"I have an important meeting. I will see you later" Sunny threw his best card to make safe escape
"This meeting is more important right now" Virat held cap of his hoodie to pull him back. Sunny surrendered he knew he can't be spared when he willingly jumped into pool of fire for the sake of friendship.
"Park your scooter first" said Sunny,
He tried hard to smile. May be Sai's terror led him to imagine Sai riding her scooter over them while they lie in the middle of the road screaming for help.
"Virat, I think you should talk to her first. I guess I shouldn't go" Sunny tried made yet another attempt
"Don't even think of running" Virat warned
Sai came back to them she still didn't had any clue of the master plan. Though she could guess it was something not so pleasing looking at their sweating faces.
"What's the matter? Is there something wrong Sir? Any matter with the house?" He asked to Sunny
"Let's sit somewhere. I will tell you everything" Virat calmly said
"Let's go to my terrace" Sai suggested
Sunny imagination gone even wilder, he feared to get smashed by the plant pots. "Nahi!!! Not on terrace. There are so many plants. Let's go to my house it's nearby" he loudly said
Sunny unlocked the door and immediately bought a glass of ice cold water and cold drink with ice cubes floating on the top and offered to Sai.
"Please have some" He went to sit in the utmost corner of the Sofa.
"Baat kya hai?" Sai asked again. Pitch dark silence prevailed on the tenth floor.
"How do you know each other?" She innocently asked
"We are school friends" Virat replied
"School friends? You never told me? You weren't in touch and met just now?" She guessed
"No! We are quite good friends" he corrected
"Oh! How come you never mentioned about him? I didn't even saw you both talking to each other?" She interrogated
"Because we presented it that way" Virat replied
"It's good. But why do you look so serious?" She doubted
"I asked him to rent that house to you" Virat took a deep breath and confessed
"Matlab?" She confusingly asked
"It was all my plan I requested your former landlord to make an excuse to vacate the house from you. I also asked him to give Sunny's number to you"
"Virat bought that house for you and specially designed . . . " Sunny mended in. Virat gestured him to stay silent.
"I didn't want to lie but I didn't have any other choice. So I had to use other means" Virat justified
"When he said that his son is returning from US?" Sai remembered
"It was all lie" Virat said
"And you sent Sunny Sir to fool me?? How can I be this stupid! I should have think of it when you first met in this apartment! All this while you were playing with me?" Sai heavy heartedly said
"Sai! Virat didn't meant to do harm. His intentions were always to help you" Sunny defended
"I am talking to Virat sir! Why didn't you told me?" She asked
"If I did. You would have never let me do it. I just wanted to help" Virat explained
"Did I ever asked you for that? You were helping me like this? Using tactics and plans?" Sai said. It was hard for to accept that the one whom she started trusting blindly was hidding something so big from her.
"I was being happy about our friendship. But all this while you were just trying to fulfil your responsibility. Right?!" She said with a smile, hiding her unconsciously hidden broken hopes.
"You are misunderstanding! Tell me if you knew it was my house. You would have never accepted to shift. Isn't it much safer and comfortable than your previous stay?" Virat tried to convince
"You should have told me afterwards. At least I wouldn't have felt like this?"
"Felt like what? Nothing has changed! I am still your friend" Virat said
"I feel cheated!" She said
"Just because I didn't told you about the house. I became cheater for you?" Hearing that word was painfully shocking for him
"Sai!! It was his concern for you. It's justified for you to get angry but you can't call him that. He selflessly did all this for you. It was me who actually hide the facts" Sunny advocated
"I don't care about anyone else. Neither I know them or nor you. But I knew you Virat Sir. . . You hide that from me for so long. You have enough time and occasions to tell me but you didn't." Sai questioned
"I am accepting my mistakes. I should have told you. I am ready for any type of punishment for you to forgive me" Virat politely said
"We aren't in a school that I will give punishment to you" Sai sternly said
"Why else are you hiding?" She asked
"What are you thinking about him? Whatever he did is for you. He wanted to see you happy " Sunny tried to explain. It was unbearable for him to see his friend getting accused like that. He has been there in in those dark toughest. He knew how selflessly Virat did everything just to see that one smile on her face.
"Sunny. . . No!" Virat stopped him
"I am Sorry. Believe me I am really thankful for whatever you did for me. Truly I am. It's just that I misunderstood few things in my mind. My mind was messed up now I can clearly see everything. Thank you for all your help, Virat Sir" Sai formally said
"I know you won't believe me whatever I say now. So take your time. I will wait for you" Virat assured
"I have already understood Virat Sir. I have some things to do. I will leave now" she walked out
Virat's vision immediately blurred because of the layer of salty tears. Virat's fear was turned into reality. He was ready for Sai to argue with with, shout at him, scold him but she left in much silence.
"Let me go and talk to her" Sunny offered
"Haven't you heard what she said? She don't know you. She knew me, her Virat Sir, the one who indirectly lied to her" Virat replied
"But bhai at least go and talk to her. Explain your stance" Sunny said
"Nahi, it will have no effect" Virat said. He knew no one can make Sai listen to something against her will. And at that movement she might not even like to hear his name.
"What are you thinking to do now?"
"Wait." Virat said and left
Sai came back to her house suddenly the same home was feeling familiarly unknown to her. She felt like a stranger in her own house. She was hurt not because he lied to her it was something else that was hurting her more. She was unable to understand what was bothering her so much. She was getting used to Virat's concern and care for her. The sudden blow of lie had shaken her unconscious hopes of having a special place in Virat's heart. She felt he did everything for the sake of responsibility.

Apologies for late update. Actually I had spine surgery in December, I am not allowed to bend my neck much so I was using voice typing. Since last three-four days I am having sore throat. That's the reason for delayed updates and not replying to your comments. I usually don't like to talk about these things. But you all wait for the updates so I thought of letting you all know.
