•Everyday ~ Ariana Grande ft. Future•
🎶Anytime I'm alone, I can't help thinking about you
All I want, all I need, all I see
Is just me and you🎶

Taking a few breaths, I placed my hands on the cold knob of the door to Mr. Lance's office. It's been a week and everything has been going smoothly for me ever since my return to school. There's only one thing in question and that was my chance to play in the finals.

Two days away and I needed an answer.

Yes, Coach Daniels told me that whether I play or not, it will not harm my placement at the University of San Diego. But I felt the need to prove that I deserved this and to prove that nothing could hold me back.

Exhaling, I twist the knob and open the door to Principal Lance's office.

There he was, sitting at his desk going over some kind of paperwork. The moment he heard me enter his office, he lifts his head from the papers up at me.

"Miss Santos, please, have a seat." He gives me a small smile while gesturing for me to sit down in one of the unoccupied chairs.

I sit down and laced my finger together while relaxing my shoulder to not look tense.

"I've talked to Coach Daniels and she had you signed some form. To monitor your behavior, correct?"

"Yes." I nod. "She told me that this is my better option in having some kind of chance in playing in the game."

He opens his mouth but I don't allow him to speak until I demand to play.

"Look, Principal Lance," I began, feeling a wave of confidence wash over me. "I will be one hundred percent real with and tell you that I don't deserve to sit out for the finals."

"Miss Santos-"

"I understand you think you're doing what is best for me as a student here but truthfully, you are holding me back from success."

He stares at me, silent. From there, I continue because there was no way I was backing down.

"What happened with me and Mercer in this school was a big miss understanding. We were fooling around, and yes, we shouldn't have been there but we are teens. Teens rebel."

Principal Lance sighs, shifting forward in his chair. "And I understand, Miss Santos, but that is no excuse nor is it enough to dismiss."

"I understand but what about the punishment we both received. It was two parties but in all honesty, I suffered the worst punishment. Does your board know about that?"

Okay, Gen. Slow down.

"Miss Santos," His tone changes to something serious. "Tread real carefully."

I should hear his warning but I don't.

"But I'm only speaking my truth. I think the punishment is unfair. Mercer's season was over and I am almost to my finish line. It's unfair that we both get suspended and I have to sit out of my game."

He goes to speak but hesitates. After a tense moment of silence, I think I've ruined any kind of chance of playing in the finals but I wasn't worried about it affecting my future because, after my long talk with the Coach and more research into the University of San Diego, I believe I was set.

The principal sighs. He pushes away to stand and walks over to one of the metal drawers. Pulling it open, he goes through files before taking out a sheet of paper. He returns to his chair and grabs a pen.

Risking a glance, I noticed the familiar sheet of paper that Coach Daniels had given me to sign. My brows lift in surprise at the fact that he was signing it.

Sliding the paper to me, he gives me a firm look. "You're still being monitored, Miss Santos."

Fine by me. As long as I got to play in the finals.

⋄ ✵ ⋄

"Goal!" Coach Daniel screams with excitement.

My thumping heart beats as excitement bubbles inside me. It felt good.

This was the last practice for the rest of soccer. Finals were in two days and I had zero doubts. We were going to win.

"Good job, ladies! We're going to kill it at the finals."

I take the back of my hand, wiping away the sweat that dripped down my face. That adrenaline feeling was the best I've ever felt. Coach's eyes winked at me knowingly and I smiled.

I proved myself to the Principal and demanded my spot to play in the finals. I deserved it.

"I expect all of you to bring your A-game. You all can hit the showers and can head on home. Rest up." She gives us all an encouraging smile before grabbing her duffle bag and walking off the field with her clipboard.

The team splits, going into their own conversations with their friends. I couldn't help but notice Sophia gather her belongings and walk off with the same sluggish look. I watched her silently walk off to an unrecognizable car. Just as she gets in, I catch sight of a familiar handsome blue-eyed man. A smile makes its way upon my face as I reached down and grabbed my bag.

"I got your text." He tells me, ignoring the girls that were watching as he made his way to me.

Sending Mercer a text and letting him know that I was able to play in the finals and was currently at practice was the best feeling in the world.

A little quick process but I was going to keep an eye on my surroundings until I was done with finals.

"Yeah?" My smile grows while walking to meet him halfway.

"And I wanted to congratulate my Red."

"How?"

He doesn't respond. Instead, his long tatted arms wrap around my waist and pull me flush against him. Without an ounce of hesitancy, he leans forward and places a sweet feather like kiss against my lips.

Smiling into the kiss, my bag drops off my shoulder to the ground before I wrapped them around his neck, kissing him back.

Groaning, he kisses me deeper not at all caring about who was around to see. His skillful tongue slips inside my mouth as his hands roam lower. The next thing I know Mercer's hands slip behind the back of my thighs, lifting me up into his arms.

Pulling away from him to catch my breath, I stare down at his handsome features unable to contain the smile that played on my lips.

That familiar flutter in my stomach returns again and I can't see anything but him. The heat of his intense gaze makes me all flustered. It gets so bad that I move my head and bury my face in the crook of his neck, inhaling his amazing scent.

Mercer always smells good.

"Always shy. He teased. His hot breath warmed the sensitive skin on my neck.

"I can't help it with you."

He hums, patting my bottom before allowing me to slide down his body. My feet meet the ground and just as I got grab my bag again, he reaches for the straps and places my bag on his shoulders.

"Come on," He brings me to his body, throwing his arm over my shoulder. "I'll walk you to your car."

Wrapping my arms around his torso, I walked with him off the field towards the student parking lot.

This beautiful development between Mercer and I was growing into something amazing. It was too good and it was true. I like Mercer.

I really like him.

"Why are you smiling like that?" Mercer's voice meets my ears.

"Nothing. You're just being sweet."

His brows furrowed at the silly word and I motioned to what he was currently doing. He was caring my bag and walking me to my car. This was his new and different. Something I was not complaining about.

I actually love seeing the soft side of Mercer.

His aggressive side was thrilling but at times like this, him walking me to my car and caring my soccer bag, I cherished these moments.

"You're my girl." That was all he said and honestly, it was answer enough.

My smile grows wider. Yes, I was his girl.

It was still crazy that we were together. If somebody would have told me that I'd have feelings toward Mercer Petrov, I would have laughed.

"She's making me start the game." I tell him, remembering Coach's words.

We stop just feet away from my car.

"You deserve this, you know that?"

And in this moment, I wanted to tell him about my acceptance into the University of San Diego but something about now just didn't feel like the right time to do so. This thing between us was still fresh and I was scared of the possibility of ruining things between us like the college talk.

A talk that was unavoidable between high school couples.

I always had questions and they changed now that Mercer was my boyfriend.

What happens after graduation?

What will happen to us if we go to different colleges?

Yes, he told me he sees us together in the future but things in life always happen unexpectedly. The world is unpredictable and scary.

"W-Will you come to my game this weekend?" I bite down on my bottom lip as my nerves go wild.

"Hell yeah. I want to see my Red kick some ass."

I couldn't help but laugh but allow my heart to jump in excitement.

I opened the back seat and Mercer placed my bag in the back before pulling me flush against him. Mercer likes to touch me. Something I was also becoming fully aware of.

"I'll send you the address." I say while lifting on my toes, placing a kiss on his lips.

"Alright," He nods, kissing me again. This time taking my bottom lip between his teeth.

The watch I had on my wrist buzzes and I pull away from Mercer to see my father was calling me. Sighing in disappointment, I look up at Mercer.

"I have to go."

"No offense, baby, but your dad is a cockblocker."

I gasped in shock but he doesn't let me soak in what he said completely when he kisses me again.

"Mercer." I murmur against his lips and he pulls away from me.

"What are you going to do at your game?" He questions, his blue orbs staring into my own. A dark glint in his irises.

I bite my lip to contain my smile but it was impossible to do so. "Kick the other teams' ass."

"That's my girl." He murmurs against my lips, kissing me and I couldn't help but melt against him once more as my happy bubble expanded to fitting around just the two of us.
