goosebumps rose on Felix's back and neck as he stood frozen in place, the whistling got louder and louder as the person making the sound got closer. he gulped to wash away the rising fear in his throat but it only got worse, hyunjin took a few steps back standing afront felix who had his eyes widened and mouth shut close, "felix?" he spoke again raising his arm to rest on Felix's shoulder gently shaking the lost boy
"my my, look what the cat dragged in" and that's when hell broke loose on felix, hearing that voice made him relive a thousand nightmares. hyunjin broke his gaze from Felix's face to stare at the man standing behind felix, he stared at him confused and not understanding who he was "little Juliet," felix shivered at the nickname as his eyes blurred his vision and replaced it with a flashback
"I asked for all your money, how did you buy this then huh? guess you didn't give me everything then" a loud smack landed over Felix's face throwing his frail body to the hard ground as he bit his lip to hold in his sobs "answer me fucker! where did you get the money to buy this pathetic book?" he threw the book at Felix's face creating a bruise on the pretty face
"spending your hard-earned money on shit like this, guess you really wanna be Juliet hmm?" he asked voice softening as he knelt down in front of felix who shivered in fear, he was alone. and they were many, there was no way in hell he could put up a fight with so many people. after all, he was just a mere 14 year old
"look at me," he asked voice surprisingly welcoming than before, so felix obeyed. hesitantly turning his head to stare at the boy "you really wanna read this?" he asked and felix remained silent for a moment before nodding, his gentle expression turned into a victorious smirk as he snatched the book from the ground opening the pages and taking them out one by one
felix's eyes widened as he gained some strength to save the book but he was stronger, he punched his face hard and felix was on the ground once again. watching the book he had brought from his hard work being torn into pieces
tears brimmed in Felix's eyes as he kept shivering, hyunjin looked around watching a few boys walk up to them and surround them, creating a circle around them. "turn around, darling. it's been so long aren't you pleased to meet me again?" the man asked in a mocking tone, all the boys around them were dressed in black with their faces covered with different types of masks, hoods, and caps "felix...who are these people?" hyunjin asked, voice gentle
and the aforementioned finally looked up, his eyes staring back into hyunjin's while tears shimmered in them, he didn't answer only frustrating hyunjin further, "are they your friends?" the boys remained silent letting them communicate, it was an obvious question but hyunjin needed to make sure. the only response he earned from felix was a shake of his head
felix turned around the face the guy and hyunjin took another step closer to his friend, making sure to glare at all the men surrounding them "w-what do you want?" felix finally gained some courage to speak the male laughed "just wanna play a game, our game. one we used to love so much" he replied with a grin spreading over his face
the boys began to walk closer to the pair standing and hyunjin was quick to grab Felix's wrist and push him behind himself, hiding him. "oh, looks like our little Juliet finally got his Romeo" the man spoke his smile not going anywhere, hyunjin's eyes were sharp as he stared at each and every one of them walking towards them
it didn't take another second for one of the boys' to come up and punch hyunjin, but the raven-head was quicker than that. he held his fist and marked his face with his own, which caused the other guy to cough up blood. the proud expressions dropped on the floor from the man's face when he watched another one of his minions bite the dust
"what the fuck-" he whispered to the cold air of august, and with that. the men dropped on the floor one after another like dominoes, it wasn't that the men weren't strong it was just that they didn't have a father who taught them how to fight at the age of seven. and that was the only thing hyunjin was ever only grateful for from his father
hyunjin panted as he stared at the guy standing in front of them, he wiped his bloody lips as he dropped his hand to his side holding Felix's wrist. sweat covered his face while his raven hair fell across his midnight eyes. the three boys were surrounded by men on the ground who kept on either groaning or crying
felix looked around him then back up at hyunjin watching him from the back as a soft warm feeling covered him like a blanket in the worst of January. "you wanna come in?" hyunjin muttered as the other boy gulped before laughing away his fear "you think you're tough?" he scoffed at hyunjin "I'll get you some other time fucker" he muttered as he slowly took steps backward
"if I see you around him one more time shit-bag, I will make sure not a single piece of you is to be ever seen, got that?" hyunjin warned his voice laced with the most poisonous venom, the boy gulped before turning around to run away
Hyunjin watched him run off into nothingness as he sighed turning to look at felix, who was looking down with his shoulders shaking uncontrollably "felix..." Hyunjin whispered raising his hand to cup Felix's face and make him look at him, he gently tugged his face upwards watching the crystals fall down his freckled cheeks
"I'm- I'm...sorry" felix sobbed closing his eyes shut, "hey, why are you apologizing?" Hyunjin asked leaning closer to the sobbing boy, their faces inches apart as he wiped away his tears but new ones kept replacing the wiped ones
"Stop it already" hyunjin softly whispered once again, pulling felix closer by the wrist he had not let go of for so long, he pulled him closer into his warm embrace. The shaking boy hid his face in hyunjin chest "you're okay" hyunjin muttered against the smaller boy's ear while he carded his fingers in his soft hair
It was odd because the boy was never good at understanding emotions and comforting others, if it had been any other time hyunjin would probably stand straight and stare awkwardly until the other person stopped crying
But it was different this time, something was changed. It was like he was being pulled on strings like his heart was controlling his body instead of his mind. And the one controlling his heart was some other-worldly spirit that he had no power against
"You got hurt because of me" felix muttered against hyunjin's chest, his hot breath wavering over the fabric of his shirt "I'm alright felix, now stop crying please" hyunjin spoke softly caressing Felix's nape, felix pulled away from the hug wiping his tears as he sniffled while licking his lips. he took in deep breaths and exhaled in an attempt to calm himself down only to breakdown again
"I'm so sorry, I'm so pathetic" he sobbed once again hiding his face in his small hands, hyunjin sighed loudly running a hand through his messy hair, he grabbed Felix's arm pulling his hand away from his face as he walked towards the sidewalk and sat both of them down. felix wiped his tears as he tried to stop his cries while hiccups invaded his breathing
they sat on the sidewalk in the middle of a dark street while the moon watched over them, hyunjin's grip over Felix's wrist remained as intact as it was the first time he held it. felix's heart began to feel calm and comforted as he scooted closer to hyunjin. the warmth radiating off from Felix's body collided with hyunjin's coldness, yet felix felt at home in the eerie coldness of the other male
something about hyunjin being by his side was so amazing that his shivering body calmed down on its own without him needing to take any pills, his aching head and beating heart felt calm and. sitting in the comfortable silence was a beautiful feeling both of the two enjoyed
before hyunjin spoke up "are you feeling better?" hyunjin asked turning his head towards felix who began to look down at his feet feeling embarrassed as he nodded "let's get going then" hyunjin spoke and felix hummed as the two boys got up and began to walk home

after quite a long walk the boys finally stood on the familiar street hyunjin had left the boy earlier "we can stop here" hyunjin muttered knowing this is where felix would like him to stop, felix licked his lips as he turned to stare at hyunjin "we can keep walking...if you'd like" felix muttered and for a moment hyunjin fell silent before he nodded and they began to walk again
"we're almost there" felix broke the calming silence and hyunjin hummed, the shorter of the two glanced down at their intertwined hands and a soft smile blossomed over his lips 'it's so amazing, how almost every line on our hands align' he wondered and sighed before turning to stare ahead again
he liked having hyunjin by his side and it was obvious he wasn't the only one feeling that way, but somewhere in the happy thought a worse one struck 'will he miss me when I leave?' Felix's smile dropped at the thought but he quickly masked it with nothingness as he stared around "we're here" he whispered walking into a small apartment building
at first, felix felt embarrassed about showing hyunjin where he lived, it wasn't the prettiest of places but when he looked over his shoulder and noticed any expressions had barely been replaced by the calm ones on hyunjin's face he relaxed and continue to lead the way
a few more stairs and they were stood in front of Felix's apartment as he opened the door with his keys, he softly turned around to stare at hyunjin who was already looking at him "you can come in if you want" he hesitantly suggested, hyunjin stared at him while slowly blinking his stomach turned while anticipating a reply from the other male
