That morning when everyone woke up, everybody seemed happy to see me and I was glad no one else got hurt or injured that bad, besides Clint and I. But the question in everybody's faces was how Hydra had gotten to us? How were they able to enter the compound and it's whereabout without being noticed? And only one person would be able to answer us that. Also thinking back about last night I wondered if Maria was okay.
"Does anyone have news about Maria? She was badly injured yesterday." I asked as we were all sitting around the round table of the conference room, waiting on my uncle,
"I saw her being transported to the med Bay Area but I don't know anything else." Nat said, from beside me, she was holding on to my hand. I think she had a scare yesterday and she didn't need to tell me about it, I could feel it radiating from her. So I was there and sat next to her, and tried to soothe her soul the best I could while we were waiting for answers.
The door then opened and we were all waiting to see uncle Nick, but Loki appeared, looking in every direction until he spotted me and took long strides to reach me, when he did, he literally lifted me up from the chair and hugged me tightly. I saw the boys all around us stand up in a fighting stance, probably afraid of what he was going to do to me, until they saw he was hugging me,
'Thank Odin you are okay.' he said through mind link, I smiled a bit and wrapped my arms around his frame, he was skinny but God was he tall,
'I am fine Loki, thank you for worrying about me.' I replied, it probably was weird for everyone watching us, we were in each others arms and no-one was saying a thing,
'I tried to contact you all night through your mind but there was no way! You've become good at this, almost as good as me.' he tease a bit and I let out a laugh, that earned me a couple of weird stares,
'You're like the little sister I always wished for but never had, I couldn't loose you. Also Odin would have my head if anything happened to you' he laughed a bit, I chuckled, which earned us some weird stares again.
'Well thank you for your preoccupation Loki.' I pulled away and kissed his cheek, we let go of each other and he went to sit in the back having his resting mad man face back on, and the faces of everyone around us was really funny, but all the fun stopped once uncle Nick appeared,
"I see that everyone is already here for once, even mischief over there." he said pointing at Loki, I tensed a bit, what was wrong with him today,
"Cut the crap Fury, what happened last night should've never happened!" Tony started, already getting up and getting frustrated,
"Calm down Stark." was all uncle Nick said,
"I will not calm down Fury! You have put all of our lives in danger but that's not even the worse, we have a kid here, Aly and I have Pepper, this sort of thing cannot happen!" he yelled again, I mean he wasn't wrong, the man had a point,
"Don't you think I know all this?!" Nick barked back, Tony took a deep breath and sat back down, shaking his head, probably counting to 10 at least five times to calm his nerves.
"We had calculated all the risks before letting this happen." he said nonchalantly, I looked at him and I froze,
"Before you... let that happen?" I said through gritted teeth, Nat putting her hand on my shoulder,
"Wait, so you knew?" Sam asked, bewildered, as the rest of us,
"You knew this would happen and you didn't even think of letting us know!" Bruce said, he was starting to get angry, not green angry but angry nonetheless,
"Of course I knew, how else do you think it was that easy for them to come in?" he said, and I could swear I was starting to see red,
"You put us all in danger and you knew?" Steve said getting up,
"It's your job, this is what you signed for Captain Rogers." he replied back, couldn't believe his guts right now,
"This makes no sense." Thor starts to rub his temples,
"We may have signed for this life, but not in our homes and overall not where our families are." Wanda said, her eyes turning a crimson red colour, I couldn't blame her honestly,
"Calm down sister, there must be an explanation." Pietro said, putting his hand on her arm, she just shook her head,
"So what was the plan?" I asked, as nonchalantly as he was acting, crossing my arms,
"First it was to let them enter so we could get the doctor who participated in making, whatever it is they made, to James' arm." he said and I just zoned out for a second, something didn't seem right, on so many levels but something was really wrong with Nick,
"And getting your Goddaughter shot was a part of it?" Bucky asked through gritted teeth,
"What-" all of a sudden it made sense, he didn't know what Bucky was talking about, because he wasn't Fury, I got up as fast as I could, and jumped at his throat making him fly against the wall.
"Mia what are you doing?" I heard from behind me, I was holding onto 'Nick' with a strength unknown to me, but I was holding him,
"Let me go!" he started to scream,
"It's not him." I tell them all, my eyes still on 'Nick',
"What are you talking about?" Tony said, approaching me,
"He doesn't know who his Goddaughter is. He's panicking and there's something else I can't point my finger on." I tell them, Steve appeared next to me,
"And also he called Bucky, James, he always calls him Sergeant Barnes." I continue to prove my point,
"Loki come here." I called my cousin,
"Can you feel it too?" I asked him and he looked deep into 'Nick's' eyes and looked back at me nodding,
"You fools, it's me stop this instant!" he said again, but he was lacking a lot of confidence,
"Hold him for me." I asked Loki, and with is power he held him strongly against the wall, I took a step back and looked at 'Nick' once again. I concentrated and sparkled were forming all around my body already, I opened my eyes and looked at him again, I concentrated and entered his mind.
Let me tell you how right I was.
Third Person POV
"What's happening?" Sam asked,
"She's in his head, she sees and feels everything. It can hurt some people but my best guess would be that she is hurting him on purpose." Loki said, looking back at Mia, who was glowing and had her eyes turn a very light shade of purple,
"Do you think she's right?" Bruce asked, over the screams of the wannabe Nick,
"Well I would bet my life on it." Nat said,
"Mental torture is the worst kind of torture." Bucky said slowly in his own corner,
Mia's POV
He was an Hydra agent that had been modified to look and sound like Uncle Nick, he had orchestrated the whole thing.
I could hear screaming, but still I didn't stop.
I could see everything, wars they had started. The plans they made, even some plans against us that thankfully we were able to undo and win against them. I saw how they had the idea to make a fake Fury, and how they got to transform this imposter into Nick. To how they managed to kidnap Nick and where he was. Thank God I knew where he was. Now I needed the last bit of information, there obviously were some Hydra agents disguised as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, but who were they? I got to pass by one of his memories. The screams didn't stop and honestly I didn't know what was happening to the guy, I was way too concentrated to care. The memory was of a meeting, with a lots of people, on the table was a file with the Hydra logo on it and as they talked, I understood it was a meeting in order for those Hydra agents to become S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. I had every single photo and faces now in my head. Crazy to think I had even walked by some of them without noticing anything wrong. It drove me mad.
I got out of my trance and looked back at everyone, the wannabe Nick was still screaming,
"Wait if you're not torturing him, who is?" Loki asked, and that's when I turned to Wanda, she had her eyes red and she was unstoppable, she wanted him to suffer for a reason.
"Wanda, hun, stop that." I asked her kindly, but she wouldn't budge, she had tears in her eyes,
"Wanda I know, I saw everything but please stop. We need him alive... for now." I told her trying to reason with her but still there was nothing to do, I looked around and Pietro nodded at me, I lifted my hands, praying that I wouldn't use too much power on her,
"Wanda Stop!" I said louder, sparkles leaving my hands and touching her, instantly she was back to her own self, and fell into Pietro's arms, I ran to her.
"I am sorry, I had to. You were going to kill him." I tell her holding her hand, she just nodded,
"I'm sorry too, I don't know what came over me." she said and then sat back down and drank her water, I turned back to them and with a flick of my hand the guy fell unconscious.
"You just killed him!" Sam whispered yelled, I rolled my eyes,
"No you clown, if I didn't let Wanda kill him, it wasn't for me to kill him right after. I just knocked him out. I know everything and everyone who is involved." I told them, and then started to explain everything to them. We later prepared a plan and we were all ready to get Nick back.
The plan was divided in 3 parts. 1st try and act as normal as possible because if just one of the false S.H.I.E.L.D. agents would suspect anything we could probably kiss uncle Nick and our whole plan goodbye. 2nd it was to plan to take each and every one of the HYDRA agents down, I let everyone choose how they want to take them down, it can be knocking them out and putting them in cells, giving them a really horrible time and put them in cells, or just get it over with. The 3rd part of the plan, was the most important one and it would only work if we were able to get two first parts right. In the long run it could take time, we didn't know if we had to take them all down at once or if we had to go one by one sporadically so there wouldn't be any suspicion. So right now we were still defining how to take them down. We knew where uncle Nick was but we didn't know in what type of conditions he was being held hostage and if he was still even alive.
"I am just saying, you turn invisible, you pay them a visit at night and that's it." Tony said, going to the bar and pouring himself a drink, I looked at him and everyone else and they all looked like they were liking the idea,
"So you want me to do it? Alone? In one night? Like Santa?" I asked him and he shrugged, I could swear I heard Sam snort.
"I mean we could all be waiting outside each and every door to do the heavy work." Said Loki, and I just raised and eyebrow at him, he just smirked... of course,
"And what do I do? Kill them?" I asked and that's when everyone turned to me with wide eyes,
"What? It's a relatively normal question, I am not gonna go there and make friends and then ask them to come with me nicely. God knows if they have any tracker or emergency buttons that they can activate and let the others know that we know." I tell them,
"Or even worse a fake tooth full of cyanide that they could activate and die instantly like they use to do during the war." Steve said, and Buck just nodded,
"We do have an advantage because they don't know that we know." Vision said, and poor Thor looked a bit confused for a quick second, and I tried to hide a laugh,
"What do you think Bruce? I can hear you think from here and it's getting difficult not to get in your head." I told him, and he just smiled weakly,
"Well, I was thinking that I could prepare a sort of liquid that you could inject each and everyone of them with, and it would completely numb them and get them unconscious." He said, using his pointer finger to push his glasses up his nose,
"Do you already have the liquid?" Steve asked, being all Captain America and stuff,
"I do but it's far from being finished, the sedative inside is way too powerful, I haven't been able to work on it properly in order to reduce the time of unconsciousness." He said scratching the back of his head,
"How strong is the sedative and how long can they be unconscious for? With the product being how it is now." I asked him, my palms were getting sweaty, we were Sunday morning and I couldn't help but think about finding uncle Nick, get things sorted out with Peter and my coronation, to which we should all be getting ready for, since we would be leaving Tuesday morning.
"10 days." He says letting a deep breath out,
"So they will be out for 10 days straight? Won't they die or something? From not being fed and not going to the toilet?" Clint asked, he had a point,
"We can always get them an IV, where they could get all they need to survive and then for the going to the toilet part we could find a solution." He said to which I nodded,
"Or we could just kill them. It's less trouble?" Said Nat, I turned to her and raised an eyebrow,
"We are supposed to be different, I know, I know." She said, putting her hands up in mock surrender.
"I don't want to pressure anyone it's just that, we have to act fast, and find Fury, get rid of the rats walking around our compound and prepare for Mia's coronation." Bucky said, it was the first time he had said something since the beginning of the meeting.
"So we can't wait for tonight?" Wanda asked.
"Unless we change the order of our plan. We go get Nick with Wanda and Nat. Cover it as a girls trip to the mall, or whatever. We try and keep him in the safe house for the night and then we come back and take them down tonight and hopefully by dawn Nick will be there and we will have gotten rid of the double agents." I said a little bit more hopeful that the plan was gonna work.
"And we could even ship them back to HYDRA as a nice gift. They will still be out for ten days but that wouldn't be our problem anymore if they implode due to their bladder being too full." Nat said, and everyone agreed on the new plan.
Before going out we memorised the plan again, and urged everyone who was staying at the compound to act normal, hopefully everything will go as planned, for once.
We made our way out of the meeting room and managed to go and do our own things, I had to call Laura at the very last minute for her to come pick Aly up, at the moment she was the only person I could trust with Aly and overall she wouldn't be at the compound and that would be a relief.
As soon as Laura came and took Aly with her, Wanda, Nat and I started to talk about our outing, and where we would be, so if anyone would listen they wouldn't suspect a thing. We all went to get ready and I for this kind of mission preferred to take one of Nat's suit just like the last time that it was the three of us, it's more discreet. I put it in my bag and got ready to go out, wearing a simple jean, a big fluffy sweater, a winter coat and some black boots. As I made my way outside my room, someone opened the door quickly and closed it, I was taken aback at first but then quickly realised it was Bucky.
"Buck you okay? What are you doing here?" I asked him and he just looked at me.
"I can go instead of you, I mean you were shot, you're not ready to go back and fight." He said, and I place my hand on his metal arm,
"Hey I am okay, don't worry about me. Everything will be fine and look." I said pulling up a little bit my sweater where the gun shot had hit me,
"Everything is gone, I am healed, it's gonna be fine okay?" I asked him and he just looked frustrated and terrified but nodded all the same,
"Don't do anything stupid while I'm gone." I tell him teasingly, a smirk on my face, as I opened the door,
"How could I, when you're taking all the stupid with you." He said and even smiled, I looked at him once again.
'It's gonna be fine, and if you need me call me or think real hard about me I am sure I'll be able to hear you.' I tell him through mind link, and he just nodded and smiled. Nat and Wanda approached my room, Nat giving her weird side eye look at Bucky but as soon as he left, she faced me and had her normal face back on.
"Ready to go shopping?" She asked me and Wanda, faking excitement,
"Yes, I was born ready." I tell her smiling, we locked our arms together, and the three of us made our way outside of the compound. At that moment I was praying that everything would go smoothly. I was ready to kick some ass and get my uncle back.
