Y/N panted as she jogged through the park, sweat trickling down her forehead. She had picked up a new habit of jogging as a way to clear her head. Especially with everything going on. She suddenly heard yelling, making her stop in her tracks. "Let's get him!" A young boy's voice shouted. Y/N looked around until she saw a group of young boys chasing after another boy.
"Hey!" Y/N yelled, running over to them. The boys stopped and turned to look at her. "Leave him alone!" Y/N demanded as she neared them. The darkness shrouded their faces so she couldn't see them that well.
"Oh yeah? Or what?" One of the boys questioned, puffing out his chest. Y/N raised an eyebrow. The kids couldn't be more than 13 and here they were threatening a 17-year-old girl who was one of the best fighters in the Valley. It was cute how clueless they were.
"Dude let's go, it's not worth it." One of the boys urged. Y/N recognized the voice instantly. She had spent many days listening to that voice complain that the WiFi wasn't working or that karate was stupid. "Anthony?!"
The boys finally came into the light, letting her get a good look at them. One of them was blonde with curly hair, one had brown hair and the other had black hair. Anthony was standing next to them, a guilty look on his face."How do you know this girl?" One of the boys asked, turning to the youngest LaRusso. "She's friends with my sister. And she trained with my dad." Anthony replied. The boys' expressions all changed.
"Wait were you the one who was paralyzed?" The brunette boy asked. "Yes I was. As much as I'm enjoying talking about me, let's talk about you guys. Why were you chasing this poor boy?" Y/N asked, gesturing to the scared boy behind her.
"Because he's a loser. He doesn't belong here." The blonde boy spat. "And why's that?" Y/N asked. The boys all exchanged looks. "No one wants to answer? Ok so here's what we're going to do, you boys are going to go home and leave this boy alone. If not, I'll tell Mr. and Mrs. LaRusso what has happened here and I'm sure they'll be more than willing to pass that along to your parents. Do we have an understanding?"
The boys all nodded quickly. "Good. Now hurry along home." She stated. The boys scurried off leaving Y/N and the boy they chased alone. "I'm sorry about them, they're just boys being boys. What's your name?" Y/N asked softly, turning to the scared boy. "Kenny. My name's Kenny." He answered shyly.
"Well nice to meet you Kenny. I'm Y/N." She introduced, sticking out her hand. Kenny took it and shook it. "I like your costume. Is it from dungeons and dragons?" Y/N asked, gesturing to his outfit. Kenny's eyes lit up. "Yeah it is! Do you play?" He asked.
Y/N shook her head. "No I don't but my friend Demetri does and he's told me about it." She replied. Kenny's smile fell. "Oh."
"So why were those boys chasing you?"
"A girl in my gym class asked me to meet her for role playing but those guys showed up instead. They started recording me and I hit the one boys phone and it broke. They tried to hurt me so I hit them and ran off."
Y/N frowned. She couldn't believe Anthony would do something like this. Sure he wasn't always the nicest boy but she didn't think he would bully someone. Maybe she didn't know him as well as she thought.
"I'm sorry to hear that. Are you hurt?" She asked, her eyes scanning for a bruise. Kenny shook his head. "No I don't think so. One boy grabbed me so I elbowed him in the stomach before they could hit me." He replied. Y/N smiled. "At least you defended yourself. Do you know karate?"
"No but I wish I did. Then I could defend myself."
"Karate is only for self defense. My father may not think so but I do."
"You know karate?"
Y/N smiled. "I do. One of the best in the Valley if I do say so myself." She replied, trying not to sound arrogant. "Do you think you could teach me?" Kenny asked hopefully. "Tell you what. How about I give you my number and you let me know if you really think you need it. Sometimes it may sound fun to learn but it's a lot of hard work and self discipline. If you really feel you need to learn it then shoot me a text, alright?"
Kenny nodded and handed Y/N his phone. Y/N quickly typed in her number and handed it back to him. "How about I drive you home? Can't have you walking home in the dark." Y/N offered. Kenny nodded. "Ok."
The ride to Kenny's house was silent, the only sound coming from the hum of the engine and the radio playing one of Johnny's 8 tracks at a low volume. Soon Y/N pulled up to Kenny's house and put her car in park. "Here we go."
"Thank you. Not just for the ride but for helping me." Kenny thanked. Y/N smiled. "It was no problem, really. And remember if you need anything, just text me, ok?" Y/N said. Kenny nodded. "I will. Have a good night."
Kenny hopped out of the car and slammed the door before running up his driveway. Y/N waited until she saw the door close before putting the car in reverse and driving away.
Soon she pulled into the apartment complex, her eyes suddenly feeling heavy with sleep. She stifled a yawn as she got out of her car and started walking towards her apartment.
She unlocked the door and walked in to find Johnny sitting on the couch. "Hey dad." She greeted, walking towards the fridge. "Hey, kid. Have a good run?" He asked. Y/N nodded. "It was good until I saw a group of boys gang up on another boy." She replied. "I'm assuming you stepped in?"
"You know I did."
"Yeah you're too..."
"Chivalrous?"
"I was gonna say stupid but whatever floats your boat."
Y/N rolled her eyes. "Anyway, what did you get up to?" She asked as she took a sip of water. "I taught LaRusso some Eagle Fang shit." He replied. Y/N raised an eyebrow. "Really? How did that go?"
"Surprisingly well."
"Really? So you two are finally getting along?"
"I wouldn't say that."
"You wouldn't or you don't want to?"
"Shut up."
Y/N gave a laugh. "Anyway, I'm going to take a shower and go to bed. I'm exhausted." She stated. "Ok, good night, kid," Johnny replied. "Good night dad." She said back before walking into the bathroom and closing the door behind her.
Y/N turned on the shower and stepped in, letting the warm water run over her aching muscles. She felt a dull pain in her lower back but tried to ignore it. She didn't want to assume the worst about her back but it had been hurting lately. She just chalked it up to all the training she's been doing.
Once Y/N was done in the shower, she stepped out and wrapped a towel around her body. She walked over to the mirror and wiped the condensation off of it to see her reflection staring back at her. Her bruises had been healing and so had some of the cuts. She ran her fingers over them, letting her fingertips trace the faint scars that had formed.
She opened her towel and looked into the mirror to see the small scar on her hip. She had gotten it a long time ago when she was very young but she doesn't remember how. She assumed it was from her parents but she thought she would remember getting it. Miguel was the only one who has seen the scar and he suggested maybe she fell when she was younger and never let the wound heal. It didn't look like an accident though, it looked like someone had cut her.
Y/N shook her head and went back to her nighttime routine of brushing her teeth, doing her hair, and putting on her pajamas. Once she was done, she exited the bathroom and walked into her room. Buddy ran up to her and nudged her as she put her dirty clothes away. "Hey Buddy." She greeted, scratching him behind the ear. Buddy gave a happy bark before jumping onto her bed.
Y/N flicked off her light switch and climbed under her covers. She closed her eyes, ready to drift off into sleep when her phone buzzed on her nightstand. Y/N groaned and fumbled around in the dark before picking it up. Miguel's name flashed across the screen, requesting a video call. Y/N sighed before clicking answer.
"Hello?" She asked groggily. "Oh, I'm sorry did I wake you?" Miguel asked. "No." She replied, stifling a yawn. Miguel raised an eyebrow. "I definitely did." He replied.
"Believe me if I was sleeping, I wouldn't have answered."
"Oh I know. You could sleep through a hurricane."
Y/N frowned jokingly, making Miguel laugh. "Is there something you wanted or was your whole reason for calling to make fun of my sleeping habits?" Y/N asked sarcastically. Miguel shifted in his bed. "No reason, I just wanted to talk you." He replied with a soft smile. Y/N felt her heart melt.
"You know you could just come over right?"
"And risk Sensei finding out? Not a chance."
"Oh come on, you've done it before."
Miguel contemplated her words. "Alright I'll be over in a bit." He sighed. Y/N grinned. "I knew you'd see it my way. The window is already unlocked for you." She replied. Miguel chuckled before ending the call.
Y/N smiled and placed her phone down beroe rolling over onto her side. She felt her eyelids start to droop but she fought the urge to fall asleep, wanting to wait for Miguel. Y/N couldn't fight it any longer, as her eyes finally closed.
Just as her eyes closed, her bedroom opened and Miguel slid in, careful not to make a sound. He quietly closed the window before tip-toeing over to Y/N's bed. "Y/N? Are you asleep?" He whispered. He was met with silence. Miguel smiled before climbing into her bed and pulling the covers over himself.
Y/N shifted in her sleep before cuddling into Miguel, her body finding his. Miguel smiled and wrapped his arms around her as she sleepily nuzzled his chest. Miguel placed a kiss on her forehead as he looked down at her. "I love you so much." He whispered. Y/N murmured something incoherent, making Miguel smile. He gave her one last look before closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep.

A/N Fun fact i had written the Kenny part a long time ago and didn't know what else to add. So this chapter was actually quite easy. Not a big fan of it but at least we got some Miguel and Y/N fluff :). Hope y'all enjoyed.
