NO ONE'S POV:
(Barbara wakes up in the pool but something's different about it.)
(She comes face to face with the creature that brought her here. Back in our world, Steve and Nancy are making love. Barbara's almost out of the pool but the creature pulls her back in.)
Barbara: Nancy!
A Few Minutes Later
(Nancy puts some clothes on & walks down some stairs to be met with Y/N.)
(Y/N): Hey, Nancy.
Nancy: [gasps] (Y/N), you scared me.
(Y/N): Sorry about that.
Nancy: It's okay.
(Y/N): You're leaving?
Nancy: Yeah.
(Y/N): I'll give you a ride.
Nancy: You don't have to. I'm fine walking.
(Y/N): Come on, Nancy. I don't bite, unless you want me to. [chuckles]
Nancy: Lead the way.
(Cut to Y/N driving his car with Nancy in the passenger seat.)
(Y/N): So...
Nancy: So what?
(Y/N): Did you have fun?
Nancy: A lot of fun actually.
(Y/N): Great, great.
Nancy: I don't think Barb had fun though.
(Y/N): I'm not gonna lie to you. I don't think she did either. Just apologize to her at school tomorrow. I'm sure she'll forgive you.
Nancy: She will. You saw her leave?
(Y/N): I didn't. I mean, I didn't see her car so I assume she left.
Nancy: Right, right.
(Y/N): Steve rocked your world, didn't he?
Nancy: ...What?
(Y/N): [awkward chuckle] I knew I shouldn't have asked you that. Just...try to pretend I didn't just ask you that. You want me to pull over? I'll pull over--
Nancy: (Y/N)!
(Y/N): Hm?
Nancy: It's fine. Calm down.
(Y/N): Calming down.
(There's a silence between the two until Y/N breaks it.)
(Y/N): I'm sorry. Despite being friends with Steve, as you can tell, I'm not too good at talking to the opposite sex.
Nancy: I think you're being too hard on yourself. Steve's told me the opposite about you.
(Y/N): He has?
Nancy: He says you're quite the charmer.
(Y/N): Do you think I'm charming, Wheeler?
Nancy: On occasion, O'Connell.
(Y/N): I'll remember that.
Nancy: How are you friends with him?
(Y/N): Who? Tommy? I am not friends with him. He is Steve's friend. I just tolerate him.
Nancy: I meant Steve.
(Y/N): Oh?
Nancy: You two seem so different but get along so well. Like, you're good at school and he's not.
(Y/N): He tries. Granted, he'd rather go after you. I should really get him to study with me.
Nancy: Well?
(Y/N): Well...that is a story for another time.
(He pulls up to her house.)
Nancy: Thanks for the ride.
(Y/N): My pleasure. See you at school tomorrow.
Nancy: Yeah, you too.
(She exits the car & closes the door. He watches her walk to the front door.)
(Y/N): She's too good for him.
(He starts driving down the street. As he does, he hears some coyotes howling. So rolls down his window, sticks his head out, &...)
(Y/N): [howls] Ha, I couldn't help myself.
The Next Day
(Steve meets Nancy at her locker.)
Steve: Hey.
Nancy: Hey!
Steve: Is everything okay?
Nancy: Yeah! Yeah, totally. I just...I feel like everyone's...staring at me.
Steve: Oh, I didn't...I didn't tell anyone.
Nancy: I know. Of course not. But what about, like, Tommy, Carol, (Y/N), and them?
Steve: You're being paranoid. Especially about (Y/N). He'd never do something like that.
Nancy: I'm sorry.
Steve: No. No, it's cute. Hey...I had a good time.
Nancy: Yeah. Me too.
(They kiss. Nancy arrives at her class to see Barbara isn't sitting next to her. Cut to the cafeteria during lunchtime. Nancy makes her way to the table where Steve, Y/N, Tommy, & Carol are sitting.)
Tommy: That's why science doesn't make any damn sense to me.
(Y/N): [mouthful] I bet a lot of things don't make sense to you.
Tommy: You wanna try swallowing, (Y/N)?
Carol: No, I swear. Look at this. It's totally frostbite.
(Steve hands Tommy his applesauce.)
Tommy: Oh, thanks, man. It's a heated pool.
(Nancy sits next to Steve.)
Carol: Well, if it's not frostbite, then what is it?
Steve: Ugh, I don't care what it is, it's disgusting! Get it off the table. We're eating here.
(She takes her foot off the table.)
Carol: If you want to talk about disgusting; just look at what (Y/N) is eating.
(Y/N): It's a sandwich?
(A deer heart sandwich to be exact.)
Carol: Why is it so red?
(Y/N): Um...
(Because it's raw.)
Nancy: Hey, Tommy. When you left, did you see Barb?
Tommy: What?
Nancy: Barbara. She's not here today.
Tommy: I seriously have no idea who you're talking about.
Carol: [snickers]
(Y/N): [groans]
Steve: Come on, don't be an ass, man. Did you...Did you see her leave last night or not?
Tommy: No, she was gone when we left.
Carol: Probably couldn't stand listening to all that moaning. [moans] Oh, Steve! Oh, Steve! Oh, Steve!
Tommy: Oh, Steve...
(Y/N): Oh, brother.
Carol: [moans] Oh, Steve!
Steve: Okay, chill. Listen...I'm sure she's fine. She's probably just...she's probably just, like, skipping or something.
Nancy: Yeah. Yeah, probably.
(Her & Jonathan make eye contact with each other. Jonathan develops photos in the dark room. Nicole walks in and notices one of the developed photos has Nancy in them. Jonathan grabs his photos & bolts out of the room. Nancy calls Barbara's mom who tells her that Barbara hasn't come home yet. Cut to Y/N, Steve, Nicole, Tommy, & Carol waiting at Jonathan's car.)
(Y/N): I really don't think this is a good idea, Steve.
Steve: I know you don't like this but let me ask you this. If you were in my position right now, wouldn't you want me to have your back on this?
(Y/N): Of course--
Steve: There ya have it.
(Y/N): [groans]
(Jonathan walks up to his car.)
Steve: Hey, man.
Jonathan: What's going on?
Steve: Nicole here was, uh, telling us about your work.
Carol: We've heard great things.
Tommy: Yeah, sounds cool.
(Y/N): *pinches the bridge of his nose*
Steve: And we'd just love to take a look. You know, as...connoisseurs of art.
Jonathan: I don't know what you're talking about.
(He tries to walk by them but Tommy takes his bag & tosses it to Steve.)
Steve: Man, he is totally trembling. He must really have something to hide.
(Y/N): Bro.
Steve: We're almost done here, (Y/N).
(Steve takes out the pictures Jonathan took of their party.)
Steve: Here we go. Oh, man.
(They all look at the pictures.)
Tommy: Dude.
(Y/N): This is weird.
Carol: Yeah, this isn't creepy at all.
Jonathan: I was looking for my brother.
Steve: No. No, this is called stalking.
(Nancy walks up to them.)
Nancy: What's going on?
Tommy: Here's the starring lady.
Nancy: What?
Carol: This creep was spying on us last night. He was probably gonna save this one for later.
(She hands Nancy a picture of her changing.)
Steve: See, you can tell that he knows it was wrong, but...Man, that's the thing about perverts...It's hardwired into 'em. You know, they just can't help themselves. So...
(Steve starts ripping some of the pictures to pieces.)
Steve: We'll just have to take away his toy.
Nancy: Steve...
Jonathan: No, please, not the camera.
(Tommy holds him back.)
Steve: No, no, wait, wait...Tommy, Tommy. It's okay. Here you go, man.
(He holds out the camera & as Jonathan is about to grab it, he drops it on the ground, breaking it.)
Steve: Come on, let's go. The game's about to start.
(They start walking away as Y/N looks at Jonathan.)
(Y/N): Sorry about the camera, man.
(He leaves to follow the group. Nancy notices Barbara in one of the pictures, takes some pieces of the ripped photos, & stuffs them into her bag before walking over to Steve. Cut to them waiting in a hallway.)
Carol: So, I told Mr. Mundy..."The solution of ten plus Y equals...blow me."
Tommy: Bull, if you did that, you'd be in detention right now.
Carol: Saturday.
Tommy: I bet Mr. Mundy's still a virgin.
Carol: Oh, he's so virgin!
Tommy: Maybe you should blow him, Carol. Help get your grades a bit.
(Y/N): Or, you know, you could study.
(Nancy starts walking away.)
Steve: Whoa, Nance, where are you going?
Nancy: I totally forgot. I told my mom I would, um...I would do something with her.
Steve: Well, what do you mean? The game's about to start.
Nancy: I'm sorry.
(Y/N): Wait up, I'll give you a ride.
Steve: No, (Y/N). You can't leave me too.
(Y/N): You know sports aren't really my thing.
Steve: We're on the swim team together.
(Y/N): Basketball then.
(He leaves with Nancy.)
Steve: The hell's wrong with them?
Tommy: Maybe she was freaked out when you went all psycho on the psycho. (Y/N) clearly wasn't up for it.
Steve: Oh, give me a break.
Carol: What'd you expect, dating Miss Perfect?
(Cut to Y/N & Nancy in his car.)
Nancy: You really didn't have to give me a ride.
(Y/N): Yeah, I know. I just don't want to be around them right now.
Nancy: I understand.
(Y/N): You know that excuse you gave was bullshit, right?
Nancy: It was the best I could come up with.
(Y/N): On the spot like that, probably. With that being said, I have to ask...
Nancy: Ask what?
(Y/N): You're...not cheating on Steve, right?
Nancy: What?! Of course not!
(Y/N): All right, all right. I believe you. I'm sorry.
Nancy: Stop the car.
(Y/N): There's no need for that. I aplog--
Nancy: Stop the car!
(He stops the car & Nancy walks out of it to inspect another car.)
(Y/N): And who's car is that?
Nancy: Barb's.
(Y/N): Oh...
Nancy: Barb? Barb!
(Cut to the duo in the backyard of Steve's house.)
(Y/N): What exactly are we looking for?
Nancy: Any sign of Barb.
(Y/N): Got it.
Nancy: Barb?
(Rustling is heard in the back so Nancy & Y/N investigate it. She's ahead of him.)
(Y/N): Barbara! Hm, Steve's parents should really put a fence around here. [sniffs]
Nancy: Barb!
(Suddenly a creature startles Nancy which gets Y/N's attention.)
(Imagine Y/N behind Nancy.)
(Nancy runs back as Y/N is about to chase after the creature.)
Nancy: (Y/N), come on!
(Y/N): Right behind you.
(Y/N's thoughts): I'll have to come back later.
(He drops off Nancy & she tells her mom that something happened to Barbara.)
Hours Later
(Y/N, while in his werewolf form, watches on ledge as police officers pull a body of a boy out of Sattler Quarry. The name of the boy whose body they're pulling? Will Byers.)
