"Virat??" Sunny saw Virat coming down from the stairs
"Where are you coming from at this time?" He interrogated
"Oh!! I was just coming to meet you" Virat excused
"Virat, you are coming from upstairs" Sunny doubted
"I had some important thing to discuss from Sai" he tried to convince
"At 6 in the morning?" Sunny asked
"Ha it was something urgent. You are going to open your shop, no? You must be getting late. I will see you later" Virat shied away
Sunny knew there was something he was hiding. He spared him for the moment as he very well knew Virat will come back to him sooner or later.
Virat came back home. He was smiling by looking at his reflection in the mirror while buttoning his shirt.
Ashwini was looking at his broadening smile from the door.
She wanted to know the reason of this sudden change in her son. When she saw him last night he aggressively walked out of the house and in the span of few hours he is mysteriously smiling in his own.
"Oh! Aai, please come" He responded back to her third call.
"I bought breakfast for you here, Puran Poli ani Sabudana Kichdi your favourites." she said
"Have you eaten?" He asked.
"I will do it after everyone" she replied.
"Come have with me" he took tray from her
"Aai, it's been so many days. Feed me with your hands" he innocently requested
"Kya baat hai Godu? Why you got so angry on such small thing? It's normal for everyone to talk about marriage at this age. I have never seen you declaring things like that in front of Vahini. You didn't even come back home for whole night?" She asked
"I am sorry Aai! You must be worried about me" he quickly realised his mother might be worried for whole night for him
"Where have you been? Must be at Sunny's place" she guessed. He didn't want to lie but couldn't even say the truth. He smiled in response
"This puran poli!! It's very tasty, Aai" he excused. Who can act smarter than mother?
"What magic did Sunny cast on you? You look quite happy now?" She smilingly asked
"I realised I over reacted" he said
"How's is your Kamal's sir daughter? Sai na?" She asked out of context
"She is good. I mean she is doing fine" he replied sticking his eyes to his plate
"You meet her often. How's her studies?" She asked
"I happen to. My gym is in her apartment. I told you" He replied
"So, you have told her about that apartment?" She inquired
"Not yet" he anxiously replied. It was something he has almost forgotten
"Godu! I said this earlier as well. You should tell her." She emphasised
He hummed in response. He too wanted to tell her but the fear of going back to square one was haunting him. It took him day night to reach up to that stage. What if she started hating him again? What if she asked him to break all the ties with him? Will he be able to bear staying away from her now? His heart wasn't that strong to bear her hatred again. But he knew sooner or later even she will come to know if not by him by some other means. Truth can't be hidden forever. He sternly decided to tell her though he wasn't sure about the time.
A week passed, because of workload that decision blurred in his mind. Or he was knowing delaying it out of an unknown fear in his heart.
One night he was sitting in the balcony obviously with a cup of someone's favourite Green Tea. He was enjoying the current phase of his life. The same thing was still revolving around his mind, why he ran to Sai that day? He could have gone to Sunny but he didn't even think of him at the moment.
The reason of both his agitation and calm called
"Yes, Sai" he amusingly said
"Do you have some time? I just remembered why I called you that day." Sai happily said
"Accha! To batao fir?" He elatedly asked
"I am thinking to buy second hand scooty. I have seen few. I was saving from last few months. I need your help to be my guarantor" she excitedly asked
"Don't buy second hand. What if it broke down in the middle and you got stuck" Virat said with concern
"Aree, nahi it's in very good condition. Just tell me you will help me or not" she assured
"I will meet you tomorrow then we will discuss. Okay?!" he replied
"Dada, you haven't slept yet?" Mohit came to sit beside him
"Mohit, sit" Virat said
"How come you are still awake? You used to sleep at 10?" he asked
"Just" Virat replied
"I met your Sai" Mohit said
"When???? Where and how????" he asked, shockingly
"Few days back, I went to donate blood." Mohit answered "She is really great" he added with a smile
"How did you recognise her?" he asked
"Your vivid explanations were enough for anyone to recognise her in a second" Mohit said. Both laughed a bit
"How's everything between you now?" Mohit asked
"fine!!" he replied
"But your expression says it's much more than fine" Mohit chuckled. Virat responded with a smile
"Did something happen during your trip?" he asked. Virat immediately remembered that night walk with her along with that hug on the lake side
"We became good friends" Virat replied, avoiding an eye contact
"Are you sure it's just friendship? Because from where I am looking it isn't looking like that, at least from your side" Mohit suspected
"What are you saying??? What can it be other than friendship between me and her?? Do you even realise what you are saying?" Virat agitated
"I am realising everything. It's you who need to realise" he
Strongly said. Virat's mind wasn't ready to look up to that depth.
"Anyway, it's good if you keep it as friendship only." He said. No one knew their family better than him. In just one meeting he had seen the fierce fearless side of Sai. He was scared to let her trapped in the namesake responsibilities and customs.
Virat was in a state of dilemma his subconscious mind could understand what Mohit was trying to convey but his intellectual brain wasn't letting him to do that.
"You should tell her about the apartment" Mohit said by touching his shoulder and left.
Everyone around him was repeating the same thing to him. Time has really come for him to confess the truth?
