"What's up Sam" Robin answered the phone, "You guys get there okay"?
Dean had just finished up the impala and she was beautiful. The itch had become too much for him to bear, so he had packed Sam up and went after what looked like a satanic kill in Montana.
"Yeah, we got here fine" Sam replied, "Hey, you know a lot of hunters right"?
"Yeah" she replied, "A lot of them use the switchboard".
"Do you know Gordon Walker"?
Robin froze, "Yeah, I know Gordon, what about him"?
"We ran into him".
"Gordon works alone" she warned.
"He said the same thing" Sam replied, "There's something off about him, I'm not sure".
"I'm on my way" Robin snarled.
"What" Sam asked? "But you're ten hours away".
"I'll be there in seven" she replied, "Oh and Sammy, when he said he works alone, you should have listened".
She hung up the phone and started to pack a bag. She wrote a note for Bobby, he had already passed out for the night, which was probably good, because he never would have let her out of the house for this one. He would have used an iron chain on her to keep her away from Gordon Walker.
What's more, she needed her powers in full right now. Seven hours? She might have been able to make it there that fast on her bike, but would that be enough? It would weaken her, but she had to do it. "Portare, Porto, Impala" she whispered. She hit dirt, hard, right behind the impala. She threw up and started to black out just in time to see a tall man with a sack over his head be shoved in a car. "Sam" she whispered as everything went black.
"Hey sweetheart you doing ok"?
She felt herself being nudged by someone's boot, but she still couldn't move.
"Think she had a little too much".
She knew that voice, that was Gordon. Her eyes shot open, the other voice?
"Looks like".
"Dean" she gasped.
Dean leaned down and rolled her over, "Oh my god, Robin"
"Robin Singer" Gordon asked?
Dean picked her up and took her to their motel room. He helped her to clean up and get some water. She was still very much physically drained.
"What happened to you" Dean asked her?
"I don't know, I must've passed out" she shook her head.
"Where's Sammy" he asked?
"He's not with you" she asked?
Sam walked in the room,
"Can I talk to you two, alone" Sam asked, meaning Dean and Robin?
The three went to the parking lot, Robin stumbled, but she managed.
"Dean, maybe we've got to rethink this hunt" Sam started.
"What are you talking about?" Dean asked, "Where were you"?
"In the nest"
"You found it"?
"They found me, man"
"How'd you get out?" Dean asked, "How many'd you kill"?
"None".
"Well Sam, they didn't just let you go".
"That's exactly what they did".
"All right, well, where is it"?
"I was blindfolded, I don't know".
"Well, you've got to know something".
"We went over that bridge outside of town, but Dean, listen" Sam explained, "Maybe we shouldn't go after them".
"Why not"?
"I don't think they're like other vampires" Sam explained. "I don't think they're killing people".
"You're joking" Dean scoffed, "Then how do they stay alive? Or undead, or whatever the hell they are".
"The cattle mutilations" Sam explained. "They said they live off of animal blood".
"And you believed them"?
"Look at me, Dean. They let me go without a scratch".
"Wait, so you're saying... No, man, no way. I don't know why they let you go. I don't really care. We find 'em, we waste 'em".
"Why"?
"What part of 'vampires' don't you understand, Sam? If it's supernatural, we kill it, end of story. That's our job".
Robin's stomach turned at this point. She turned away and threw up again. But the argument continued.
"No, Dean, that is not our job" Sam shouted, "Our job is hunting evil. And if these things aren't killing people, they're not evil"!
"Of course, they're killing people, that's what they do. They're all the same, Sam. They're not human, okay? We have to exterminate every last one of them".
"No, Dean, I don't think so, all right? Not this time".
"Gordon's been on those vamps for a year, man, he knows".
"Gordon" Sam scoffed? You're taking his word for it? Ellen says he's bad news".
"You called Ellen" Both Dean and Robin said in unison?
"Shit" whispered Robin and went to puke again.
"And I'm supposed to listen to her"? Dean demanded. "We barely know her, Sam, no thanks, I'll go with Gordon".
"Right, 'cause Gordon's such an old friend. You don't think I can see what this is"?
"What are you talking about"?
"He's a substitute for Dad, isn't he? A poor one".
"Shut up, Sam".
At this point, Robin could barely speak, she needed water. She left the Winchesters to work out their family squabble and returned to the motel room to get a drink. When she got there, Gordon was gone. "Guys" she called over her shoulder.
She heard a slap and turned back to the parking lot "Guys" she shouted. They turned, "Gordon is gone".
They were quick to figure out that Gordon had been listening and had taken off to find the vamps himself. What's more he took the keys. After Dean successfully hotwired the impala, they took off.
"Now" Robin sighed, she was starting to feel better, "You may not listen to Ellen, but how about me"?
"What do you mean" Dean asked?
"What the hell do you think I'm doing here Dean" she asked? "Sammy called me and told me that you'd found Gordon. My first hunt, without dad, was with Gordon. If you don't believe Ellen, believe me, the guy is a psychopath".
"Nah".
"Dean" she snapped, "If he hadn't found monsters, this guy would be a straight up serial killer. You do this because you like killing monsters, saving people. He does it because he likes killing, and torturing, period. Monsters are just his out. I have never been so scared as I was when he took me hunting".
Sam and Dean exchanged looks.
"I am terrified of the guy" she explained, "But I care about you two asshats too much to leave you to him".
When they got to the farm, Gordon had a female vamp tied up. He was torturing her. He was dipping a dagger in dead man's blood, poison to vamps, and stabbing her with it. She was writhing in pain. Dean's tune changed quickly when he saw that Gordon was very calmly, almost gleefully torturing a vampire. He claimed he was doing it to get her to tell him where the others were, but admitted he was wasting his time, because she wouldn't talk. He took out a machete exclaiming, "I just sharpened it, so this is totally humane" as he prepared to decapitate her.
"Gordon" Sam Warned, "Let her go. I'm ending this".
Gordon pointed the blade at Sam's chest, "You're not doing a damn thing".
"Whoa" Robin cried and pointed her gun at Gordon.
"I hear ya. And I know how you feel" Dean started, "That vampire that killed your sister deserved to die, but this one- ".
Gordon laughed.
"The vamp didn't kill his sister Dean" Robin explained, "He turned her".
"See" Gordon smiled at Robin, "Thank you Singer" he turned back to Dean, "So I hunted her down, and I killed her myself. It wasn't my sister anymore, it wasn't human. I didn't blink. And neither would you".
"So, you knew all along, then?" Sam stated, "You knew about the vampires, you knew they weren't killing anyone. You knew about the cattle. And you just didn't care".
"Care about what?" Gordon asked, "A nest of vampires suddenly acting nice? Taking a little time out from sucking innocent people? And we're supposed to buy that? Trust me. Doesn't change what they are. And I can prove it".
Gordon grabbed Sam's arm and cut it. He pulled him to the Vampire and started to drip his blood on her face.
Both Dean and Robin now had their guns pointed at him.
"Let him go" Ordered Dean.
"Relax" Gordon replied, "If I wanted to kill him, he'd already be on the floor. Just making a little point".
Instinctively the vampire's fangs came out. She began hissing at Sam's bleeding arm.
"You think she's so different" Gordon asked? "Still want to save her? Look at her. They're all the same. Evil, bloodthirsty".
The vampire regained her composure and retracted her fangs, "No" she whispered, still in pain from the dead man's blood.
"You hear her, Gordon" Sam asked? "We're done here".
"Sam, get her out of here" Dean instructed.
Sam picked up the vampire and took her out of the house, Robin held the doors for him. She came back just in time to see Gordon punch Dean and throw him through a coffee table. Robin swept his legs, knocking him to the floor.
"What are you even doing here Singer" he asked, kicking her in the back of the knee and knocking her to the floor? He rolled her on to her back and started to punch her in the face, "You're no hunter, you don't have the stomach for it".
She pulled her knee up to his stomach and shoved him off as she rolled out. She got to her feet and kicked him in the jaw. He went flying back.
At this point Dean had regained his control and was now on top of him punching him in the face. He threw him into a cabinet, elbowed him in the face. Subdued, he started to drag Gordon across the room, he ran his head into a door frame "Oh sorry" he whispered.
Robin grabbed a chair, and quickly found some rope she tossed to Dean.
"You know, I might be like you, and I might not" Dean explained, "But you're the one tied up right now".
"You good" Dean asked Robin?
"I'll live" Robin said, spitting out blood.
"Jesus kid," He smiled at her, "You got moves".
"Not just a pretty face, "she laughed, "Now especially".
"Nah you're still pretty" he laughed.
"Yeah" she scoffed, "You too".
When the sun came up, they heard a car pull up. Gordon still sat tied to the chair, seething in anger.
Sam walked in, "Did I miss anything", he asked looking at the marks on both of their faces.
"Nah, not much." Dean replied, "Lenore get out okay"?
"Yeah. All of 'em did".
"Then I guess our work here is done" Dean turned to Gordon "How you doin', Gordy? Gotta tinkle yet? All right. Well, get comfy. We'll call someone in two or three days, have them come out, untie you". Dean jammed Gordon's knife in the table behind him.
The three left the house. Dean offered Sam a free shot at him for slapping him in the face.
"You look like you just went twelve rounds with a block of cement, Dean" Sam shook his head. "I'll take a raincheck. And you" he said to Robin, "It looks like he split your lip, do you need stitches"?
"Nah" she replied, "I'm fine. Dude is just lucky Dean tagged back in".
Sam laughed.
"No seriously Sam" Dean nodded, "Do not piss this one off". Dean looked off into the distance. "I wish we never took this job. It's jacked everything up".
"What do you mean" Sam asked?
"Think about all the hunts we went on, Sammy, our whole lives. What if we killed things that didn't deserve killing? You know? I mean, the way Dad raised us..."
"Dean" Sam explained, "after what happened to Mom, Dad did the best he could".
"I know he did. But the man wasn't perfect. And the way he raised us, to hate those things; and man, I hate 'em. I do. When I killed that vampire at the mill, I didn't even think about it; hell, I even enjoyed it".
"You didn't kill Lenore".
"No, but every instinct told me to. I was gonna kill her. I was gonna kill 'em all".
"Yeah, Dean, but you didn't. And that's what matters".
Robin listened intently to the conversation, she hung on every word. Sam was giving her the reassurance she had always wanted to hear from him. As for Dean, she wasn't sold, but if they were ever to find out, she was a lot less afraid of how they would react, and for now, that was enough.
"Ok, are we done with all the mushy bullshit" she asked, "I gotta get home. Bad enough Dad's gonna rip me a new asshole, I gotta listen to this too"?
"What are your thoughts on it Robin" Sam asked?
"My thoughts are I'm tired, I'm sore, I'm hungry, could we get some damn breakfast"?
