i lied but i really do have to stop writing so much my grades are terrible

It was Friday afternoon and I couldn't take Imani to Augusts house until Bey got off work. I wanted to take her as early as possible so I could have the night to myself but she was taking forever.
This is why I didn't want Imani to tell anyone. I can't even go there by myself anymore.
After Amir came home I knew it wouldn't be that long until she got here. I just hope she goes home to take a shower first.
While I was waiting I made Imani food, Lord knows what August feeds her over there.
Bey called me about an hour later. "Hello?"
"Hey, I just got out the shower so you can start to come whenever you're ready."
"I was waiting on you so I'm about to leave now. I'll let you know when I'm outside." I hung up and got all of Imanis stuff ready.
I cleaned Imani up a little bit because she's a messy eater and put her in her car seat. I remembered my way to Beys house so I didn't have to use a gps this time.
After I got to her house I called Bey again. "I'm outside."
"I'm not ready but the doors open so you can just come in."
"You leave your door unlocked?"
"I live in a good neighborhood and I knew you were coming."
"Don't do that anymore." Maybe I was just being paranoid but its better to be safe than sorry.
"Okay, come in." She hung up before I could.
"Imani you ready to see BeyBey?" I got our the car to get Imani out.
"This is where BeyBey lives?" She had the same reaction as me.
"I know right."
I picked her up and walked to Beys door. It was open like she said so I just walked in.
"Bey!" I walked closer to her room door but I didn't walk in, I learned my lesson.
"I'm not dressed, don't bring Imani in here."
Imani started saying stuff under her breath, Bey keeps playing with her.
"So you want me to come in?" That's what I got from what she said.
"If you want." She keeps pulling me's on me, I don't like that.
I gave Imani my phone and knocked on Beys room door. I just wanted to be extra safe.
"Come in!"
I opened the door and she was in boxers and a sports bra. "I don't know why I thought you were gonna be completely naked."
"And you still came in?"
"It's nothing I haven't seen before."
"You're nasty Onika."
"Can I see your closet?" I feel like it's just different colored sweatsuits lined up throughout her whole closet.
"No."
"Why not?" She already showed me forks so her closet can't be that big of a deal.
She ignored me and went into her closet. She started throwing stuff from her closet to her bed then came back out.
Me and her.. thing made eye contact for a second. I know I saw it when I walked in on her that one time but... Jesus.
She covered herself up like Marilyn Monroe in that white dress. "Stop looking at it like that."
"I wasn't- I'll just wait outside."
I left the room and sat down next to Imani. She was still using my phone so I couldn't do anything but watch what she was watching with her.
When Bey came out fully dressed Imani almost dropped my phone trying to run to her. Luckily I caught it, I just got the screen fixed.
"BeyBey! I missed you!" They just saw each other yesterday.
"I missed you more princess!" I love how Bey always matches her energy, she's basically a child so I don't think she has to do much.
While they were doing that, I got my stuff and went out to my car. This was already taking way longer than it had to because I had to get Bey.
Bey came out holding Imani and laughing. Instead of going to the other side she came by my window so I rolled it down.
"You don't want me to drive?"
"I got it."
"Yeah, but-"
"I got it. Do you know how car seats work or do you want me to put Imani in her car seat?"
"I got it." I think she was trying to mock me but I didn't really care.
She put Imani in the car seat and sat in the passengers seat.
Not even five minutes into the drive I could see Bey starting to fall asleep. "Are you really about to go to sleep?"
"I had a long night and morning. I was with my family until past midnight then, my workout this morning was extra crazy because I was drinking then, practice and that's like a second workout for me even though I'm the coach."
"You should've told me, I have no problem going without you." I feel bad, she's probably so sore and tired.
"You know I wouldn't let you do that. Do you know what would make me feel better though?"
"What?"
"A goodnight kiss before I go to sleep."
"I would but I think you ran out of kisses. Sorry."
"Onika I'm dying and you're worried about how many times you kissed me this week?"
"Stop being dramatic, I'll give you a kiss when I get to this red light."
I stopped at a red light and Bey excitedly sat up. "Imani close your eyes." I know she knows about Bey and I but I still think it would be weird to kiss in front of her.
"No!"
"Who are you talking to like that?" She must've lost her mind.
She huffed and crossed her arms. We were having a stare off, I'm not about to fight with my daughter over Bey.
"Um... I don't even want the kiss anymore, I'll just go to sleep." Bey leaned against the chair and closed her eyes.
"What's wrong Imani?" She's probably jealous, she gets that from me.
She didn't respond so I looked back for a second. "Oh you're ignoring me?"
"Yup."
"Oh really? Don't call me when you want to come home then." I was just playing but I can't believe she's ignoring me because of Bey.
She didn't say anything to me for the rest of the ride. I had to listen to Cocomelon and Bey snoring the entire time.
After I pulled into his driveway, I texted August that I was outside. He came outside in a hoodie this time.
Bey really fucked him up. He had a black eye and marks all over his face.
"I see your brought your bodyguard."
"She's sleeping, leave her alone. Just take Imani so I can go, we don't have to do this every single time." It's genuinely so exhausting.
"I'm taking you and her to court, my daughter doesn't need to be around that type of violence."
"Like the violence she sees every single time I come into your house? You're so- just go." I can't say what I want to say in front of Imani and Bey. Imanis seen more than enough.
"Carol called me the other day, she's doing good."
"That's unfortunate."
"You should go see her, not even trying to be funny. Don't be like me and regret it after it's too late."
I wanted do say fuck him and his dead ass mom but I would've been too wrong for that. He would probably reach through the window and give me a black eye like his.
"I would rather get back with back with you." His eyes lit up so I had to shut him down. "It'll be a cold day in hell before either of those things happen."
"We'll see. Bye Onika." He went to the backseat and got Imani, she ended up falling asleep too.
Bey must've really knocked some sense into him, this is the first time I'm leaving his house without any type of injury. We even kind of had a normal conversation.
I started driving to Beys house, she needed sleep in an actual bed.
She didn't wake up the entire car ride so after I pulled into her driveway I started to lightly shake her.
"Hmm?" She still had her eyes closed but she was smiling. Nobody should smile as much as she does.
"We're at your house. Get up so you can go to sleep."
"Can I have that kiss now?"
"Mhm."
She sat up and without realizing, she put her hand around my neck to pull me closer.
I quickly moved her hand and backed away. "The rules. No choking."
"Shit, sorry I didn't even realize I was doing it. I'm really sorry."
"It's fine." I pecked her lips for less than a second. "Bye."
"Do you wanna come inside?"
"I have things to do and I have to make dinner for Amir, sorry. I'll see you tomorrow though."
"Right, our dinner. I'll see you then, bye Onika." She got out of the car and jogged to her door.
Before she closed the door she waved and I waved back before driving off.
