looked away to make sure baby Holly was ok.
"Steve?" dad asked
"Who is Steve?" mom asked leaning her head forward over the table a bit
"Her new boyfriend!" Mike said quickly
You two are such douche bags!" Nancy yelled at us
"Language!" dad shouted
"Ugh!" Nancy stood up and left
"Nancy come back!" mom shouted, Holly looked like she was going to cry so I got up and walked over to her high chair "It's ok Holly, drink some juice" I said in a soothing voice showing her the cup that was on her tray.
"See Michael and Y/N see what happens?" dad looked at us
"see what happens when what!? We're the only two acting normal here! We're the only ones that care about will!!" Mike shouted speaking for the both of us as I squatted next to Holly's chair
"That is really unfair. We care." dad said shoving food in his mouth
Mike slammed his hands on the table and got up, I got off the ground as Mike left "I hope you're happy dad." I said grabbing Holly and walking upstairs
I heard mom calling after us but I ignored her and took Holly to her room. I sat her down and grabbed her favorite toy playing with her so she wouldn't start crying.
After a few minutes of me and Holly playing and laughing mom walked in
"Hey" she said sitting next to me on the ground. I kept quiet. "I'm sorry about dinner, I just want to keep you guys safe"
"I know mom, I know..we're just worried about Will" I said giving holly the toy I had in my hand. Mom wrapped her arm around me as I pulled my knees up to my chest holding back tears.
She started talking again but I just stood up "Play with Holly for me? Please? I need to talk to Mike." she nodded and I walked to his room. He's not here, must be in the basement.
I ran downstairs quickly passing the kitchen where dad still sat eating. That mouth breather..I ran down the basement stairs to hear Mike calling for the boys on his walkie
"-do you copy? This is Mike. Lucas?"
Static sounded as I sat in the chair next to Mike "Hey, it's Lucas" his voice broke the static
"I know it's you. Say over when you're done talking so I know when you're done. Over." I rolled my eyes at his stupidity
"I'm done. Over." Lucas sassed into the walkie
"I'm worried about Will. Over"
"Yeah this is crazy. Over"
"I was thinking. Will could've cast protection last night, but he didn't. He cast fireball. Over" My eyes widened as I caught onto what he was saying
"What's your point? Over."
I grabbed the walkie from Mike "His point is, Will could've played it safe, but he didn't. He put himself in danger to help the party." I rolled my eyes at what I was about to say "Over."
"Meet me in 10, over and out" Lucas said then I put the antenna down and handled it to Mike "I'll be back in a minute" I said running upstairs
I grabbed my bag of music, and a back pack I threw my walkie and a pocket knife I got mom to buy me into the bag. Me and Mike snuck out and got on our bikes, we stopped as soon as we got out the drive way.
Steve Harrington is trying to sneak into our sisters bedroom window. He looked at us awkwardly then me and Mike groaned and continued riding our bikes.

Dustin, Lucas, Mike, and I went to mirkwood. We stopped our bikes and as we got off of them putting the kickstands down Dustin took a big breath in like we're about to die or something.
"Guys, you feel that?" Dustin looked up, as I did to I felt a rain drop land on the tip of my nose "I think maybe we should go back" Dustin suggested
"No. We're not going back." Mike said
I opened my bag and grabbed out the pocket knife "Come on" I said taking a step forward waiting for Dustin
"stay on channel 6." Mike said walking into the woods
"don't do anything stupid" I tossed him the closed pocket knife while walking backwards. As he caught it I turned around following Lucas and Mike.
"Guys wait up!" Dustin said running up behind us. I smiled, I knew he'd pull through
Lucas and Mike are up in front of me and Dustin by about 15 feet. I kicked rocks as Mike called out Will's name.
"Still got my name on your arm?" I turned to look at Dustin. He nodded and lifted his sleeve to show me, I smiled and looked back to the ground.
"Gimme your pen." he said smiling. Confused I went in my bag and handed it to him, he grabbed my arm and lifted my sleeve up. Sloppily he wrote his name with a heart and a star next to it, I smiled and took the pen back.
"Best friends" He smiled
"Forever" I returned the smile. I blew on the ink from the gel pen so it wouldn't smudge, then pulled my sleeve down.
Just as we caught up to Lucas and Mike it started pouring "Goddamn it!!" I cursed under my breath. I forgot to bring a hooded jacket and my flashlight.

"guys I really think we should turn back" Dustin suggested
"Dustin if you wanna be a baby then go home already!" Lucas shouted at him. I looked at Dustin, I felt bad because I knew he was right. Nobody but him saw that I don't have a flashlight or hood if we stayed out here any longer I'd be at home sick for the next week and we'd be in deep shit.
"I'm just being realistic Lucas!!" dustin shouted over the rain
"No you're just being a big sissy!!" Lucas shouted back. I patted Dustin's shoulder and flashed him a look of 'im sorry'
"Ever think will went missing cause he ran into something bad?" He shouted over the rain again "And were going to the to exact same spot he was last seen and we have no weapons or anything"
"Dustin shut up" Mike said
"I'm just saying does that seem smart to you!?"
"Shut up! Shut up! You guys hear that?" we heard leaves crunching
"Dustin! Dustin!" I remembered the knife I tossed to him "Pocket knife! Pocket knife!" I whispered causing the boy to search his pocket and hand it to me.
We turned around and nothing was there. Then it was a behind us, quickly we turned and there was a boy- no a girl, with shaved hair and a long yellow shirt on. She's got less than I've got on, she's going to get hypothermia or something!!
We stared as she stood there breathing heavily
