Christmas morning
I woke up in Fezco's comfortable bed, and i can't believe i'm saying this but i actually missed his galaxy sheets and pillows.
We didn't do anything at all last night. We didn't even kiss. It was honestly eating me alive, but last night we had a talk and said it'd be best for us to stay friends until i'm like fully clean. Which i get because i've only been clean for like 2 weeks and Fez doesn't want to jump back into something too soon. The idea of just being friends sucks but deep down i think we both know that's not really the case.
I slipped out of the covers and made my way to his closet. After our break up i never came back for my shit. I was to sad to come and get it so it all stayed. He left it all in the same place. Thank god because i wanted to change into sweatpants. Last night i slept in... nothing. It's not my fault i get hot really easily.
I threw on a pair of grey sweats that are probably Fezco's but i took them and kept them in my drawer. Then i put on a black tank top. I made my way to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. When i was done I could hear voices in the living room but one of them didn't sound familiar.
So of course i hid in the hallway to get a good listen.
"Look i'm not tryna tell you what to do, but if you're taking things slow then she shouldn't be sleeping in your bed." I swear to god, i know today is supposed to be sentimental but if this is Mae i am going to set East Highland on fire.
"I know... it's just hard to not be around each other. I like being around her." I heard Fezco respond.
"Honestly i think you guys just need to take things extra slow, especially since she's like an addict. With what you told me, of her lying about being clean and stuff, i think it's really toxic to even go back. It really effected you, and she's not good for you if she's going to bring unnecessary drama in your life."
"Yeah." Was the one fucking word that came out of his mouth. I'm not good for him? I'm unnecessary drama? Mae doesn't even fully know our relationship. Yet here she is playing the love doctor. I wasn't fucking with it at all. I know i'm not perfect, but who is she to be the one to say that.
The day just fucking started and my whole mood was already down the drain. I know i'm sensitive but damn, who knows a strangers thoughts on you could really make you rethink everything about you.
I played it off as if i was getting coffee from the coffee maker in the kitchen. I made sure to be a little louder with grabbing a mug and closing cupboards.
That's when Mae's bitch ass stopped talking.
"Good morning." I heard Fez call out from the couch.
"Morning." i respond back, not even looking their direction. I'd do anything to put some alcohol in this coffee. I adjusted my coffee to my liking and headed towards the living room with my coffee mug.
I made direct eye contact with Mae as i sat on the opposite couch from the one they both were on.
"Mae came to visit." Fezco mentioned.
"I see." i glance over at the clock on the wall.
"Pretty early visit." my eyes stayed glued on the clock.
"Yeah... well i'm a morning person." she played it off with a laugh.
I just made myself comfy on the couch and stared in her direction. I watched as she shifted in her seat. I could easily tell she was uncomfortable with my presence. As she should.
There was a knock at the door. "Be right back." Fez stood up and headed towards the door. He was so ready to up and leave, that's how awkward it was.
Oh god. The tension in this living room was honestly entertaining to me. I could easily tell Mae did not like me at all. She was side-eyeing the shit out of me. For a girl who has a boyfriend, she seems real invested in Fezco's love situation.
We didn't speak one fucking syllable to each other. I just sipped my coffee in peace and waited for Fezco.
"Merry fucking christmas." Rue came rolling into the house with a burst of energy.
I watched as Rue joined me on the couch. "Hey Aster." she smiled.
"Hey Rue." i smiled at her happiness.
"Sooo uhh what y'all doin?" Rue questions while looking at Mae, then at Fezco and then back at me,
"Uhh not much. Mae just came to say hi. Aster's stayed over to celebrate Christmas Eve with Ash and I." Fezco answered.
"Wait you stayed the night?" Rue glanced over at me. "Oh are y'all back together?" she switched back and forth between us.
"Nope." i immediately answered before taking another sip of my coffee.
"Oh." As if the tension wasn't thick enough, it got even thicker. I mean it's true, we're not.
I didn't even pay no mind to Mae or Fez. My eyes stayed glued on Rue. She was probably the only thing stopping me from popping off on Mae.
"Yeah anyways.... i'm here for some OCs. Please and thank you, Fez."
"Rue? Foreal?" Fezco let out a sigh.
"Come on, Fez. It's Christmas. It's the time to spread some holiday cheer so give me some oxy." she smiled over at Fez who was completely over her shit.
"I'm only doin it because its christmas." He huffed in annoyance and headed towards the hallway to grab it from the supply closet.
I went and set my coffee down on the table.
"Here." Fezco handed her a small bag.
"Thanks." she gave him an appreciative smile before sitting down in the floor to use the coffee table.
"Rue, it's like 10 in the morning." i pointed out but she didn't give a fuck.
"So are you guys going to that New Years party everyone is talking about?" Rue glanced over at us while simultaneously crushing a pill on the coffee table.
"Yeah." Fezco replied.
"Yeah i'm going too." Mae responded while staring straight at me.
It still bothers me that they are on the same couch. They might have a big distance from each other but it bothered me. Everything bothered me. It bothers me that Fezco agreed with everything Mae was telling him. Is that how he really feels about me? That i'm just a toxic addict that brings unnecessary drama in his life? As if his was peaceful to begin with. Because if that's the case why even try to make this work?
"You want some or are you still tryna get clean?" Rue offered to me.
"Staying clean." i made direct eye contact with Mae while answering.
