Two weeks after the poisoning incident Jungkook made a surprise appearance at the cabinet meeting.The guards at the throne room allowed him in without a word.His presence in the room turned heads.Everyone who wasn't Taehyung bowed to him in respect.
"Your highness I have come to make an appeal as a mother not as the queen of this kingdom"
"Let me hear it"
"As you all know my infant son and the crown prince almost lost his life after being poisoned by a concubine.To prevent the incident from happening again I would like to have all the concubine dismissed.With immediate effect.My soul would never be at peace until they leave."
The cabinet were the first to react.Some of them were fathers of the remaining concubines.They started talking between themselves.They feared what would become of their daughters if they were to get dismissed.
"Your highness this isn't a simple matter..."The prime minister spoke up but the king cut him off midway.
"Who asked for your opinion.If you were in my place wouldn't you go to any lengths to ensure your son's safety.My son's life is under threat from the concubines so I will have them dismissed like the queen asked and that's it.My word is law.There is nothing you can do to change it"
"But what will become of our daughters.They won't be allowed to marry"
"I don't remember asking for concubines did I?You pushed your daughters onto me.Honestly I have no use for them"Taehyung said harshly
"Your majesty I would like to make a request as well"Jungkook said
"Please go ahead"
"If it's possible I would like it if you were to allow them to settle down if they wish to"
The cabinet gasped.They have never heard such a thing.Was Taehyung going to change tradition because Jungkook had asked him to.
"Your queen has a heart of gold.Don't you think.He wishes well for your daughters.Instead of becoming sex workers they would be allowed to get married"
"Your highness I implore you to grand me this one request of mine"Jungkook bowed
"Your wish is my command my queen.Nothing more would give me joy than seeing you happy"
"Your grace is immeasurable your highness"the father's of the concubines said in chorus while bowing
After lunch Jungkook went and sat on the pavilion while doing some drawing.He really felt at peace .It was as if everything that happened the last few days was a nightmare.
He spotted Jisoo and Mina.They were playing with Jeha from a distance.Jungkook felt his heart flutter just knowing that his son was surrounded by people who loved and care for him.Everyone he knew in the palace dotted on him.Jungkook became assured that his son would always be in safe hands even if he wouldn't be there one day.
While deep in thoughts the aunts brought Jeha to his mother.It was good to see his son healthy again.He couldn't believe that he had almost lost him.
"It doesn't seem like he misses me.Whenever I try to hold him he always wants to get away from me"Jungkook said with a pout.
"He is at that age where he wants to explore things around.You can't tie him down"Mina said
"He is growing too fast"
"I agree"
"I heard about the appeal."Jisoo started
Jungkook stiffened.He thought his sister in law was going to critisize him or something since they weren't on good terms.
"For once you have acted like a queen.It's about time you used your power.I have to say I'm amused "Jisoo said
"Now the fathers of those concubines will start hating you for driving their daughters out of the palace"Mina remarked
"Noona"Jungkook said and Jisoo scoffed
"Hating him is all they can do.Taehyung will never let anyone harm Jungkook.Just think about it.He fought with me because of him.Just think about what he would do to someone he already hates"
"Everyone can see that my brother in law is in love"Mina said
"Why do you say so?"Jungkook asked
"In history of our kingdom it has never happened that concubines were driven out of the palace.I mean all of them.This only proves that you have a hold on him.He really cares about your feelings as well as your safety"Mina said
"It's just too bad that my brother's love is misplaced.He is in love with someone who wants him dead.It's such a shame"Jisoo said tightly
"I'm really sorry for disappointing you and breaking your trust.I can assure you that it won't happen again"Jungkook said
"Better make sure it doesn't happen again.I promise you if you try something like that queen or not I will destroy you.Not even your husband will be able to save you from me"the princess uttered viciously
Jungkook swallowed dryly because of the sound warning.At least she had forgiven him.That was a start.
"Guys enough of this tension.Jisoo being angry doesn't suit you and I'm sure your brother is grown up enough to know whom he wants and doesn't want in his life.No offense.I'm not trying to defend my own brother here"Mina said
"Oh shut up"Jisoo rolled his eyes.
"Why don't we do something to loosen up the atmosphere.How about we go to the springs later.Just the three of us"Mina suggested
"You guys can go without me."Jungkook said
"Are you trying to avoid your sister in law or you have something planned with your husband.We know all about your secret meeting places."
"Noona that's not it"
"Don't lie to me.He hasn't visited your chambers and I know that you guys are craving to have time to yourselves after everything that has happened lately"Mina said mischievously
"Its nothing like that.I haven't spent time with Jeha.I hardly see him and he doesn't even miss me"Jungkook said
"Alright if you say so your highness"

Later that night Jungkook couldn't get any sleep.It had been the case since Lady Park died.The voices inside his head wouldn't let him sleep.
"You are worthless.Useless.The world doesn't need you.All you are good at is hurting the people who care about you.That concubine died because of you.You provoked her.Your innocent son was harmed because of you.You can never be happy because you are a son of a traitor and a murder.As if your father's crimes weren't enough you tried to kill your husband:the only man who has ever loved you.Just die already.Put an end to your miserable life.
"Jungkook"
The omega was surprised to see his husband besides him.
"I have been calling to you long enough.Couldn't you hear me?"Taehyung asked
"I'm sorry I just spaced out"the omega whispered
"I was coming to you.Where on earth are you going at this hour?"Taehyung asked.
"Just a walk your highness"
"Without any guards.It could be dangerous.Don't ever take such a risk again"
"I won't go "the omega whispered yet again.
"Let's go.I will walk with you"
"Taehyung I don't think it's necessary.Just forget it.Please"
"I'm not taking no for an answer.That's an order.I'm your husband.I'm not going to eat you"the alpha said
"Goodness.I shouldn't have said anything"the omega chuckled
"You really shouldn't"Taehyung said as he took the omega's hand into his own
"Do you have to hold my hand?"Jungkook asked
"Is that not allowed?"
"I really shouldn't try to argue with you"
"So where to?"Taehyung asked
"Just anywhere is fine"
"What's going inside your mind?"the king asked.
"I just don't want to live anymore ,Taehyung"
"That's not funny"the alpha said curtly
"I have no reason to live."
"That's enough.I won't listen to anything further"
"So why did you want to see me?"the consort asked his husband.
Taehyung stopped walking and side glanced the omega"Because I missed you"
"Taehyung.."
"Is it wrong to miss my spouse.Just because I love you doesn't mean you should force yourself to love me back"
"That makes me feel awlful"
"Don't'Taehyung squeezed the omega's hand and gave him a reassuring smile.
After going around the palace the pair came back and laid on Jungkook's bed in their undergarments.No one was thinking about sex that time.Jungkook always knew that whenever Taehyung comes to his room it's either he wants to see his son or to have sex but tonight was different.
"Don't you think our Jeha needs a sibling"the king asked
"Taehyung are you crazy?"
"What?"
"He is still too young and you can't expect me to get pregnant so soon.He isn't even two years yet"
"I didn't mean now but later in the future.He needs someone to play with"Taehyung said
"What made you have those thoughts all of a sudden"
"Nothing.Don't you think married couples have these conversations often.They talk about their future plans right?"
"Are you happy with me?"Jungkook asked out of the blue
"Happiness and love go hand in hand don't they?"
"The promise you made to me about Jeha.Please don't forget it.Always take good care of our son.Especially when I'm not there"
"Are you planning to go somewhere?"Taehyung asked
Jungkook didn't respond.He shifted on the bed and looked the other way.

Taehyung woke up in the middle of the night and found Jungkook gone.He asked the guards to search for him inside the palace but they got nothing.
The king thought of where Jungkook might go when he wants to be alone .His mind took him to the lake and a horrifying sight awaited him.
Jungkook was drowning himself in the deepest part of the lake.He saw how the waters buried the omega.His mind froze for a moment.Was this how he was going to lose the love of his life.
Without any second thought he ventured into the lake and swarm to Jungkook and rescued him.When he got to him the omega was unconscious.
Taehyung carried the omega out of the water and laid him on level ground.
"Jungkook please wake up.How could you do this to me"he pressed at the omega's chest a few times and even performed CPR but he got no results.He rubbed the omega's hands and cried his heart out.The omega's body had run cold and there was no pulse.
"I won't forgive you for this.If you wake up I swear I will lessen the punishment.No I won't punish you if you get up."
He tried to press the omega's chest one more time.Tears had clouded his vision and it felt like he was reliving the day his father breathed his last.
Taehyung placed Jungkook's head on his lap and started rubbing his hands.
"I can't lose you too.If not for me please wake up for Jeha.Do you want him to grow up without a mother.Is that fair.What's his fault.Tell me"he yelled
Taehyung wallowed in tears for ten minutes.All hope was lost but his heart didn't allow him to give up on the person he loved the most.He had stubborn faith.
He performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation one more time and Jungkook coughed.Finally.Water came out of his mouth and nose.He started breathing heavily
"Thank the heavens you are alive.What would I have done without you"Taehyung said in relief.
"Taehyung"the omega let out and the alpha's demeanor changed drastically.
"What in the world were you thinking ?How could you do something like that"he screamed at the omega
"Why did you save me?I told you that I don't want to live anymore.Can't you understand that?"Jungkook tried to raise his voice
"Why are you so selfish.Didn't you think about Jeha at least?"Disappointment was written all over his features.
"Why can't you hate me for trying to end your life?"the smaller asked
"I thought we were over that.I already forgave you didn't I?So what in the world are you going on about?"Taehyung asked ,his voice broken
"But I haven't forgiven myself. My father killed your father and I tried to do the same to you.How can you ever forgive that"
"What?"
"Its true.My father killed your father and tried to kill you too in order to sit on that throne"Jungkook said
"Who told you that?"the alpha king asked.
"Does that matter.It is the truth right"
"So you wanted to end your life for something you didn't do?Are you so narrow minded"
"I feel guilty.You shouldn't have slept with me.And I shouldn't have gotten pregnant.We can't be together.Its wrong"Jungkook said dejectedly
"And who is the judge of it?"the king asked.
Jungkook said nothing
"Its true that I hated you for being your father's son but as time went things changed.I fell in love with you and that's all that matters.Our present and our future is important.Not the past"
Jungkook started sobbing harder.Taehyung wiped the omega's tears away and looked at him with steady eyes.
"Henceforth don't try to do something like this.Your life might mean nothing to you but to me and Jeha you are everything.From now on your life isn't yours anymore.It belongs to Jeha and I.Only we will get to decide when you die"
"Not fair"
"Its an order.You don't have the right to say anything after letting me down"
Jungkook didn't breath a word.He allowed his husband to carry him back to the palace.He never looked at the omega all the way and it stung.
When they arrived Taehyung asked for a pair of new undergarments.He left after giving them to Jungkook.
The king had promised Jungkook that he wasn't going to hide the incident from their family because he needed help.Jungkook didn't sleep a wink until the sun rose because everyone was on his case.He got lectured by everyone including Sunhee.
